funny thing is that they still have kivisto’s name on the turf

it seems to me that the current focus is on building super expensive apartments on every corner. but what we need is people building wealth through home ownership. them not being able to buy into owning a home affects us all.

I used to work the k-state basketball camps during the summers and one summer mitch came back to appear at one of the sessions.

well, every night after the campers were sent back to their dorms, the current and former players, and others working the camp, would play pick up games for a couple hours in the upper ahearn gyms.

mitch was one of the pick up team captains and as the two captains were picking teams, he looked over and pointed at me and said, in these exact words “i’ll take slim”.

anyway that’s how I got to share the court with a  6 time nba all star and game mvp. he could drain it from anywhere on the court.

How many dimes did you drop to Mitch?
let’s just say he wasn’t disappointed in his draft pick

one thing about poison ivy that you never want to do is burn it. the oils turn to vapor and will seriously damage your lungs.

the goat thing is real, the ivy doesn’t effect them

they are now allowing you to get both cards so apply for the CSP and get the bonus then cancel CSR after the fee hits and they'll refund it.
I don’t think that has been rolled out yet.

CSR for business.....200k UR bonus with a $30k spend in 6 months.  Just got this and am working on cancelling our Ink.  Converted our personal CSR to preferred to let the business pay the high annual fee instead of paying it on our personal side.
I saw that this morning, contemplating making the jump

I have highwayed more tractor miles than most people have driven in their lives. I never stressed it. Even with massive triple fold sweeps and whatever. Also right through town including the one stop light and massive drainage dips all the time.

our dog has been suffering with a "hot spot" on his back leg. He has to wear a cone to keep him from licking it like crazy.
I would post a pic but I'm respecting his delicate ego at this difficult time.

Essentially Flyertalk / songs in your heavy rotation

i’ve been listening to a lot of the cult lately.

do they have any other good songs besides this one? been a yuge fan of the song since Layer Cake (2004)
yeah man a lot of good music in their catalog and their evolution is probably apparent.

their next album after Love was Electric . whereas Love seemed more fringe, Electric definitely targeted more mainstream and had a late 80’s rock feel to it. it spawned several songs that found their way to radio stations beyond what KJHK was playing and expanded their audience.

from there, they released Sonic Temple (1989) and it’s essentially a polished version of Electric, which is to say, very good if you like ian’s voice.

for me, that’s where they peaked. those three albums.

they were the opener for metallica’s damaged justice june 1989 stop at sandstone and iirc sucked quite badly at that show.

full netflix documentary binge mode recently

The Many Deaths of Nora Dalmasso - about a murder in Argentina ... kind of nice to know other countries can be as sick as us from a culture and media standpoint!
Gone Girls, the one about the long island serial killer - had no idea! very good documentary, sick story.
the one about Fred and Rose West the serial killers in england - holy crap!
Mayor of Mayhem, the one about Rob Ford - what a rascal, sad that he died. seemed like maybe he was going to turn things around.
Titan, the one about the titanic submersible - was really looking forward to this one and it seemed a little underwhelming
Untold - Shooting Guards, the one about Gilbert Arenas and Crittenton bringing guns to the locker room ... crazy story! had forgotten a lot of the details
A Deadly American Marriage - the one about the irish guy that married an american woman, moved to america, and then she and her dad killed him (in self defense? you be the judge!) - crazy!
Untold - The Fall of Favre, sketchy dude!
Oklahoma City Bombing - incredibly sad, seems like this gets forgotten a lot of the itme
American Manhunt, Osama Bin Laden - America!
Untold - The Liver King - meh. he sucks.
I'm Time, the story of Avicii - sad sad sad. didn't realize how much of his music i was aware of.
bro man we need to have some binge watching sessions together, this is all my stuff right here

a five week watch of breaking bad seems borderline ridiculous, impressive.  i watched BCS many years after BB and it was kinda refreshing?  less frustrating at times for sure, v much enjoyed
why ridiculous?

‘Clams, try Saul next.
what an unexpected surprise his character was! it’s on my list to watch.

i bought a mac book pro a long time ago and never really learned how to use the operating system.

i decided that although i do appreciate the coolness factor of the mac book, i prefer to stick with the windows computers and apple for phone/ipad.

i started watching “breaking bad” for the first time about five weeks ago and just finished it up tonight.  what a wild ride that was! i found it sometimes so difficult to watch but was always interested in watching what happened next.

if you’re looking for something to watch this summer, I recommend giving it a try. the series was masterfully executed.

Kansas State Football / Dream tailgating spread master thread
« on: June 24, 2025, 07:33:09 PM »
Here’s a delicious and spirited tailgating menu for the upcoming K-State vs. Iowa State game in the fall of 2025:

Main Courses
   •   K-State Wildcat Chili: Hearty beef, beans, tomatoes, onions, and chili chowder—classic and warming
   •   Iowa State Salsa Steak Sandwiches: Grilled ribeyes with salsa?sour cream spread on hoagie buns—easy to prep and grill
   •   BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches: Slow?cooked pork shoulder with coleslaw—tailgate staple near Manhattan

Sides & Appetizers
   •   Grilled Bacon Wrapped Corn: Iowa style corn on the cob wrapped in bacon, brushed with ranch—an homage to Iowa harvest
   •   Spicy Edamame Pods: Perfect Midwest twist, skewered with chili seasoning
   •   Beef Pinwheels & Chili Cheese Dog Dip: Great nibblers from Kansas Farm Food’s playbook
   •   Jalapeño Poppers: Cream cheese?filled, bacon wrapped—universally loved

Cold Salads & Make Ahead Snacks
   •   Italian Pasta Salad: Keep it cold, fresh, and easy to serve
   •   Snack Mix & Kettle Corn: Sweet salty combos like Honey roasted peanuts, kettle corn—ideal for grazing
   •   Scotcheroos: Rice crispy treats with chocolate topping—grab and go Iowa favorite

Dips & Crowd Pleasers
   •   Million-Dollar Dip: Rich, cheesy, bacon-packed—crowd pleaser
   •   ** Buffalo Chicken Dip**: A Midwestern tailgate classic in a crockpot
   •   Rotel Sausage Dip: Southern hit with minimal effort

Dessert
   •   Seven Layer Bars (no bake!) or Pecan Pie: Simple sweet finishes, both portable and satisfying
   •   Grilled Donuts: Heat store bought donuts on the grill for that toasty goodness

Drinks
   •   Powercat Purple Punch (non?alcoholic): Grape/lemon soda, lemonade concentrate, blueberries—game day themed
   •   Iowa Old Fashioned: Bourbon + corn syrup tie in celebrating Iowa’s corn heritage
   •   (Optional) Black Magic Cocktail: For a spicy kick—bourbon, chili liqueur, cinnamon twist

Tailgating Tips
   •   Prep ahead: Dips, desserts, and sandwiches travel best if made the day before.
   •   Bring warming gear: Crockpots or insulated dispensers for chili/soup.
   •   Team spirit setup: Decor in purple/silver for K-State or cardinal/gold for ISU – tablecloths, plates, napkins
   •   Pack utensils & games: Cornhole, KanJam, plus essentials like serving spoons and plates.

This menu balances Midwest tradition, team pride, and easy prep—so you spend less time cooking and more time cheering. Good luck on game day!
