Kansas State Basketball / Re: What a downer
« on: Today at 03:16:43 PM »

Oscar giveth. Oscar taketh away. His floor is his ceiling. Most fortunate draw of all time provided a smoke screen last year.

9 seeds don't get a fortunate draw. We played 2 games against better seeds, two games against worse seeds. I'm sure you'll find this is the case for most 6-11 seeds that have made the elite 8 in the 64 team era?

You know what's odd? I hear some mention that oscar got lucky that the got to play a team who beat the one seed, but I never hear those same people talk about the misfortune of having to play a clearly misseeded Kentucky team in '14. They played the best team in the country in an 8-9'game. Just as I'm sure I won't hear the same about this year's team facing a 30+ win team with the nation's longest winning streak in a 4-13 game.

It's a total crapshoot. UK was definitely an unlucky draw. I know nothing about UC Irvine but sure let's call it unlucky.

oscar did a great job this year on a team with a razor thin margin for error because he needed to play three seniors, two of which were injury prone, 35+ minutes a game to win. The conference title says way more about the job he did than the one game fluke

what did oscar do that any other competent coach wouldn’t have done that made the job he did so worthy of praise?

i can tell you one thing that he did that no other coach with a pulse would not have, and that’s sitting his senior guard for as long as he did because he had 2 early fouls.

Winning a conference championship isn't worthy of praise? Can you list all of the other P5 coaches with a pulse with 2 conference titles the last 6 years? I know Coach K isn't on that list.

i think that with the team he had this season, including 3 seniors - 2 of which were all conference players, he should have shared the conference.  maybe i'm being too tough, i guess he didn't screw it up?
you've played the coach k, 2 conference titles card a couple times and i get it but i also think that this team's weaknesses falls on oscar.  i'm certainly not trying to pile on the guy but think that this team did everything they could with what their coach gave them.
he could have given them a lot more.   seriously, what coach would have sat BBJ and not realized that UC-I took that game at that tie at half?  momentum and chemistry is a lot in CBB and he decided to do what his coach in 8th grade taught him to do instead of giving his team the best chance to win.

you're probably sitting on your couch wondering how we will know when the mob is back.
simple.  the carl and mary ice mob meter.  i picture a 100 foot tall vertical LED meter positioned where the band currently is located, we can move them behind the two north endzone video boards.

the meter will measure, in real time, the intensity of the mob (and the job security of scott hazleton)

kady telling john that he makes her not want to have kids was hilaro.  he must have some serious skeletons in his closet.

i want this mob to be the standard by which all other mobs are measured.  imagine, in your mind's eye, a mob so mobby that other mobs dream of being in our mob.  eff the flash mobs too.  right in the anus.  if our mob isn't the mobbiest mob out there then hazelton needs to be canned (by no later than week 2).

hazelton, you've been warned and are officially on notice, we will can your ass

I mean, it’s clear now that Barry is the tops in this senior class, I think #2 is up for debate, and if Kam has a good tourney, the debate is over.

yep.  barry gave a lot more to this team than wade because he had a lot more to give.
he’s a player that coaches love to have on their team but rarely do.  oscar was lucky to have bbj.

dean, we hardly knew ya

he will be remembered for much more than he was.
i mean, 12 ppg.  if his jersey does get retired i’d expect to see hanging up in the rafters only part of the time.

don't post virus links, greg

you don't apologize to someone in hopes that it will change the way someone views you

yeah, several over the line comments and no apologies either, not a good look.  i cringed when browsing the twitterverse on sunday morning.  being level 7 isn't an excuse.

This is definitely the deepest backcourt K-State has or will have in my lifetime. It is incredible.

Most shallow frontcourt tho :frown:

If you had to pick, you'd pick our problems every single time.

so would oscar.  as in, oscar has his pick and has picked our problems, ever-y single time.

to oscar, big men are like the rice at chipotle.  kinda have to have them in your burrito but it would be ok if they were out of rice.

don’t most schools have their men’s basketball and football programs under ncaa investigation concurrently?

it was addressed in the DIREKTORS KUT of KORN'S KORNER featuring BRAD KORN but not the regular OTA broadcast.

BRAD KORN said he's worried that SIU won't be able to afford him though so it's probably not an issue.  BRAD should be ours for the foreseeable future.  cha-ching.

it seems like we've been running roughshod over the big 12 forever even though we've basically only been owning it since the last 10 years.
and even though hoops is a hob sport, when you couple all of the success of football and basketball it kinda seems like we've outgrown our conference membership and should start strongly looking elsewhere.

imagine the feeling of once and for all getting rid of lil hayseed hawk in lawerentucky and moldy gingers from iowa state.

the big 12 can't handle two programs the size of ours and texas and i think we should flip bowlsby deuces and apply for membership in the ACC.  many of the flagship schools in that conference share our pedigree of excellence.  there's blue bloods which we can safely now consider ourselves one of, and a lot we could offer once we break the b12 anchor we've had around our ankle.

if the acc comes calling, and i'm pretty sure that talks have already begun with them and ADGT, we have to take flight and let our purple wings fly freely.

any reason to stay in b12 other than to continually own these noobs year in and year out?

if we win the big 12 tournament (which should be incredibly easy considering how shitty the rest of the conference is), we will definitely get the midwest 3 seed
