K-state is Leonard and Sharp is PennyPenny is super psyched because she got an audition for a recurring role in a major network drama (UCLA).  One the one hand Leonard wants what's best for Penny.  But the drama is filmed on location in Thailand and she'd probably start dating the producer and she'll break up with Leonard.  So on the other hand Leonard secretly hopes the Jennifer Aniston's of the world (the 4/5 star QB's) get the part instead.  Leonard harbors a deep seeded feeling of guilt, but he knows he would love Penny until the Earth is consumed by the sun when it goes supernova.

And if you don't think telling a recruit in this situation at the most important position in football "well that may jeopardize your scholly" isn't something that would happen at any program even trying to be somewhat big-time, then i dunno what to tell you. It goes both ways, recruits can drop us and we can drop recruits, all you have is a verbal agreement and it's absolutely the right thing to do by k-state in this situation. So there!

Then recruiters are stupid. In sales, you should never, ever make yourself look inferior to your competition because you are scared for your customer to even try it.

You should encourage your customers to try your competition, but before hand, you subliminally fill them with all of the bad things you want them to see so the will focus on those things instead of the palm trees & blondes.

Just looking out for you.  But you should probably just stay away from message boards like these.  You aren't going to be happy with things you read a majority of the time.

Good luck to him at UCLA.  He is missing an opportunity of a lifetime to learn how to be a great person/man/husband/father whatever he might become at K-State.  That is something Snyder takes pride in.  Others might say they do, but the proof is in the pudding.

Go Cats! K-State #1!

It's not that dude. It's really just the timing. We may miss out on getting a good qb if he flips this late so we were just letting him know that we'll probably have to look around and make sure we don't get mumped.

Right decision would be to honor a commitment.  If he wanted to take the visits he should have took them then made the decision.  With that said, I am done trying to help you mentor your son.  Good luck.  He had a real good opportunity at K-State.  Hope he doesn't live to regret it.1/15 9:52 AM | IP: Logged

a) I don't blame Sharp or his parents for exploring options. I would advise against posting on message boards for parents of any recruit. Or even reading them.

b) K-State is in a bind when a commit starts to look and I can't blame them for saying "jeopardize your scholarship". K-State has to look themselves and have their own options, and likely in a case like this having Sharp committed for so long likely hurt our ability to recruit other quarterbacks.

This is why football recruiting with no early signing period has always been a mess. I think it especially hurts a program like K-State which (be honest) only has so much to offer to an early commit. When a guy who committed early starts looking history has shown that it often doesn't end well for K-State.

You don't threaten the scholarship.  You tell him that if he looks around, that we have to as well.  People understand the latter.  The first one would make me think that it is an indication of how I could be handled down the road and who needs that crap?

here's the thing about threatening to yank his scholly: it's a hilariously sad bluff by our hilariously sad old non-recruiting rough ridin' coaching staff and makes us look like bigger losers than we already do on the recruiting front.

sounds like it depends on if UCLA or Washington get their first choice or not more than anything.

I think you're right.

Sucks for Sharp that those 2 schools who are absolutely trying to recruit over him and would absolutely love to offer someone else besides him interferes with his recruitment at the last minute.  Its sad they are leading him on because he is something like 10th on their list.

It is almost certain UCLA and Washington will recruit over him in next year's class - after he has burnt his red shirt and he may not have a shot at earning a starting job until 2016 after he transfers or 2018 if he stays at UCLA/Wash.

What good is Beverly Hills, Bel-Air and LA Country Clubs when you're a poor college kid?  Westwood is also not in the best of areas.

I know all this because I live in Southern California.
