I'm pretty sure they are just waiting for kstate to announce the very last phase and then they will announce one that's better.

At this point, to keep pace, they'll literally have to tear down and build an entirely new stadium.  Ala Baylor.

I honestly think that's what they need to do, but they won't because their donors simply don't care enough to pony up that kind of cash.

They'll gladly dump money to build a shrine to the rules of basketball, but they're perfectly content playing football in a rotting carcass with RCA TV's hanging out in the concourse.

From a different thread on the front page about "renderings" and crying that the legislature f'ed them over on thebball dorms :

Quote
With the Pro-KSU and Anti-KU sentiment in the Kansas Legislature, expect a complete green light for anything KSU wants to do, and a road block for anything KU wants to do. All you have to do is take a look at the makeup of the state government to figure that out. KU sends their alumni into the world. KSU keeps theirs here in Kansas.

this is so great

Do you think they have a room with a stockpile of those TVs in case one burns out?

Honest question for structural types, would it be even feasible to enlarge concourse, increase restroom sizes etc when you take into account of modern code? I know pretty much anything is possible with limitless money, but it seems like there is really very little they can do (if they don't want to tear down and rebuild).

My personal feeling is that they'd be better off demolishing the whole thing and playing in Arrowhead for a year while they build something new.

However, I think Baylor is building theirs in 9 mos., so anything is possible, I guess.  It's not like they'd build something really nice.  Look at their new track for Christ's sakes.

From outside stadium:

From above:

**Great work by PurpleHaze21 at gpc.

Pretty cool, but the view from the outside is amiss compared to the inside, see the top of the video board of what we currently got on the inside vs. the outside. Prospectively if might work out but it looks off.

What should be worrisome for KU (but apparently isn't?) is that once Vanier 2.0 is built, they will be miles behind not just in the stadium and game day facility, but now also miles behind in their football complex and player facility.

So in order to just catch up, they'd have to completely redo Memorial and add new suites/club level/pressbox and replace Generic Football Person Complex. And when K-State announces East and South stadium projects, KU will be staring at hundreds of millions of dollars just to match what K-State is doing, let alone try to exceed it.

Considering KU needs state funds to support basketball facility projects, difficult to see where the money comes from to build that many facility improvements for their distant #2 sport.

CC, does the AD see putting permanent seating in the NE/NW corners at some point or are the terraces planned to be there forever?

Yeah, not sure where he got 9 mos.  Our NEZ is going to take 9 months, and that's contemplating double shifts and no northeast corner.

why do they need state funding for basketball projects? i don't get it. i thought they had loads of alumni willing to support the basketball program? (I'm not gE'ing here)

Touchdown (the bobcat) Terrace. We need this to happen. Maybe like a little tunnel running between sides so Touchdown can be on both sides. I'm thinking windows behind the seats too. Imagine the epic selfies being photo bombed by a bobcat
