I don't get this.  Our class for 2011 is full?  We don't have to worry about the transfers like Bryce and Brown because there are like 15 schollies open right now.  (Pretty sure anyway, didn't Snyder say we only had 70 kids on scholarship right now?)

There is only so many scholarships open per position and it would seem we would need 2 RB commits for 2011. I'm not positive on the numbers, but I currently have the Cats at 74 filled schollies. I would guess that we sign around 28 kids for 2011 and banking 4 - 5 ships.

What chaps my ass a bit is that they just had their last home game of the season. Throttled UT and gained zero commits. I guess we're going to have to rely on some good BB game experiences on their official visits.

This staff doesn't do a whole lot of recruiting during the season.  We'll recruit much more during the break before the bowl game and after the bowl game.

The quarterback duo of Matt Lipham and Daniel Sams passed for 293 yards and two touchdowns to lead Salmen to a 41-7 victory over Benton in a Class 4A bi-district game at Salmen Friday night.

The Spartans (9-1), the No. 2 seed, advances to the regionals where they will face the Walker-Minden winner.

Benton, located north of Shreveport, finishes its season at 5-6.

"We played hard but we were overmatched by a superior opponent," Benton head coach Caleb Guidry said. "I'm proud of my guys, they gave it all they had."

The Spartans rolled up 415 yards of total offense while limiting the Tigers to 165.

The Spartans took a 7-0 lead on a Joron Adams one-yard touchdown run with 7:42 left in the first quarter. Chris Gulino added the first of his five extra points to cap off a seven-play, 48-yard drive.

Salmen increased the lead to 14-0 on a five-yard touchdown run by Josh Adams. The 31-yard drive was set up by a two-yard punt by Tanner Crutsinger.

"We were fortunate," Salmen head coach Jerry Leonard said. "We got off to good start and took them out of what they wanted to do, which was run the ball and eat up clock."

The lead increased to 21-0 when DeJuan Mackey broke loose for a 75-yard touchdown run. Gulino's extra point came with 4:57 remaining in the first half.

Benton got on the board with a nine-play, 77-yard drive. Backup quarterback Chris McGuire connected with Marcus Ruiz on a 16-yard touchdown pass. Taylor Benoit's extra point cut the lead to 21-7 with 1:06 left until halftime. Starting quarterback Dalton Carroll left the game in the second quarter with a leg injury.

But unfortunately for the Tigers, they left too much time for Lipham and Sams.

Lipham hit Sams with a 25-yard touchdown pass with 15 seconds left in the half. Gulino's fourth extra point gave Salmen a 28-7 going into the half.

Salmen outgained the Tigers 263 yards to 106 yards in the first half.

On the second play of the second half, Sams hit Mackey with a 51-yard pass down to the five. Sams connected with Jamal Robinson on the next play on a five-yard touchdown pass. Robinson finished the game with seven receptions for 161 yards.

The final points for the Spartans came when Shaun Jackson blocked a punt by the Tigers and Chuck Baker fell on it in the end zone. Gulino's extra point increased the lead to 41-7 with 9:24 remaining.

"There are 16 teams left," Leonard said. "There are no easy games. They are all quality opponents."

Salmen was held to 122 yards rushing on 18 carries for the game with 75 yards coming on one play.

Benton rushed for 91 yards on 43 carries. Four Benton quarterbacks combined to complete 8 of 14 passes for 74 yards.

Lipham completed 10 of 17 passes for 170 yards, and Sams completed 8 of 11 for 123 yards.

Good to see Sams' injury was nothing major.  Can't wait to see him next year.

Sams in the wildcat next year?  I don't think Brown can throw the ball much.

What you see is what you get man. In our last 2 games he has over 350 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns. yesterday in our first playoff game he broke our school's record for yards in a season. He's tall and fast!! He has big hands like a basketball player. He's a great receiver, one of the top in the state. You guys will be very satisfied with him.

A kid on the Salmen team on Robinson.

#1 Butler beat #5 Hutch 48-0 to win the Region VI championship.  Kennard had 11 catches for 202 yds w/ at least one TD.  Pease had 11 carries for 11 yds.  (Butler gave up -18 yards rushing in the playoffs against Coffeyville and Hutch.)  Butler outscored Hutch 76-0 in their two meetings this season.  (Both of Hutch's losses came to Butler)  Butler will now likely meet #2 Navarro in Pittsburg for the national championship.  Butler beat Navarro 16-10 in the first game of this season.  Hutch will likely play in the Salt City Bowl, at home.

no, 42 just throws out names of dudes that we've known about for a really long time and position he'd like to see them play.  in short, there's nothing behind this.
