Yes.  He didn't play this year to my knowledge, so he's a redshirt on top of the grayshirt.

K-State has 10 H.S. guys committed, of those 10, outside of the K-State offer there are only 2 other BCS offers, and that's on the same kid.

There was a time when multiple BCS schools were all pi$$ed off and conjuring up all kinds of conspiracy theories about some of the kids K-State was landing.   I remember MU was irate about K-State landing David Allen, the OU Sooner fans were livid about multiple guys from Oklahoma signing with K-State, ku fans were pi$$ed . . .  we're not even sniffing those kinds of kids anymore.

SMH . . . oh and this isn't 1992, and K-State has a $55 million dollar athletic budget and has been to 14 or 15 bowl games in the last 2 decades, not painting a singular bowl appearance on the side of a 25 year old decrepit "temporary" pressbox and a $3.5 million dollar athletic budget.

Technically, with the grayshirts, we're looking at 17 HS guys committed.

And some of those grayshirts actually had multiple BCS offers like Seau, Davis, Burns, etc.

I know people don't want to count them, but they are a part of this class.

What dax said is legit, but you can't treat what Rivals has out there for offers as gospel.  Especially guys recruited by Kansas State.  Once the commit, they may be getting offers from other schools, but we'd never know about it because GPC is too busy playing beer pong at So Long to call and follow up with these kids.

The last 2 high school classes sport a combined 10 BCS offers, outside of K-State.

So Pan, the other rivals sites don't add offers?

In my ten years of membership there, it was hit or miss if a profile was updated correctly, and less so in the last couple of weeks because people were just trying to track down all of the commits before signing day, and they weren't necessarily concerned with the accuracy of the list.

Well, that's what we have to go on . . . I suspect if any other BCS schools were really up in arms about the high school kids we're signing, we'd hear a lot more about it.

Of course, you bring this up, and you get 20 pages of lectures by the tucks about how times are different, and schools like MU and OU are better then they were back then as if K-State's entire existence is a straight line in relation to other BCS schools.    The bottom line is, unless I am missing something, on the high school side we're not pi$$ing off anybody of note on the recruiting front . . . and I always have to caveat this by saying I am not implying we need to be landing an onslaught of 4 and 5 star guys.

JFC Dax.  We just went 10-3...give it a rest.  There are some quality kids in this class.  Is it "great"?  No.  Let it play out.

I've said it before and I'll say it again and again and again.  To be successful you need a lot of blue collar 3rd, 4th, and 5th year players and then some difference makers sprinkled in.

Tay Bender falls into your "no offers" category.  Do you think that isn't a quality prospect?  Whatever Snyder is doing seems to be working.  He really isn't even attempting to go after highly rated kids anymore...he expressed that in an article not long ago.  He stopped doing that in 2003 because the staff tried to and missed all over the place and when they went back for the other kids they had not spent much time with them.  The result was Donnie Anders type of recruits and the crap '04 and '05 seasons.

Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

Also is CJ (that's a pretty good nickname imo) a good looking guy or what?  Gosh, that guy is going to break some hearts in MHK.

We don't have Venables sitting in come closet in GCCC somewhere, pretending to be an OU coach, no.  I will concede the point where I wish we had some guys with more zeal on the recruiting front.  That's kind of why I was hoping for Ekeler here.  I want a guy like KU had with Doren several years ago where your other coaches do the cold calling, but when you get a live one, this guy gets on the line and brings them home.  I thought Crash could be that guy for us if there was mutual interest there.

We would have made the ISU guys irate (like we always did) had whatever happened at Arky State not happened.  And, if we get Goines, I'm sure MU will be plenty upset.

Not only do I not buy the rankings on some of these kids but I don't buy the offer list.  Some of these programs sites pander to their subscribers and sugar coat by adding a few offers to make it look better.  It is seen and reported on the main rivals board frequently.  I look at a kid like Tyler Lockett last year...he committed early and had more quality BCS schools inquiring late but he was done.  I read an article on Travis Britz that stated Pittsburgh had an offer coming but he told them he was done.

Sams would have had a long list of offers had he taken or returned calls from other schools...he listened to OU and Miami a few times and then started cutting everyone off.

Do people on this board seriously think those Blinn kids picked Arkansas State over Big 12 programs?  Just think about that one for a while.  Hayes is a talented player but he has very few options.  He doens't even have an offer from KSU.  Do some logic and common sense on that one.  Porter just went from aTm to ISU to Arkansas State.  I'm sure kids from the Houston area dream of decommitting from aTm only to wind up in Jonesboro playing sun belt teams.  Again....something doesn't add up.

Jones committed to KSU in August?  But Rivals says he committed today?

http://highschoolsports.nola.com/news/article/1270107530087962180/mandeville-rb-charles-jones-commits-to-kansas-state/

Then he had over 2000 total yards and 20 TDs for a team that made it to the state semifinals in Louisiana.

That earned him zero stars on Rivals.  Although I'm sure they will throw up 2 or 3 before signing day just like they did for Deante Burton.

But you people trust that Rivals is correct on his offer list?

in this case, yes.  He's 5'10 180 and not all that fast.  He is a very tough runner.  I could see this kid gaining about 20-25lbs and improving his speed a power and becoming a really solid back.  Of course he may never materialize.  He's a bit of a reach but we'll see how it plays out.

Being 20 something under the scholarship limit, I think we can take a chance on a running back.
