Offer not pulled.  Mom's lying.  Pull head out.

I may know a bit more about the details of this than you do. And by "may" I mean "do".

Maybe we can get Thompson from OU to transfer here and play QB. Would he be any good? He could be eligible immediately

Based on how little skepticism there has been over anything Sharp's "mom" has been saying, i think someone should troll the crap out of some Nub message boards.

"I wanted Terrell to stay at NU, their rich tradition of academics and athletic excellence is very important to me, his mother.  But every time Bo would come visit, his leering empty gaze and urine stains were too off-putting."

Start with "I wanted Terrell to stay at NU, their rich tradition of academics and athletic excellence is very important to me, his mother. "

And once all the Nubers are  and  :jerk:, hit them with the "But every time Bo would come visit, his leering empty gaze and urine stains were too off-putting."

Strength doesnt seem to be his biggest asset, might be more a pass rushing DE.

just as i'm ok with a player pulling a commitment and looking elsewhere, i'm totally fine with a school pulling an offer if a commit decides to start looking around again.

This.

Do you guys not know the difference or just refusing to see the difference?
I'd be interested in hearing you parse the difference.

Yes. Hit me with some knowledge, MIR. I suppose I'm refusing to see it. :dunno:

Well first of all the school makes dozens of offers every single season. A kid gets to pick a school either once or twice, for a 17 year old it is the most important, impactful decision they have made time that point in their lives. To a coach its just another scholarship to fill.

If it turns out to be a bad fit the kid has to beg out of the commitment and hope he is granted a release so that he can go somewhere else and go on scholarship while he sits out a year or two just because he selected what turned out to be a bad fit. If the coach or the ad doesn't allow the kid to go where he wants then he can't get scholarshipped see Bryce Brown.  The messed up part is that if the coach decides he doesn't want the kid anymore he can just dump him without any penalty at all. If the coach decides he wants to leave he can leave again without penalty. A letter of intent binds the player for 4 years, it binds the school for a semester.

The system is completely tilted to favor the school and screw the athlete. If coaches don't want teenagers to flake out they shouldn't pressure them to make like altering decisions and then have to sit on that decision for months all while other coaches are telling him why his decision was wrong. These early commitments are 100% self serving for the coaches and schools and serves no benefit to the kid. The schools have the power to make decommitments less common but they are all rushing to fill their classes. If they have to do that then fine but I don't think its right to expect teenagers to be held to the same standard of 40, 50, 60, 70 year old men when the kids are the ones who are being rushed into these decisions.

The difference is why in the eff would we pull his offer you idiots? To show him who's boss? Well, good job fuckheads. You sure showed him! Now onto the most pressing remaining need in this recruiting class, the gaping hole at QB.
Well yeah.  I was interested in reading what I would assume was some kind of a moral argument by MIR.

Well this is an unexpected post.

I've always been interested in what I guess you might call the social morality of the college sports landscape and over the years I've gleaned from your posts that you are too.  I'm still not 100% sure where I stand on all the issues so I like hearing good arguments.  That's why I said I was interested in hearing your take.  Expressing interest in hearing your argument hardly seems out of line.

Steve Dave's response was the obvious pragmatic problem on K-State's end for pulling his scholly.  I was more interested in the point you were getting at.  Maybe "morality" wasn't the right word and you thought I was screwing with you, but my post was genuine and your initial response was exactly what I was hoping to read -- a strong argument spelling out the differences in bargaining vis-a-vis players and coaches at the stage a player commits to a university.

After I read your post I thought to myself, "yep those are good arguments."

Unless that "go eff yourself" was sarcasm, then you seriously misunderstood my last two posts in this thread.

Ignore Kmac224 (< sharps mom) you disgraced your family - shame on you for blaming the KSU family Reply

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the actions of your son and family.

Don't come on here and whine about the KSU family, coaches and not getting an email.

You and the way you raised your son became obvious to the entire KSU family.

Your son having a change of heart after 7 months is disrespectful , but we all have choices that we regretted and if he felt he made the wrong choice I can understand that.

But for your son to give a disgraceful interview, then you come on here and whine, then blame our coaches for your own actions is a disgrace.

This is the rare time when I can say thank goodness we found out their true character as it is obvious your family was not going be a good fit for the KSU-Bill Synder Family.

So, what the eff are we doing at QB now that Bill has decided he won't ever ever ever get back together with Sharp?

Sams is telling every rough ridin' person who will listen that he wants to switch positions so he can play.  Sure, I guess we can just switch him back later, but that hardly seems like the best move for real growth.

Ertz seems like another Dylan or Evridge to me....emergency QB only.

I guess we just punt on a QB this year give it the old college try again next year, eh?

Part of me thinks that Bill is making this horrible decision with Sharp BECAUSE he is retiring within a couple years or less, and just doesn't give a eff....like he just finally got too frustrated and said "eff it, not my problem"

I mean, the last time he retired he left us with the worst QB situation this school has had since 1989.
