"I don't want you to commit" as he currently has 18 commits, any one of whom could change their mind at any time, just as he would fill a need of a kid on his board, who has committed elsewhere.
No kid goes into a commitment knowing they're going to change their mind. No coach is going to not look out what's best for him and his program even if that's entails breaking promises or taking a kid who did.
