Ya know what really helps out corners and the secondary in general?

A good interior D-Line.

Passing game . . . the reasons why are obvious.   Running game . . . it saves wear and tear on your secondary when your front guys can snuff the running game.

DB's love coming on blitzes when they know the O-Line, and RB's have to worry about the front 4.

Crazy, crazy concept.   Panj, you're sounding more like Wabash Station material, must say, I'm kind of disappointed.

Do you think our interior D-Line will be bad?  Do you think any of the people we were recruiting currently would start next year?  Serious questions.

You don't know if we'd be better with these guys or not.  You assume.  You don't realize.

Hollingshed was a Top 50 JUCO player on Rivals.  He was the first JUCO guy we targeted and got to commit in 2011.  He didn't play a down last year, and he doesn't even have a redshirt available.

Marcus Hardison is the only can't miss guy on the board.  Every other guy we looked at from the JUCO ranks isn't at that level.

Call me crazy, but I'd like to think hyper conservative LHC LHC Bill Snyder only offers scholarships to guys he'd really like to have in the program.

By implication, some of you are resorting to the age old, "we didn't really need him" excuse.

Sad . . . really.

All the rationalizing about how past guys didn't see the field last year, blah, blah just doesn't mean and effing thing . . . you're projecting and rationalizing.

Again . . . sad.

Thanks for answering either of the two questions I posed :dubious:.  I never suggested that losing out on these DL guys was good, just that it isn't going to have much of an effect on next year's team.

Dax, I'm aware of all of this.

This isn't Wabash Stationy logic.  I'm just telling you what I've observed.

You know as well as anyone that JUCO recruiting can be a very quick, business like arrangement.  There doesn't have to be a lot of courting, especially in January.  If they mine their contacts and get some guys they're interested in, visits will be set up shortly after the Fiesta Bowl, and they'll find someone comparable to Lutui and Boyd.

There are going to be guys that JUCO coaches are high on that aren't getting looks for one reason or another.  Some of it is probably grades.

The coaches are already going to be in Arizona after the Fiesta Bowl.  My guess is that several of them will not be going home after the Fiesta Bowl.  They'll be in Arizona and Cali trying to find a few guys and set up visits for January.

I have no idea if the guys we have right now will be any good.

I've been a K-State fan for years, I've heard all about the track speeds, great hips, huge calfs etc. etc. that turned into a pile of crap once out on the field.

I've seen the guys who looked good here and there in spot play, but didn't do a thing once they were called on to be full time starters.

What does LHC Bill Snyder consistently and persistently preach?  Quality depth and competition at every position.

So yeah, hopefully the coaching staff has turned to options d,e,f etc. etc.

Probably either Akinola or Hollingshead would be my guess.

remember when the talking point was "snyder hasn't landed a quality qb since ell," but then he got sams and waters and now everyone's all "snyder can't ever land interior d-linemen," but we got d. Hood Britzen waiting in the wings?

Akinola will most likely start at the nose, and Britz at the 3T.  Hood and Hollingshed will probably rotate in.  Reed as well.

I remember when it was Snyder can't land HS defensive tackles and that certainly isn't the case anymore.

Hollingshead is an o-lineman now and he sucks so scratch him.  I'd say Akinola or Chaq Reed.

There is a good juco DT at Hutch that just came available because he can't get into the SEC.  Of course he's looking at NU now.  I"m not a big recruting ranking guy at all but it does get frustrating watching this staff recruit.  It's one thing when you just selfishly want a kid to come to your school.  It's another when it's obvious the best situation for a kid is KSU and he goes somewhere else anyway.  I don't expect to land top high school kids but we should clean up with the jucos every year.  No other school can come close to matching our track record with JC kids they should be lining up and begging to come play at KSU.  We just had a former hutch d-lineman named big 12 defensive player of the year and KSU offers him by far the easiest path to eligiblity.  So he decides to try the big 10 after he doesn't have the grades for the SEC?

He was moved out of need.  He may move back.

If he doesn't get into NU, we should have a spot available.  We do tend to hold a scholarship or two back every year for this particular purpose.

i would take my chances on landing the juco top 50 rather than wondering what if, im happy with our hs talent but our defense is going to get destroyed next year if we dont plug the middle and protect the corners. dont act like not getting the big 4 we were after going somewhere else doesnt hurt us.

Akinola is reportedly a beast, lets hope he gets on campus. Does anybody know if it is harder to get into the SEC than the BIG 10? I would assume it would be the other way around.

Akinola's eligibility still has not been resolved by the NCAA and it's unclear as to whether or not the guy even has practiced with the team.  I'm continually confused when people talk about him as a foregone conclusion next year to anchor the line.
Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

I'd expect the B10 to be tougher than the SEC to get into but were talking about Neb. They're not even AAU. Woof.  :barf:
