they'll upgrade video boards at all facilities next year as a new all-sport contract with daktroniks.

Spelling was a little off.  Lots of examples of their ribbons at pro and collegiate stadiums.

looking around that web site makes me embarrassed, there are high school baseball stadiums that have video boards bigger than the NEZ

This is a great idea. I would scream "Choo Chooo Train's comin' through!" every time the train was passing by my seat. It would be a pretty cool effect if the entire stadium did that during the entire game.

Does that include replacing the south one again?   

I hope so, it's big but outdated. To eliminate the Vanier problem I think they shoul put a massive one south side and smaller ones in the sw and se corners

It just blows my mind that K-State, with Wichita and Kansas City both about 2 hours away, can't garner attendance higher than Iowa rough ridin' State.  I get we're a small state with 2 BCS programs, but wtf?

Well, ponder this.  Ames is in the Des Moines metro area, population of 569,000+.  Literally a trip across town (at worst for 600K).  No pro sports in the area (yes, I know the Royals and the Chiefs are a stretch of the word "pro," but still, it is competition).  As opposed to driving across the state.

Location matters.  Even when going to watch shitty flood aggie sports.

KC = 2.3mil.  120 miles away.  1.5hr drive. Ponder.

Our largest out of state alumni base is 8 hours from BSFS.

Here are the driving times to Jack Trice

Omaha is 1.5 hours away
KC and the twin cities are under 3 hours away
Chicago is 4.5
Milwaukee is 5.5
St. Louis is 6
Indianapolis is 7.5

Ames' geographical proximity is similar to that of Big 10 schools not Big 12 schools. Their version of our Dallas is MSP. MSP is less than 3 hours from Jack Trice, Manhattan is 8 hours from DFW. Also I'd be willing to bet our ticket revenue is higher. ISU ticket prices are crazy low and as Dax mentioned their premium seating is sparse.

Stunning that you two actually think that. Scoreboards aren't ribbon boards. Pretty sure that drawing was meant to depict out of town scores without actually putting scores on there. I'm willing to bet the artist  didn't think what was actually put on the ribbon board was going to be subjected to that level of detailed scrutiny. Tim Weiser and Max Urick have been gone for a while, this current athletic department has done nothing for us to think they will cheap out on something like that.
