The amount of people that think iPhones and chips(not delicious potato chips) are going to be built in America is way too rough ridin' high.

Why not? Just a slight improvement in robotics could allow onshoring. And we can and do make chips here, so I dunno what you mean.

The Trump appointee who did the job before her disagrees.

I have yet to see one single piece of evidence that anything wrong was done. Not one. No, false documents, improper influence, nothing.

But keep on Daxing
Only a complete dumbass doesn’t understand the timing of the bullshit numbers.

It walks hand in hand with Liz Warren out there on the circuit trying to shame Powell into lowering interest rates . . . when at that time it would have been 1000% a political move.

Viewers of this blog are now reminded that Jerome Powell’s Fed is $240 billion in the red, is now projecting no remittances out to 2027 and by all accounts is an operational budget crap show which only makes the $3.5 billion (and counting) they’re spending on their offices even more Marie Antoinettish.

But #blueanon/blueanongE is going to go balls deep in each other defending that guy.

LMAO at #blueanongE now micro analyzing the economy after the 4 years of economic fraud they still attempt (poorly) to defend.

#blueanongE: Thy name is hyper-partisan derp

Viewers of this blog are once again reminded that in the middle of the Pedo Pete years. When we should have been in the midst of the most ass kicking economic recovery in world history. The markets dropped collectively 30%.  We also experienced multiple successive quarters of GDP decline (aka a recession) and we experienced the longest period of transitory inflation in modern economic history.

they are basically the only manufacturer that can make "good" chips. they make nvidias good ones. nobody can make chips like they can. a lot of rabble rousing around taiwan has been about the chips but I think china just likes to take land and especially extremely "profitable" land (see hong kong).

also a lot of people have pushed them to move manufacturing to the USA for that reason (I mean, they use that as the reason but obviously it would be very beneficial to the USA to have them here)

China wants Taiwan because they believe it belongs to them. Tsmc is the reason the US is interested.

The Taiwan Relations Act was passed in 1979.
TSMC was founded in 1987.

Seems like a real pickle for us on TSMC, hope we can figure it out before they inevitably get invaded.

How did Taiwan get so good at chips?
Was there like the Thomas Edison of chips living there or was there something about the economic climate there that made the chips grow?

A couple years ago, I heard a stat that TSMC made 98% of those chips.  They could basically pick winners if they wanted to.  They could put a 3-10 yr strangle hold on a country, if they so choose, because it takes up to 10 years to build and commission a plant that can produce chips to this quality reliably, apparently.

It feels more Marie Antoinette to build a giant, ostentatious ballroom and tack it on the side of the White House imo

Use adult words and explain what part the taxpayers are covering of that ballroom.

Viewers of this blog will note that this is fantastic example of #blueanongE deflection.  Hey Jerome Powell's Fed is a total crap show, so lets meltdown about something taxpayers aren't paying for . . . as the time since the last Fed remittance to our Treasury flies headlong into its 3rd anniversary.

I join Sec. Bessent in calling for an independent private audit of The Fed.  Prepare for the usuals having a total meltdown about it . . .  as expected.

Viewers of this blog will also note that it's full on DerpCon One out of #blueanongE when it comes to CHIP manufacturing . . . not a single solitary soul that I've seen is saying that all CHIPs will be made in the United States.  Only a complete derp ass doesn't understand the need to ensure that we have significant US based capacity to make CHIPS.  Intelligent viewers like me will also note that there is significant movement on the national security level to seek out alternative sources for rare earth metals and to greatly increase production/mining of rare earth materials on the North American continent whenever possible.

It was hegemony then. I think times have changed now that China has the military and economic abilities to potentially eff our faces.

I've worked in semiconductors for 25 years. For a little over a year I worked for a small firm that was looking to on shore manufacturing of certain rad hard chips seen as important for various national security reasons (that place sucked though so I got the hell out).

More or less no politicians know jack crap about this industry.

Yes, it is important to have domestic fabs in certain nodes. No, what Trump is doing as far as tariffs are concerned in this space does not make any sense at all.

In fact for three quarters in a row, the first slide discussing business risk at our company (my current company doesn't make much of anything important for national security) all-hands is always about the administration.
