He can make whitney DC as long as we wins 9+.  But, in doing so, he gets zero leeway when we don't.  If he had a few hotshot young coaches recruiting 4 star kids and we won 6 games I would be fine waiting it out for a couple years.  but, we are on a precipice that whenever this genius old codger kicks over (any moment) we are left with jack crap.  nobody can win with what we have but Bill. IT'S SCARY AS crap YOU GUYS!

So, what happens when we win 7 games this year?

Here's basically what I've come to accept with Snyder:

He doesn't care about recruting, doesn't place a priority on it, and doesn't place a priority with his assistants on it.  That's not going to change.

At one point, losing out on one of most talented players in Kansas to Okie State would have bothered me.  At this point, I've seen it so many times I don't really care.  Bill obviously doesn't care that much, so I really don't either.

I'm just along for the ride.  I enjoy the fact that he's a coaching savant and have learned to simply appreciate the fluke ten win season like last year.

I'm sort of on the same page . . . but there's really no excuse for this happen as often as it does.  But then again, I understand that schools are going to use things against K-State and Snyder and they're completely legit issues and NOT dirty recruiting on any level.

Plus, until the internal HCIW war is settled many of those issues that schools use against K-State are going to remain.

Yup, I think so.

The key is to just enjoy what we've got while we've got it, because the margin between success and failure is razor thin based on his inability to infuse talent into the program consistently.

Just sit back and enjoy the coaching wizardry, enjoy the crap out of the fluke magical season, and try not to get too mad when Tate Snyder takes over Arthur Brown and we win 4 games next year.

That's at least where I've gotten.

The "Whatever Bill wants Bill gets" . . . "Whatever Bill does is fine by me" ship sailed a long, long, time ago.

Too bad, Penn State didn't follow your philosophy Pete.

Yeah that's definitely what I was trying to say.  He's never, ever going to be fired and like it or not, it is "whatever Bill wants Bill gets."  Love it or hate it, that's reality.

So you might as well realize that while Bill's coach, we're going to have these crummy moments from time to time.  But we'll also have stupendous moments too.

Just roll with it.

One of my favorite ones that I was just reminded of, yet again.  At most schools its all fun and games, with a little light work tossed in now and again, at K-State its really, really, really hard work all the time.    That's why kids tend to be drawn to other schools, they don't want to work and .  . . they're afraid of the hard work at K-State.

I'm not sure why everyone freaks out about this crap.  Why can't it be the simple fact that HCBS is old, his staff is relatively old and they might not be the best recruiters given their advanced ages?  I'm pretty happy with the results on the field so I won't be jumping up and down pissing and moaning.  Yes I wish we had a few good, young hot shot recruiters, but I also remember when we had that a few years ago and we couldn't win crap.

Yeah, I just can't believe a 17 year old kid would pick 50 combinations of Nike uniforms and an NFL locker room with an iPad in every locker and player amenities on par with a W Hotel over "really nice people".

Seriously, how do these kids keep turning down The Legend?

I'll let you dumb fucks focus on stars, I'll keep focusing on 10+ win seasons and bowl games.  I'm satisfied playing in Cotton Bowls with reject players.  And I know what's next, it's the retort about "well yeah you'll be saying something different in 5 years when we suck because Old Balls can't get talent"...this is the goEMAW fall back position...if you can't argue with facts, argue about future success (or lack of success), that way you are never wrong.

Who is focusing on stars?  This is a very good athlete right down the road from Manhattan that K-State missed out on . . . again.   There's been ONE 10 win season in the last five under Snyder, during that stretch he's barely .500 , and its only going to get tougher with TCU and WVU in the league.   Patterson and staff have eaten the type of Offense that Snyder likes to run alive, and K-State always struggles against offenses like WVU's.

Did BMWJhawk hack dax's account?

Apparently not a lot of people watch college football on this board.  OSU has been really rough ridin' good for like 4 years in a row.  Not to mention this kid appears to be a WR, so it's probably fun to get like 80 catches a season and have 800 receiving yards and 10 TD's as a frosh.

Yeah, this is exactly where I am. For the rest of Bill's tenure, I will enjoy the crap out of 10+ win seasons, be satisfied with 9 wins, disappointed with 8, and I will want Bill's ass fired with 7 or less.

Yeah, no kidding. 7 wins is fine if you are rebuilding or something. It's a horrible season, otherwise.

Way to shut down the borders Bill!!

Being serious here.  Why is there a thought that schools should be able to "shut down the borders" and get, in our case, "the Kansas kids?"

Do people think that 17-year-olds have state pride or something?  There's a handful of possible economic/geographic reasons I can see for some kids wanting to stay close to home, but if I'm a recruit, I don't give a eff about going to the state school.  Give me good weather and fancy stuff.

I’m not really saying anything that isn’t known nor am I disagreeing with you, but there was a point in time where we did a better job of landing talented kids in KS.  It was in the 90’s , before the interwebs and recruiting sites really took off, and when OU and OSU were just awful.  For example, off the top of my head,  guys like Biesel, Rashaad Washington, Lamar Chapman, Simoneau, John McGraw, the Ochs family from HS’s and Jeff Kelly from CC’s (I know I’m spelling half their names wrong)…I’m not sure if they were coming up right now if they all go to KSU.  Specifically, the guys in south/central KS.  We “locked down” borders because we were the best, regional alternative.  We simply aren’t now.  We’re third.  Kids shouldn’t stay because of state pride, they should stay because ksu has recruiters that are good enough to get them to stay.  KSU does not.
