Word is Texas is going to offer Waters.

So, there's that.

he has a much better shot at being the starter here than he does at Texas.  Truth is they have two quarterbacks already with double digit starts and they're bringing in Swoopes.  That would be a really dumb move on his part.
Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

So, I guess it's time for some closers to start closing some deals.

Maybe we could sell them on that fact that we're Big XII Championshs and playing in a BCS Bowl Game or something.

Hopefully Texas doesn't have good memories, otherwise they'd roll out 2001 and the Dunn-Roberson fiasco.

I disagree. The two quarterbacks with double digit starts are both proven losers, and if we had them on our roster, I would be hoping we land Waters so we don't have to rely on either of them if Sams gets hurt.

Can we take the trophy with us to visits?  I'd imagine it'd say the same things Bill would anyway.

Ash played well this year.  Texas went 5-4 in the conference because their defense decided not to show up this season.  Their offense averaged 36 ppg, 441 ypg, and 265 passing per game.  Their defense gave up 30 ppg, 413 ypg, and 200 rushing ypg.  Their defense is the reason why they didn't fare better and not their QB play.  It's pretty simple stuff.

oh, and as for that QB play?  Texas is 9th in the nation in pass efficiency.  Seriously, it is beyond me to look at their QB play as the fault to their season.  It's ludicrous.

Is it weird that i'm scared if we get Waters, he'll start over Sams? Like I want Sams to start so bad and I know Waters could compete with him. Is that selfish? I mean the main goal is for the cats to be successful, but I don't want sams to be mad at K-State if he gets beat out.

I would be pretty surprised if Waters actually were to beat Sams out for the starting job. That said, if he does, more power to him. I want the best QB to play.

We want depth and competition.  Like most top level BCS programs have.

that is stupid.  we want guys who can make plays.  waters film is a bit like drew brees.  he's got a quick release, nifty in the pocket with some running ability, and makes accurate throws.  we need that if sams can't put it together right away.

i would not be because, at the moment, he is a more skilled passer.  with a starter returning at every position on the offensive line and quality receivers, we can move the ball through the air next season with an accurate passer.

We can also move the ball on the ground and control the clock with a blazing fast QB like Sams, and he won't have to be as accurate throwing the ball because defenses will have to load the box to compensate for the QB run game. Basically, we can't lose. Sams has had 2 years in the system, though, so I would be pretty surprised if he gets beaten out for the starting job.

really?  i didn't realize sams was good at toting the rock.  i must have been snoozing through the season.

My biggest concern next year is that Sams gets injured early on and we don't even make a bowl game.  Sam Johnson would be the worst starting QB we have ever had. And going off of how banged up Sams got with only 50 snaps I think there is a pretty big chance he gets injured next year.

Waters can also scramble and run with the ball. Think Johnny Footballs as a junior and without the criminal history.

Does anyone know of one of Synders starting QB's that played a full season without getting hurt.  It's what we face with dual threat QB's.

different personnel both for KSU and the conference and Waters has a different skill set.

The skill set similarities only make the historical proven reality of LHC Bill Snyder QB shuffling when he's got "depth" at that position that much more relevant.

I love Sams as much as anyone, but I think I want Jake Waters too.
