Looks like sams threw a TD, threw a 2 pt conversion, and ran in two TDs (from 3 and 80) before being knocked out of the game.  Salmen ended up losing by 7 by losing 14-0 in the Sam'less 4th quarter.  Their first loss.

Salmen loses to Franklinton 35-28 but won't lose senior QB
Ted Lewis, The Times-Picayune, October 29, 2010 10:29 p.m.

It could have been worse. Much worse.

Salmen's unbeaten status came to an end Thursday in a last-minute 35-28 loss at District 9-4A rival Franklinton.

But Daniel Sams, the Spartans' multitasking senior standout received "a clean bill of health," despite a scary-looking blindside hit following an interception Sams threw, which ended Salmen's comeback hopes. Sams was transported by ambulance to Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton, where he was treated and released.

"Daniel's fine," Salmen Coach Jerry Leonard said Friday. "If anything, he was exhausted.

"He's just tired and sore, which I'm sure a lot of kids are today. There's definitely no concussion."

That means Sams, who played quarterback, running back, wide receiver, free safety and punter on Thursday, should be able to play in next Friday's regular-season finale against Pearl River, and, more importantly, the playoffs, which begin the following week.

That, Leonard added, was what he wanted his players to keep in mind through their disappointment of losing to a team that had beaten them twice last year, most memorably by 60-0 in the Class 4A semifinals.

"If they want to keep playing football, they don't have a choice," he said. "Who knows? Maybe we'll learn something from this and be a better team because of it.

"I do know this was a game where both teams played their butts off and they made the plays down the stretch. My hat's off to Franklinton."

Indeed, the Demons (9-0, 3-0) did make the plays they needed to win in an epic 92-yard, 14-play drive capped by Terrance Magee's 27-yard touchdown pass to Vincent Wilson with 52 seconds left that lifted Franklinton from a 28-27 deficit.

But Magee scrambled to connect with Chris Briggs for 20 yards on third-and-12. Magee would convert on two other third-down plays, plus one on fourth down, during the drive to set up the winning play.

It was Magee's second touchdown in the fourth quarter following a two-play sequence late in the third that had seemingly put all of the momentum on Salmen's side.

With the score tied at 21 and Franklinton at the Salmen 5, Magee kept and was tackled just short of the goal line. But he fumbled into the end zone, and the ball went out of bounds, giving the Spartans a touchback.

On the next play, Sams went 80 yards to put the Spartans ahead.

"He's just a winner," Franklinton Coach Shane Smith said of Magee, who is committed to LSU as a running back. "We are so fortunate to have a kid at quarterback who can make the throws and is also a threat to run the football." Magee was 13-19 for 250 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 76 yards, including a six-yard carry for the Demons' other TD.

Sams had 15 carries for 165 yards and two TDs, threw four times for 30 yards a score and also had three receptions for 75 yards.

Besides winning the district title for Franklinton, the victory meant that the Demons will likely be seeded ahead of Salmen (7-1, 2-1) in the playoffs. Last year, that was the home field tiebreaker between the two when they wound up paired against each other in the semifinals. And while it famously snowed in Franklinton, it was only cold and windy in Slidell.

I know we already knew about his stats and junk but I want Sams more than every other loser we have committed combined   :frown:

New Goal for WRSOAT . . . every guy they sign actually makes it to campus (outside of the usual sign and places), and is able to practice, with the stated goal of them actually suiting up for the first home game . . .

Will this be the year that every signee eligible to participate accomplishes these things??

sunrise has been around a long time and will never be part of KSHAA, that is how they can recruit and get good athletes to their school...
