CC, does the AD see putting permanent seating in the NE/NW corners at some point or are the terraces planned to be there forever?

Touchdown (the bobcat) Terrace. We need this to happen. Maybe like a little tunnel running between sides so Touchdown can be on both sides. I'm thinking windows behind the seats too. Imagine the epic selfies being photo bombed by a bobcat
As cool as it would be to have one of those terraces turned into a bobcat zoo-like pen, I think it's kind of mumped up to lock up animals unless it's necessary for their own survival. FTR, I eat the hell out of meat, just think prison for animals is kind of messed up even though they are cool to look at.

I only approve of this if they bring the bobcat in from Sunset Zoo for gamedays.  Non gamedays it gets to enjoy luxury at the zoo eating all the rabbits it wants.

The would have to drug the ever lovin' bejeebers out of the bobcat to put it there.  They are very solitary critters and would literally die of stress.  Sort of why it is okay to be at the Sunset Zoo.  I don't think anyone actually goes there.

What about just a really, really big house cat. Like isn't there some breed that's descended from ancient Egypt cats?

cute kitten display, auction off at Catbacker events every year.

I'm mostly over worrying about the terraces. I think if done right, they will give the stadium a nice unique look. So when people ask, let's all pretend we campaigned hard to get terraces because we're fans of machu picchu and stuff and we love them and think they look great.

However, I think Baylor is building theirs in 9 mos., so anything is possible

Lol so wrong taking them almost two years

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/McLane_Stadium

Yeah, not sure where he got 9 mos.  Our NEZ is going to take 9 months, and that's contemplating double shifts and no northeast corner.

I said "I think" because I didn't take the time or effort to check because, frankly, I don't care.

You think some real dumb crap then.

Because of site conditions and the required ground work for the NE corner, if they are ever thinking of doing anything on the north end of the east side, they could do site work in preparation for a future structure there.

Is it possible that they could, hypothetically, build an indoor facility over there?  sure.  it's possible.  it's possible they could implode the bram and build one there too.

You said you "bet they are looking into moving the indoor facility to the NE corner of the stadium."  I'm telling you they aren't.

Fountains like the Royals have at The K is literally the only acceptable option.

Roughly how many seats does this add if you are taking the terraces out?

I'm pretty sure they are just waiting for kstate to announce the very last phase and then they will announce one that's better.

At this point, to keep pace, they'll literally have to tear down and build an entirely new stadium.  Ala Baylor.

I honestly think that's what they need to do, but they won't because their donors simply don't care enough to pony up that kind of cash.

They'll gladly dump money to build a shrine to the rules of basketball, but they're perfectly content playing football in a rotting carcass with RCA TV's hanging out in the concourse.

Do you think they have a room with a stockpile of those TVs in case one burns out?

Shopping primarily on eBay is a nice cost saving measure.
Honest question for structural types, would it be even feasible to enlarge concourse, increase restroom sizes etc when you take into account of modern code? I know pretty much anything is possible with limitless money, but it seems like there is really very little they can do (if they don't want to tear down and rebuild).

Probably best to completely demo anything above the top level of the original seating bowl, make the required changes to the seating bowl (including complete removal of portions of the original seating bowl), then build out and up from there. The curved end of the seating is a nightmare, what do you do with it? If you keep it you shift the field north and demo south ends of the seating bowl. Keeping the exterior of the curved exterior north end as an architectural feature could be really cool. Once that lower seating bowl is corrected, then any concourses can be newly constructed moving out and up to deal with paths of egress. Structurally All the new stuff would need to be independent of the original bowl. So it's not a total tear down, but still very expensive to just to have the modern version of the basics you need. If they do anything with the filed level, like lowering and adding seats closer to the field once the track is gone, the price is going through the roof. I doubt the existing foundation of the seating bowl was constructed to allow for the field to be lowered.

hmm, that sounds exactly like what the university of washington did.  yup, spot on.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Actually UW demoed everything except the upper level grandstand on one side. Completely removed the seating bowl and grandstand on the other side. The grandstand that remained was originally built in 1987 and actually collapsed during construction in 1987 (and had to be rebuilt). Something tells me KU doesn't have $250 million to pull off something similar.

Since all the numbers are pretty much finalized, has anyone guestimated where this facility puts us nationally? I know Dax said the number could possibly be more than the announced $65 mill, and closer to $80 mill, but I guess that involves partial stadium renovations. But @ $65 million and 132,000 sqf, will it be top 5, 10, 25? I know Oregon's facility is @ $68 million, 145,000 sqf, and it's probably the best in America, if not the history of the whole world.
I'm also wondering this.

I looked it up and confirmed with multiple sources and yes, it does in fact make us the best in the nation. We are the best at having nice stuff.

Boy I love cats.  But I'm afraid Touchdown might exacerbate my allergies (horrible genes, i know).  Can we try to get a hypoallergenic Touchdown?

They should put mini outdoor luxury boxes similar to those at the top of the Bram in the terraces.
