Kansas State Football / Re: It's Venables
« on: November 26, 2017, 10:30:07 PM »
I like Venebles, and I am rooting for him as a human to just keep making $1M+ a year as a DC without the hell of being on stage 24-7 as a HC.

Winning a 2nd NC and seeing your asking price go to somewhere between $4+M and $7+M can make a lot of hell tolerable.

I'm afraid that at some point soon, if we've not already reached it, we've priced ourselves right out of the market for him.

But on the upside, Schiano's probably available at a good price. Might even be willing to take a defensive position coaches job first. Hmmmm?

How likely is Strong to dip on USF? Doesn't seem like the type to ride one good season
 out and abandon.

Let's see what Charlie does with his own team. Not Wille Taggert's. On the positive side, he's obviously smart enough not to f*ck with a good thing (that being team he inherited).

But Bret? Nope. He's another DC that should probably stay as DC. Somewhere but somewhere else.

Sean is the same age Bill was when we hired him. What if we can recapture that lightning?

Who would be his Venables, Stoops, Mangino, Leavitt, etc?

No, it's "fundamentally sound". In basketball it's called "court awareness". Black players get the usual "raw athleticism" or something similarly offensive.

So is a grown man being called a "young buck" similarly offensive? Maybe someone can combine the two and watch heads explode.

If we're going to go after failed Ark HC's, let's go all in and see if Bobby Petrino wouldn't be interested.

He's not headed to being just another grossly obese HC (and subsequent HUGE medical insurance premium)
He rides a Harley (possible be the lead rider for the next Harley Day)
He's .500 in bowl games
Has a career .71 winning percentage
and,

he gets himself fired so we wouldn't actually have to pay him like that other school in Ks has been doing (and we secretly did w/ RP)

Sounds like a win-win to me.

Would be impossible to prove, but my gut says we win that game rather handily with a healthy Delton or Ertz.

I'm not going to argue  with this. If we would have shove it down their throats and did normal clock control. WVU was stupid, we would have won.

How can you say that? We've lost games we should have won with the both of them playing QB and there's a reason they're both hurt and it's because of the dumb crap way our coaching staff both misuses our QBs and develops what they think is a game plan. My gut tells me that we'd have lost this game regardless of who the QB was. It's not them, it's the mindless idiots wearing the headsets and sitting in the booth above the field.

4 t.o's and 3 points

call BS pass that requires a finesse your QB is not showing today

and give up another huge and totally unf*cking believably long pass for a TD, w/ 0 secs left on the clock because (a) you have no pass rush and (b) when your non-existent pass rush finally tires the opponents O=line out, you can't tackle worth a s*it

sorry to say it but watching KSU football us just not fun anymore

I thought Delton looked better than Thompson.

I felt like today Delton outperformed Sky in pretty much every aspect except for MRI results

Sky is clutch and unconcussed. He is our guy.

All our QBs were at one point in their careers at KSU. Give it time. Our OC will change that.

would take rich rod i think

His record is a bit oscar-y, but he's a much more palatable personality IMHO.

If you know anyone in Michigan, talk to them. They think Rich Rod was their Ron Prince. Did nothing but piss off alumni, students and anyone else he came in physical contact with. We don't need another arrogant prick who's at best a mediocre coach.
Only one winning conference season (2014) since leaving WVU. The Pac 12 South has been down most of his tenure at UofA too.

ok you talked me out of it

#[you]picks

Sumlin's last game (as SEC Moses syndrom takes over) @ 1200 EST ESPN
Shannon's 1st game/loss @ 1200 EST ESPN2
MSU by a lot over the Patriot wannabes @ 1200 SECN (aka what LN wishes they were)
Vandy (aka a team we wish we could beat) @ 1200 ESPU (good luck with that crap)
Ga by a huge margin @ 1530 EST CBS
Hogs contributes to us making a bowl game irrelevant @ 1600 SECN
Those relevant Wildcats also taking a step towards making us irrelevant in the post season @ 1600 SECN

and the two actually watchable games:
UA rolls. Doesn't matter the time, field or station but LSU is still going to a significant bowl and we're not. So there's that.
The Golden Eagles put the nail in Butch's coffin and the Vol nation looks southward toward Fla and wonders if Layne is available/buyable!

Had to check on the origin of this thread. We were down 35-14 with 9:00 left in the third quarter. Tied 35-35 on their own 30 yard line with 19 seconds left, Iowa State fumbles. We recover and kick field goal. JFC.

even through the prince years this game was the most WTFy thing I ever remember watching with cats football.
It would be interesting to see one of those charts where the give the probability of each team winning at a given point during this game like they do for basketball. (do they do these for football)?

Traumatized so bad they had to move the starting QB to Middle LB and find a replacement. Yet they're still gonna kick our a** with a converted QB that will probably lead the team in tackles. Wouldn't the be the epitome of irony.

Quit picking on ISU (for at least this year). They're the closest we're going to get to watching us play in a quality bowl game.

Things have a tendency to look bigger when you're "small"!

Go ahead, anybody, anybody, anybody. Take a shot. I dare you!

we're on track to notch another win over our hated rival, stop and savor that for a minute, you negative nelsons.

Please explain what you've seen in the first half of this game that leads you to believe that we're on track for a win?

Kansas State Football / Re: KU Game Today

This is a #oscar game against a shitty non-con.  We'll eventually win relatively comfortably, the worst result imaginable.  No loss to inspire chaos, no close win for excitement, and no dominating win to feel good about.

Our offense scored a field goal in the first half! Where and how do you see us coming out in the next 30 minutes and "winning comfortably"? Hell at this point, I'm worried about winning at all.

I'll go ahead and correct myself. Our offense scored exactly 0 points during the 1st half. Special teams scored the 10.

and we're pretty much getting out of their way already.

Hey [you], let's talk about the game itt!

What's there to talk about? Two crappy teams playing in front of possible the smallest TV audience in the history of college football. Curling probably draws more.

We have a black QB and white WR for god's sake.

Hey, let's not be forgetting we actually have a gay guy too.

Maybe a rainbow alternative uni for this Sat. Seems only fitting considering who we're playing!
