There's still five weeks left.  Let it play out.

it was good on that one day and it's been bad every single other day. that's how this will play out.

The class is still pretty solid with a couple of really outstanding looking prospects.

Notable recruits pulled in January in the last couple of years:

Vai Lutui
Demonte Hood
Hakeem Akinola (who probably would have started had he gotten his grades together)
Chaquil Reed
Kent Gainous

There are quality players, especially across the DL, that we can get at this late stage in the game.  There are going to be a lot of good players who may look to qualify very late that other schools may have passed on because they've already filled up.

This is not new.  This is how we do things here.

Not that stellar  :dubious:
Yeah, there is a lot to be seen from that list.

I think this is a good year for some players to slip to us because of qualifying issues at other conferences.

Not a single one of our interior D-Linemen this year will get drafted or play in the NFL.

We did okay.  What we need are space eaters who let our pass rushers get to the QB.  We picked up some really nice DE's in this class.

We're looking for one JUCO DL in this class.  Maybe two.  My guess is that we'll find a decent one.

I wouldn't count on it.

Via Lutui was a two star, I would take another Via in a heart beat.

Who is the interior DL coach at the Kansas State University?

Someone who is evidently consistently very bad at recruiting.

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

Mo isn't responsible for recruiting all DL.  We recruit by territory, not necessarily position group.

Who is responsible for the regions where we keep losing essential players, who would start with little real competition for us, to inferior schools/situations?

So recruits don't ever talk to the position coach in the process?

Then again, everything the position coach is allowed to say, as well as the region recruiter is likely scripted by one guy.

But it is kind of amazing, I don't think there's any other program of K-State's supposed stature that swings and misses on DT's like ours does, at least not at the rate like K-State does.

I'm also going to throw out the fact that the complex is probably in lockdown mode right now because of Fiesta Bowl preparations and probably has been since last week.

I highly doubt Snyder is allowing much recruiting at the moment.  That probably shut down right after the last visit weekend and will resume 1/4/13.

I'm sure we'll have one or two decent sized visit weekends in January for late targets and placements (as we always do).

People act like this isn't how it's gone for the last, I don't know, forever.

So, defensive tackle is arguably the most critical need that needs to be adressed in this class.

And at this point Oregon State has 3 commitments from quality DT prospects and the Big XII Champions have zero.  That's truly remarkable.

I wanted Delva, and it is odd that we couldn't land him.

But people are really overestimating how badly losing the current interior DL is going to hurt us.

People should be WAY more concerned about CB.  Nate Willis is the most important player left on the board.

Am I the only one that thinks with Britz, Hood, Akinola we will be fine at DT next year?  Possibly add in some contribution from last years #47 Juco player Wesley Hollingshead and Xavier Gates.  These guys would have been nice, and it sucks to lose out on recruits we pursue, but the cupboard isn't as bare as some are making it out to be.

This is also, by far, the best group of freshmen that Snyder has signed in years (dating back to before he retired), and a couple of the guys he got to greyshirt (Vaughn, Small) are excellent pickups as well.

This really is a great class.  People are freaking out because one kid chose to go to Oregon State (which is weird), another kid got pressure to commit to his hometown SEC program (Spaight), and the other made no illusions about his intentions to play in the SEC and be close to his girlfriend (Jones).

Here's how this is going to play out.  We're going to probably get at least ten more visitors in January.  We're going to land 1-2 DL, 1-2 CB, and we're going to grab some placements.  We're going to grab one or two prep guys that were qualifying risks that will ultimately qualify.

We'll win 9 or more games next year.

People will freak out in 2014 because we lost Wesley Hollingshed.

The cycle will begin anew.

Someone mentioned Damian Williams in this thread.  Is he going to visit KSU, or are you guys just wanting us to recruit him?

If it's true, that's a good thing.  I'd grayshirt Ertz (due to his ACL) and take Williams as the QB in this class.  Then we're set at QB for the next two classes.

i think people (myself included) "freak out" because we realize how good we could  be if we actually landed these guys. and if wanting better talent on your team is a bad thing well then eff me

Ya know what really helps out corners and the secondary in general?

A good interior D-Line.

Passing game . . . the reasons why are obvious.   Running game . . . it saves wear and tear on your secondary when your front guys can snuff the running game.

DB's love coming on blitzes when they know the O-Line, and RB's have to worry about the front 4.

Crazy, crazy concept.   Panj, you're sounding more like Wabash Station material, must say, I'm kind of disappointed.

I am freaking out about recruiting because Football in general is going well, Basketball just beat a top 10 team, and I need something to freak out about. I mean, I still hate oscar and Currie but eff if that isn't getting old/tiresome.

Oh, who is "freaking out"?

DISCUSSING K-State's ability to continuously miss on quality interior defensive lineman is a discussion of . . . reality.
