Thorpe confirms visit to KSU on Oct 29, sounds like Evans recently dropped in to see him.
THORPE SET TO VISIT KANSAS STATE; SCHOOLS COMING BY SHALER
Geno Thorpe had an impressive summer playing with the NJ Playaz 16U squad on the AAU circuit. The athletic 6-foot-3, 175-pound guard had toyed with the idea of transferring from Shaler Area High School to a few different programs in New Jersey, but he is staying put this season and looking forward to a big season in front of friends and family.
“Just being around my family so they could always come see me play,” said Thorpe about what was the biggest factor in staying at Shaler for his junior season. “I’m looking forward to going to states and making a run and trying to win it all [this season].”
Like the Western Pennsylvania area, Shaler is not known as a big basketball producing hot spot. However several college coaches have already found their way to the Pittsburgh-area school, including assistants from Kansas State (Lamont Evans) and Penn State (Brian Daly) with assistants from Baylor (Jerome Tang) and Wisconsin (Lamont Paris) expected this week. One unofficial visit has already been scheduled to this point.
“October 29th to Kansas State,” said Thorpe when asked if any visits were set. “That’s all so far.”
Those four schools are certainly in the mix, along with three schools from what is currently the BIG EAST.
“Pitt (tickets), Rutgers (tickets), Seton Hall (tickets), Kansas State, Wisconsin, Baylor and Penn State,” said Thorpe of the schools he is currently actively considering.
Thorpe, who has been closely following the BIG EAST news of the past weekend as he has grown up a fan of the conference, says he currently has no leaders with the schools recruiting him.
“No favorites at this point [as] everyone is doing a great job recruiting me,” he said.
