Will the "cool" Pinstripe Bowl K-State be on the new field at BSFS?

Yes . . . it's cool.  Currie Prevails.
NO . . . OB Wins again.

It just blows my mind that K-State, with Wichita and Kansas City both about 2 hours away, can't garner attendance higher than Iowa rough ridin' State.  I get we're a small state with 2 BCS programs, but wtf?

Also, if we catered to the fair-weather fans and seasonal squawks, I bet we could fill 'er up more.

Des Moines metro 500k+ population in 2010 census.  Ames is 30 miles from Des Moines.  Plus, you're only talking about a 5k difference in attendance when their stadium holds 5k more.

Iowa has 300K more people from than Kansas and ISU has 7,000 more students than K-State.

What I'm talking about is a football program that blows compared to a football program that doesn't.

Fact is, Manhattan has a 127,000 metro population according to the 2010 census and Kansas City (2.3mil) and Wichita (600K) are each less than 2 hours away.

Guess If we'd sustained the success of the 90s through the 00s, we'd probably have a large capacity.  But we didn't.

In Cyclone's eyes...their program doesn't blow.  They've had some SLTH wins that allows them to fall in love with team and program.

If you are talking attendance though....I think ADJC could put more butts in the seats if our stadium was larger than 50k.  60k might be a stretch, but I firmly believe we could sell out 55k every game.

Also, Wichita is full of OU and OSU alum, and obviously KC metro has a lot of Jayhawk fans that stay home in the fall.  Sustained success is key...as well as the city's amenities (hotels) and fan experience.  Both are improving every year.

They throw thousands of people on to the grass hills, how much do they charge for those "seats"?   They built a pillbox pressbox in the late 90's and renovated the areas underneath the decks and slocked in some "suites"  . . . we build $86.7 million dollar West Stadium Center, have over 60 suites and two stadium clubs.    That's the difference between ISU and K-State.   The just built a dedicated football player/admin facility and built a basketball practice facility in a financially defunct building off company and several miles from their basketball arena.   We build a state of the art $18 million dollar basketball training facility right next to our basketball arena.   That's the difference between ISU and K-State.

They also don't play batcatball, probably because they couldn't find a large enough area of unflooded plain to fit a baseball diamond on.

Well, ponder this.  Ames is in the Des Moines metro area, population of 569,000+.  Literally a trip across town (at worst for 600K).  No pro sports in the area (yes, I know the Royals and the Chiefs are a stretch of the word "pro," but still, it is competition).  As opposed to driving across the state.

Location matters.  Even when going to watch shitty flood aggie sports.

Can't remember if these were ever posted.

Why did he decide not to cover a large part of the upper deck?  What an embarrassing photoshop.

I wonder if he was going for something similar to what OU has at their stadium.

Good catch, never really noticed that before.  The only reasons I can think of to do it that way would be to reduce cost, maintain a smaller footprint, or provide structural support to the upper deck.

pretty shitty list imo. Jack Trice is horrible.

The list is fine for the most part, but not entirely accurate.

TCU's stadium is way nicer than ours or flood Aggie.

In 2014, Baylor will be in the top 4 of the league.

This upcoming season we'll surpass Iowa State.

Next season the rankings will be as follows:

1) Texas
2) Oklahoma
3) Okie State
4) Baylor
5) Texas Tech
6) West Virginia
7) TCU
8) K-State
9) Iowa State
10) Kansas

KC = 2.3mil.  120 miles away.  1.5hr drive. Ponder.

I guess that's fine if we are going by structure/some other arbitrary measure.  The only thing I care about is home field advantage.

Just something to consider in the grand scheme of the BCS facilities arms race, recruiting, future conference realignment, attracting a coach beyond Snyder, etc.

And it's kind of a sobering reminder that while the castle is going to make our peens swell up with pride, we are basically just keeping pace with the bottom feeders of the Big XII in all the categories I listed above and are going to have to agressively continue to implement the remainder of the masterplan to improve our position.

For God sakes, Baylor, BAYLOR is so motivated they're building a brand new $250 million+ on campus stadium.

If anything, it shows you just how much ground Currie has to make up due to the lack of foresight and competence of the prior athletic director that did nothing during the DOD and a boom economy while schools like Tech and OSU were building their asses off.

Last rough ridin' place: Memorial Stadium, Kansas
Opened: 1921
Capacity: 50,071
2012 Attendance: 41,329 (59th)

A poor home win-loss record (209-199-16), the old-school athletic track circling the field and simple styling make this the worst venue in the conference. The last major upgrade took place over a decade ago, the attendance is fairly small and the building itself lacks tradition and character.

Yes, but we have one of the most fiscally sound athletic departments in the country. Doesn't that make you feel good?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.
