beems has been here the past few years saying the same thing.  Then they step onto the field and get destroyed by 40.

Keep in mind, beems, after the three horrendous seasons at Notre Dame he now posts a 1-11 his first year at KU.  Snyder went 6-6 in '09 and his talent wasn't better.  This isn't going to end well and ole Charlie is loading up on one year transfers and jucos.  He will post another horrible year or two and then duck out of town leaving the next guy to manage a roster that has about 45 kids on scholarship with a limit to sign 25.  Then that individual will try to do a balancing act on the run while being clubbed on the field.

Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

I’ll save the idiots the post:

Hey, I’m not saying Combs was a loss, but I’ve been watching film and Delva is just better.  I think the staff wanted Delva more than Combs.  Combs was just a luxury.  Just like all the recruits that go somewhere else.  All those kids that go other places were obviously second on Bill’s list.  Who could pass up the opportunity to be coached by a legend?  Probably just kids that are selfish.  We don’t want those kids anyway.

you don't get it. Sad. I think the only reason you are made is for some reason your embarrassed that 18/20 year old kids make a choice. You think it is embarrassing to be a K-State fan when this does not go our way. Sad, and funny.

Whatever dude.  Some of us were saying this wasn't a priority well before he committed to KU.  I fail to see how he was a necessity or why we should meltdown.  The 3-DT position as well as Mike, CB, QB, OT, and DE are far more pressing needs.  We have 3 nose tackles already.  While it's nice to add another talented nose, this kid isn't exactly a Ben Bradley.  Dude doesn't play with a non-stop motor.

Over the years I've come to realize the single most important factor in LHC Bill Snyder recruiting is the kids show up.  There are a lot of players out there with the size, speed, skill etc. to be molded into good players.  Snyder will find kids that have those qualities you can question it you want but the truth is he will find kids with the physical tools.  He won't reach and sign kids without the tools unless they are of relation to him or someone else on the staff.  If the others show up and work the system then most will turn into good players.  We ran into trouble in 04 and 05 because we recruited too many kids that didn't qualify.

Totally right Hatter.  That’s why we offered him a scholarship.  Because we didn’t need him and he’s garbage.

2 of his final 3 were Washington State and KU.  Let that simmer for a while.

I never said he doesn't possess talent or any coveted skills.  But the bigs were not exactly beating his door down.  g

Like I said, we have 3 nose tackles.  A fourth is a luxury, not a need.

I'm of the belief that we just like to send offers out for the hell of it and see who bites. Kind of like chumming for sharks.

Not saying you're wrong, but we have a limit on scholarships.  Why offer if you don't need or want?  What if he says "yes"?  Do you then tell him to hold on for a few months to see if something better comes along?  I don't get this "luxury" thing.  If we offered it's because we wanted him, otherwise we'd be offering somebody else, right?

I'm less concerned with competing against KU, I want to compete with Oklahoma, TCU, OSU, Texas, and going down to 3rd and 4th options is going to make that even more difficult in the future.

Why did we let Marcus Jenkins-Moore come to visit with Combs?  Why would we let a guy come with Combs, who is going to keep saying "KU, KU, KU" in the guy's ear while he is at our campus?

Clearly, since MJM picked KU he was only a luxury offer for us, so why would we let someone we really don't even want come on a visit to give instant KU counter-points to our recruits?

I got a guy on the other line about some white walls

Wait, wait…so now we’re offering luxury scholarships?  Is that like a grey shirt?  LOL.  And now we’re playing the offers game?  Seriously?  Who did Darren Sproles get offered by?  Isn’t that the company line?  The Snyds just eats coal and poops diamonds?  It shouldn’t matter who offered, it should matter that we wanted him and didn’t get him.  It isn’t like we’re filled up with scholarships and have to throw back all the fish that are just jumping aboard the KSU Titanic.

I don't get too meltdowny on missing on a recruit. I get more  :excited: when we land a good one. I am not saying this is the way for everyone else, it is just my way.
