Meh, the limestone in the NW corner is the more yellow variety on the inside.

It is the same precast material that is used on the outside of the northwest corner. It isn't limestone.

why did they do that? I mean on a scale of 1-10 it's bothersome level is at a 3. but there's no denying that it looks kind of stupid. like, vanier looks super nice and the sides look kind of dumb because they look cheap and butt up right against vanier. why not just do them all the same?

It looks fine. Same material is used on the inside above the entrance tunnels. Saves some $ to use on inside awesomeness.

Uh, it's def supposed to look like Limestone

non-issue imo.  looks close enough to limestone and in a year or two as it fades, it will look even more like the rest of the buildings around it.
also i doubt recruits are pulling out colorimeters to measure XYZ coordinates of the RGB scales on the surrounding building materials.

I guess I agree that it looks "fine". like a cup that's half filled with water where one person will see it as half full and the other as half empty. c-crap is a half full guy and there's nothing wrong with it.

also, i'm not going to go back but I'm sure I had the same critique when they finished the nw side. so I guess if they're going to make that side look "fine" they might as well make the other side match it.

those pictures make it look really similar but it doesn't really look that way in person. just my opinion.

i agree that it's a non-issue, but it's like why? why do that? because you're dropping close to a hundred million to redo the entire north side, right? so why not spend just a tiny bit more money to make it look uniformed and nice and well thought out. those corners are like taking the most delicious hamburger in the world and then slapping it between two pieces of Anderson complex, two day old, stale, always save bread.

What happens when they make the new section look nice and uniform and then the entire north end gets non-uniform the next 6 months because of sun, rain, earth, wind, and fire?

the reason why is because we don't have an unlimited bank roll.  i doubt very few people care about the differing shades of fake limestone we used.  but people do care about player and fan amenities so lets spend the money we do have on those things...

fwiw, as we begin banning the powercat from campus and moving forward with powercat 2,  it would be nice to dump the limestone concept all together (it's too KUey).  i don't know what the best building material is but i am sure that currie is working on it.

sure, but it seems like a small amount to pay to make the most visible part of a 100 million dollar project look a little better than "fine". i mean, it's going to be there for fifty years. maybe I'd change my mind if i knew how much extra it would've been though. who knows. also influencing this is that i drive past it multiple times a week and it just looks kind of cheap. it doesn't look as good as the pictures make it.

From CC's pix lighting seems to play quite a bit in the actual appearance of the "stone" especially given that it's north facing and therefore subject to a lot of shadowing. Honestly, the more looking at the photos the less and less it bothers me, rather than more, mostly cause there are a lot of different shades of "limestone" being used anyways. That being said, obviously seeing it in person means more.
