I hope they do end up doing something similar to this as far as the stands go in the corners and such, with a big time Vanier 2.0 connected of course... but hopefully it'd be way shorter somehow.. I just, I just don't want to take away from the setting, ya know?

yeah. while nice, that thing is way too big. i don't want anything that takes away our view of the flint hills in the fall.

i like old stadium, glad it is getting new turf

yeah, used to spend countless hours there seeing if I could miss a shot so badly that it would go over the protective netting and hit the alumni center

Oh yeah, maybe one of the most scenic views in all of sport . . . uncluttered by a hodge podge of buildings made of different materials etc. etc.

We should use that technology that bends the light, so we can have the tall structure but still see what's behind it.

You can't just "lower the field" without changing the sight lines for the lower seats. You'll be looking into the back of the head in front of you.

somehow some way we always end up back at sight-line discussions

Seems like an accurate statement to me.  :dunno:

Quote
Memorial Stadium in Lawrence has one of the best settings in college football.  Once the field is lowered and track removed along with other improvements to the stadium, I would think we would take a good jump in the rankings.  Obviously we'll never be near the top due to a smaller fanbase and inability to build an 80,000 + stadium...but as far as enjoying a beautiful saturday it won't get much better.

In a true castle situation you don't want trees that could possibly provide cover for thine foes.
