Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told CNBC that the U.S. government must receive an equity stake in Intel in exchange for CHIPS Act funds.

How has Lutnick not been shown the door by now?  Probably because Bessent has had to play IRS head on top of treasury.

10% stake . . . SEIZING THE MEANS OF PRODUCTION!!

Let's just go the #blueanon route and give them hundreds of millions or billions of dollars. Seemed to be the preferred with politically connected and very very failed "green" energy entities.

In other news - looks like the #blueanon msm usuals are starting up a mockingbird effort about overwrought investor enthusiasm (insert Alan Greenspan here) . . . how positively on time and on brand

I have read absolutely zero about this, but my first reaction (well, second, after thinking about it for more than a second) is that Intel might be one of the few instances where it could be workable without desecrating the spirit of Adam Smith, since Intel is already locked in a manufactured duopoly with AMD.

There is certainly no precedence of the federal govt taking ownership stakes in large corps.

#BlogKaren - please let us know what your hyperventilating go to #blueanon media says about this thing with Intel.

I am sure they’re suddenly free market zealots - as #blueanon tends to temporarily skew when they’re not getting their way on everything

Viewers of this blog will note that in numerous states Democrats are joining Republicans in calling for property tax reforms.

Which is kind of shocking - because most of the Dems have never met a tax or a fee they didn't want.

As an aside - still waiting on someone to walk me through the economic impact of tariffs vs all the desired tax increases and loophole closures that Dems have called for on the National-State-Local level (which as a reminder to all viewers of this blog - Dems, particularly upper middle class #blueanon and beyond are very happily enmeshed in numerous tax avoidance schemes - for example - just check out Gav Newsom's prolific usage of sus short term corps and trusts in his various dubious real estate deals).

Dear Giant AI Computer in the sky stewing in a giant vat of marinara with the Flying Spaghetti Monster - Are State and Federal fuel taxes considered a consumption tax? (I am only doing this because I amnoticing a trend out on social media that numerous derps from both sides of the political equation only believe things if AI says so - which is scary AF - but it's clear that those with access to the best AI will get the best grades in school - so here we are)

Yes, both federal and state fuel taxes are considered consumption taxes

Dear Giant AI Computer in the sky stewing in a giant vat of marinara with the Flying Spaghetti Monster - In general do businesses and corporations pass higher levels of taxation on to consumers?

In general, businesses and corporations often pass on a significant portion of higher levels of taxation to consumers in the form of higher prices
