Your formula doesnt work in excel.

It's probably more of a Google Sheets formula.

Maybe hatter is LHOFHCBS or Mo or something and that's why he's so defensive.

FWIW, I tend to agree w/ him.
Please don't ban me, Mr. Dave.

There is nothing new/surprising about this thread. The same recruiting discussion has been happening for around 20 years.

True, but it's extra melt downy today. M^2 is acting like this is the first time he's followed this team. When following recruiting at K-state, you gotta laugh so you don't cry. It eventually works out in the end.

I'm personally amazed that Manhatter can pull so much quality analysis from watching hilight footage of players.  It speaks to how much more he "gets" sports and being an athlete than the rest of you puds.  He's definitely earned the right to talk down to everyone who disagrees with him, because he told us he's almost always right on his projections.

Now all we have to do is sit back and watch Trey Dish"own"  the hatter haters.

well fvck me for having a mind and deciding to withhold trashing a kid until I actually watch some film, process it, and make a decision on my own.

I could always be the cool crowd...it's a robotic, programmed response:

=IF(AND(AND(B1="Kansas State",OR(C1="Offered",C1="Committed")),OR(B2:B10,="",AND(B2:B10<>"",C2:C10="")),A1,"<3 stars"),"Terrible","Good")

Your formula doesnt work in excel.

Why do you need people to agree with you so badly that you get angry at everyone who doesnt agree with you?

I hope you are right, and he is a good player.  But to others the observable evidence is pointing to our staff being concerned with missing on others.  recruiting is a crapshoot and players don't pan out. But generally speaking, higher rankings mean better players and results.  It's just weird that you get so mad at people disagreeing with your prognostications, which are based on your pseudo expertise.  We dont all need to agree with you, Lighten up man.

Live and let live, i say.

Of course the formula doesn't work in excel.

It would be tolerable if somebody made a judgment based on something other than a programmed response.  Plenty on here completely bash a commit if he isn't a certain ranking or offered by other schools.  It's comical.  Hell yes I take those folks to task.  It's tiresome and old.  And it doesn't require any thought to do so.

And why are they bashing?  I suppose they don't understand it's difficult to recruit to K-State so you do have to FIND players.  They might not always be a prospect everyone wants but if that were the case programs like Boise State would never win games or send kids to the NFL.  They do and we do.  Obviously not at the level of an Alabama but at least we're competing.

Why bash a kid if you known nothing about the kid.  In this case they are bashing a kid that not only they know nothing about but MANY of the schools they wished had interest in him know nothing about.

I don't mind if someone disagrees with me.  That doesn't bother me a bit.  What I do mind is when there is nothing but this default merit backing their argument.  Oh, so nobody else offered him...hmmm, that is why you bash the kid.  I get it.  You're incapable of forming a judgment based on your own acumen.

As for the other prospects.  Everybody knew about them beforehand.  Some of them were known of several years ago.  It isn't rocket science.  These programs have several hundred kids they are communicating with and gathering information on for the 2017 class....hundreds, if not thousands, more than that in the 2016 class.  I don't know the answer for why KSU offered him this late.  It may or may not have something to do with who they think they can get.  I think the likeliest scenario is that we were aware of Dishon but he developed a LOT in the past year and a half to the point where they felt comfortable with pulling the trigger.  He is one they would have worked to get a preferred walk-on.  It became evident he had other opportunities to schools like NWMS and Pitt State...and some are saying Baylor was talking an offer.

Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

Yeah, my whole point is that it's apparent our staff is whiffing on DT's (again) and therefore having to reach on prospects.  I'm sure Manhatter is a better high school talent evaluator than me because I don't spend any time watching high school kids film, because I don't care.  What I do care about is the future of the football team, and i'd prefer not leaving the cupboard full of a bunch of players that are reaches for the next coach.

and you think you care more than I do or the next guy?  do you think I'm happy about the talent we have?  Fvck no I'm not satisfied.

But our problem this past year wasn't the secondary at any of the positions (until Green got hurt) or DT.  And it wasn't at DE vs. the running game.  Our biggest problem was the lack of playmaking ability at mike and lack of pass rushers, period.  On offense it was the lack of offensive tackles (not Whitehair, but forcing him to play OT when he should have been at guard) and running back.

We're not hurting all over the place.  And I like some of the young talent coming up or entering the program.  And you can tell where our coaches like some of their young talent based on the positions they didn't hammer the JCs hard (offensive tackles being one of them).

We can be DAMN good without having elite playmakers all over the field.  We're never going to have that.  We get there by having a certain number of 3rd-5th year blue collar players at a number of positions sprinkled in with some playmakers on both sides of the ball.

This kid is very talented.  I don't give a damn who has not offered him.  I don't care if it is due to not landing some of those we are after.  This kid is BIG and he is athletic.

also continue the "it's hard to recruit to K-State" mantra.  We will have one of the nicest locker rooms/weight rooms/training table/etc in the entire country, we have a close group of players that almost all prospects mention.  crap we have direct flights to Dallas, yet we have 1 commit from the entire freaking state.

I guess lets just all hope Snyder lives and coaches forever and everyone can be happy.

just offered.

 :Wha:

How good is he?

He is good enough to be offered by Arkansas State, and not freakin  Sterling College.......

Doesn't mean much.

Interesting that people would mention the Ark St. offer and not the Nubb offer.

I don't know why anybody would have tons of faith in the rivals/espn/247 networks in coverage and evaluation of recruits. All three networks often disagree on 3 star prospects and list different strength and weakness. There are just to many prospects. Film is probably a better tool of evaluation for kids that don't go to the camps.

I've heard the "extremely athletic interior OL" spiel before and then I watch our O-Line get clowned by athletic DL's.

Ha.  Which guy along our interior OL this past year did I refer to as "extremely athletic"?  I've stated many times that Whitehair is a very good athlete for the guard position (which is why he does fine at tackle in college, too).  I certainly would not have used the athletic tag for either Finney or Stiverson.

Dax, you're such a pussy.  You rip on every recruit we get who doesn't have an offer from a program where you think the coach has it figured out.

Um, I didn't really say anything about the kid and I sure as rough ridin eff didn't say anything about his offer list.   If you're going to hit RockyMountainCat levels of hyper-defensiveness then walk on back to the 'Bash.
