it's all we got, bud

I like it to happen this way anyway. we get crap like this to whet our appetites, then still get our drawers blown off by the real thing. best of both worlds.

Anyone else pissed off that we don't know any more about crop terraces today than we did yesterday?  I am very much looking forward to the Spring Game.

not sure how the engineering/architecture world works, but my guess is were getting different rendos because of different companies proposing their ideas for kstate to pick one.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

That's part of it, but even after a particular bidder is chosen there is still a lot of changes/change orders and hammering out of details that still occurs. If the stories from WSC are true about K-State Athletics being particularly anal about details, even what we get on April 26th will still be for all intents and purposes very much a working model. Sure, it'll probably look very close to that when all said and done, but things can change. One rather major detail that comes to mind was when the rendering came out for WSC and that top "floor" was clearly the coaches/press row of glass, and if you look at this thread from that period you can see that, but obviously clearly now there is now a whole other "story" for what I supposed was to be the Camera Deck and it is now not even used as that. Another smaller detail was that the turrets kind of bulging out at the top, instead of being vertical throughout as we see now. Some decisions are purely aesthetic, others financial, others practical. In short, it's a process, as was evident through what we saw in the total evolution of the leaded rendos for the WSC, and now what were seeing here for the NEZ.

This week is the first I had heard of having steppes with native switchgrass growing there.

I'll tell you how it works, it's exactly like how scripts are sold/acquired in Hollywood.  Half the designs that you see out there were pitched by firms like HKS to John Currie in a restroom at Harry's before they ever saw the light of a board room.

You basically draw up what you think looks like a cool stadium, or rowing hut building, and just start mass emailing those fuckers to schools and pro-teams around the world until you get a fish on the line.  And, you get out there and bust your ass and press the flesh and get them into people’s hands.  Hell, a guy from Arquitectonica posed as an elderly female nanny for a year for the family of the head of West Ham United just to pitch his drawings of a new soccer practice facility.  They didn't buy it, but the artist re-used the design for a Brazilian Jai alai venue a year later.  It's a tough racket.

Caught me.

This cartoon and variations of it run around engineers/architects but it explains the process:

But obviously not some dumb tire swing but instead a awesome amazing Vanier 2.0

Pete is right.  He doesn't mention the seedy underbelly of the "drafting couch" that has claimed the virtue of so many starry eyed architects/engineers.  They want to be a star but their purity ends wadded up next to their underwear on the floor in the office of a voracious AD who doesn't take "no" for an answer.
