I’d imagine at least one of Lara, rubley, or Howard will wind up transferring if Johnson comes in and is ready to start as a freshman

Unless Avery gains about 25 pounds before his freshman year, I don't think he will be starting by then

I think he’ll fill out quite a bit in the next year, getting to campus for the spring semester will help a ton.

I’m more concerned about him learning the play book and getting used to the speed of the college game than his size.

I don't think we'll use Avery as a battering ram like we have had to do with others.  We won't need to if we surround him with all this WR and RB talent.

Yea Collins new offense will not look like what we have been accustomed to seeing.  We will use our stable of stud RB’s to attack on the ground and WR’s to stretch the defense deeper.  If Avery runs it will be rarely designed and his ass will be sliding.

Yea, just cause Klein was a battering ram QB doesn’t mean that’s what his offense will be. Our last 2 QB recruits are PM15 style QBs and we’ve been super heavy on offensive skill position players with versatility. I’d be shocked if we’re not getting stylist comparisons to the Chiefs offense in a few years.

I think it's shaping up that way as well.  Avery throws very well on the run so I expect him to get out of the pocket and take rushing yards to the sideline when it's there, much like PM15 does. Collin was running qb draws right up the middle and I doubt we see that at all with Avery.

Prince recruited Colin Klein as a pro-style QB, the same as Freeman.  In high school, he played pro-style.

The heisman winner last year was 6’ 190 pounds. The idea that Avery needs to be 200+ to play in 2023 is not rooted in reality.

Well yeah, but Avery is even a couple inches taller and still weighs 20 pounds less than Bryce Young did.

Avery will be on campus several months before his freshman season starts. He will bulk up no problemo.

Yea it’s a non issue in my mind.  Apparently he’s an absolute stud academically too so if someone is going to beat the odds of starting as a freshman(learning playbook, reading defenses, etc) it’s this dude.

He's for sure enrolling early?  I hadn't heard that yet.  That's exciting!

Had offers from ASU, Wazzu, Oregon St, and Colorado.

Also interesting that 247 now has all our commits rated as at least 3*

Building and OL to rival the 99-2003 beefcake years with a stable of backs and QB talent behind it.

Between last year’s OL signings and this year’s commits we have 5 OL with the younger Beebe the shortest at 6’3” and all 5 being at least 260 in their recruiting profile. I love that there’s a definite pattern appearing to our offensive recruiting and what that pattern could lead to.

Panzer, Cam Beebe, Poitier, Leingang, Pastore is who I think you will see up front in some combination in 2023 and they are going to beat the absolute piss out of teams in the trenches.  They could also slide Pastore inside and play Klemm at the tackle if he is ready for it and his dad doesn’t poach him to Oregon.

You know what’s nuts?  This dude only playing 2 years of football, and one of those years on the offensive line.  He could be a huge get with a ton of potential.  Absolutely unbelievable he has a handful of P5 offers with one year of experience on the offensive line. :horrorsurprise:

Happy to get another o-lineman

I do hope though we start to get some defensive guys, but at this rate we'll score enough it won't matter

I think defense is going to be more transfer heavy from this regime. They seem to able to get lots of DB’s in the portal.  It does look like we are in good shape for a 4 star DE out of texas as well.  We probably need to replace our LB and DT coaches though if we want to take the next step into elevated recruiting at those positions.
