when you shoot it close to the line, you know where you are and are more consistent.  When you start moving out, you start guessing more and percentage goes way done.  Also, you're further away, so thats working against you and all.

No offense though albatross.  All things being equal, I would love to see him develop a half court shot

OK.  That's funny.

I understand that he has a comfort zone and things obviously change when you start moving back.

I am not saying to shoot the NBA 3 every time down.  Just develop a little bit deeper range so he can get a couple more shots off.  Jake shot the deeper 3 often, Will shoots it a little deeper too once in a while.  I know that they are different types of players, but Rod is too good of a player to not be able to move a couple feet every once in a while.  Would be great if he could just pop off a high screen and nail a couple from deep.

That being said, seeing him take the ball to the basket the way he has recently is a great addition to his game (i guess b/c he is healthy this year) and will only open up his shot right on the line more.

Jamar goes up like a pussy!

Rod takes it up strong as well as shooting his floaters.  Very odd that he doesn't get fouled more imo.

Love the fact that Rod has emerged as our goto player this year!  This team needed 1.

I do have one thing that Rod needs to improve upon and that is his range.  He needs to be able to hit 3's from 3-4 feet beyond the line.  I can count on 1 hand how many 3's I have seen Rod make that weren't within a foot of the line.  Doesn't seem comfortable unless he is right on the line.

This would give him a ton more shots and also open up his driving even more.

What a stupid rough ridin' post, albatross.

no offense

No offense taken, but please explain why...b/c of my venom towards JamSam???  Before the season, I thought Jamar should be the best player on the team, but he always seems to go up soft when he plays agains guys that are bigger than him.  He does get to the ft line a ton, but it is rarely for an and 1.

Still don't like it, but I am afraid you are right.

my other quibble with your analysis would be that a turnover is far worse than an assist is good.

how so?  isn't an assist worth more than two points and a turnover worth less than two?

Turnovers come from not using your head and making poor decisions (which plagued the Cats all season long).  I am more forgiving (but not much more) of Jake's turnovers b/c most of them cam from being aggresive.  Everyone else on the team had more turnovers from dumb passes or telegraphing passes.  Assists also take 2 people to complete whereas a turnover is normally a product of 1's effort (or lack thereof).

Shane shoots FT's well.  :dunno:

This he does.  Really has surprised me.  He also had a decent game against Utah St.

As far as comparing recruiting rankings to what has been seen on the court.  That makes no sense to me.

I may be over-critical of Shane b/c of mistakes I have seen...but I jus't don't see much potential.  I hope I am wrong and next year I am eating crow b/c he comes out and is a shutdown defender and averages 6-8 pts a game (trying to make goals attainable).  Maybe grab 4 boards a game and distribute the ball much better than this year.

1.1 a/to ratio is awful.  Please don't use that as a talking point to hype up your boy.  I don't give a crap if it's 2nd or 3rd best on the team.  Not like it's head and shoulders above Tay's .7 ratio.

As far as Tay pissing down his leg...he is one of 2 players to actually show up against Duke this year.

 @ people that think Southwell's offense sucks. He didn't light anyone up this year (though did have a couple 4-4 fg/10 pt games), but I guarantee you by halfway through next year he'll be draining 15 footers with his eyes closed.

What has he done to make you think that?  The kid only averaged 7 pts a game as a senior in High School.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see anything from this kid that I like other than his wingspan.

:woot:

though it'd be weird to have the lone known '12 go to another wing.

They will more than likely recruit for a 3 person class.  I quit trying to figure out schollie numbers with this staff a while ago.

I hope he isn't as much of a disappointment as Shane Southwell is/was.
:bait:   :ck:

I just hate him. The other thing that I just don't understand is why people think he is a good player.

This. I really don't think he is that good either. His defense is average and his offense is pathetic.

Other than the Texas game, the only thing that Southwell did for the Cats this year is...he improved the team picture.

Great...another guard that can't shoot.

12
nba players are much more likely to make a jumpshot, which is the most likely shot selection if you are getting something off quick.

This.

90% of the time an NBA team has at least 4 guys on the floor that can hit a 15 footer over 50% of the time.

Very rarely done in college basketball.

If frank is going to leave now is the time!

Nah.  Let Pearl recruit for a full year without NCAA restrictions.

Joe Lunardi is a fraud.  It's not that tough to do what he does.  At the end of every year, it comes down to about 5-6 teams for 3 spots.

He is just some geek that never got picked on the team so he decided that he was going to know more facts about sports than anyone else.

Just looking for a radio stream online to play here at work  :users:

Possibly 1510 in KC.  810 sister station.  No idea what their website is.  Otherwise you may just have to find a station from the teams playing.

17
All the games are televised every year in KC.  Locally on 38 or some form of ESPN.

Today's games are also all on espn3 so at least you can watch it online.

I know they weren't televised in Manhattan when I went there.  No idea about now, maybe a Topeka station picks it up.

18
If by local, you are talking about KC.  Channel 38 has the games this afternoon.

Please just keep this a 64 team tourney..  at no Nebraska, CU and OU

Hate it.  Cinderella schools from no-name conferences are what make the tourney great (if you don't count gambling), not early "quality" matchups b/w some sh*tty BCS school and Kentucky.  Why does anyone care if Kentucky, or the likes, blows out Holy Cross or NC State?

Adding 32 teams to a tournament, that otherwise wouldn't make it, does not improve the quality.  It's common sense.  Anyone that doesn't understand this is either Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) or a democrat.

The difference is... :dunno:

Pretty decent technique.

That was about 7 or 8 rows in front of my seats.

Your seats must blow!

I like to think about the possibilities too, but with the tournament starting tomorrow, now is not the time to worry about it.

I think now is exactly the time to worry about it.

#2 seed should be getting pressed in any and all convos with recruits and recruit's fam.

I am referring to we as fans should not be concerned about it.  If I am on the coaching staff, I am playing up everything from the 2 seed to Vitale picking us for the final four when I am talking with recruits.  That being said, I don't want to become the answer to a trivia question tomorrow.

I am sure that we are out recruiting all over the place and especially on the East coast.  I just think that the lack of news is b/c the writers for the K-State recruiting sites are brutal when it comes to basketball.

Sys, I also think you tend to over-obsess about recruiting.  Don't get me wrong, I like to think about the possibilities too, but with the tournament starting tomorrow, now is not the time to worry about it.

He wants it.  Wouldn't there be a rule about Art recruiting anyone he has coached for?  It'd be like making sure we did not get AR-11.

I might be wrong, but I don't believe the new rule applies to anyone hired as assistant coaches.  I think the rule is more to stop the "director of basketball operations" positions and other made up titles.

That being said...I doubt we hire Art.  I actually doubt that Charlotte is ready to hand over the keys to Dalonte.

Will there be single session tix available or do I have to go a week without crack to save up the 210 bucks for the "all sessions" ripoff.

Best route might be to call Lehigh and let them know you will be cheering agains Kansas.

Also just one dry week won't kill ya.
