Essentially Flyertalk / Re: Well hello there SAE

http://www.everydayshouldbesaturday.com/2015/3/9/8177703/oklahoma :dunno:

Maybe I'm missing something here since KSU doesn't have Greek seating blocks.  However, I don't understand the premise of the article.  If there is no longer SAE at OU, how can they take their seating block as a punishment?  The article makes it sound like this is something OU should consider.  If there is no SAE then there's no entity to give the seating block to anymore.  OU isn't going to save a block of seats for former members of a campus organization that doesn't exist anymore.  Of course SAE's block of seats isn't going to exist anymore, if it ever existed at all.

I read it as a suggestion that they should pull the individuals' tickets for a season, as further repercussions.

This changed very quickly to a pissing contest where one person doesnt care and the other losers forgot to unzip first. The need for self validating in here is unreal.

Shame. They couldn't even make it 159 years without a single racist incident with national coverage. so close, too.

thats the KSU chapter, they didnt sing a racist song. theyre about as associated as you and i are through goEMAW.

If I was a betting man... and I think I'm on record for being just that, I'd put pretty much my entire bankroll on the fact that the KSU chapter HAS in fact sung that song quite a few times.  The difference being, they didn't do it in mixed company and allow it to be recorded on a cell phone.

That is absolutely a song sung nationally, not in every single chapter but it wasn't invented at OU. The climate in which the fraternity was founded has its fingerprints all over this song. Did you guys miss the reddit from UT, the stars and bars hanging inside the front door of the OSU SAE house this morning, or my first hand account of the SAE house at K-State? BTW if any of you are SAEs build a rough ridin' sidewalk in front og your house already, Christ.

I mean, founded in Alabama in the 1850s.

I am pretty sure they have a sidewalk in front of their house at kstate, to their defense.

Sorry. Didn't mean to associate that specific chapter with it. The whole of SAE was founded today 159 years ago was the point, not ksu specifically

Goodness you guys are throwing such a fit.
software engineer vs software developer - those are job titles assigned by the company who really can within small limitations give you a huge range of titles that are the same work but vary from company to company . One summer i was a software engineer intern for a company, another summer i was a student programmer.
Software engineering vs computer science - those are degree programs set by the university and accredited by the appropriate people. I'm not saying CS majors are not worthy of the engineering tag, jesus I'm not a rough ridin' elitist. One of my cs friends got lectured by a company because he put down he was studying software engg, when really he was specializing in it. His employer got curious, called, and was told by the deans office there is no undergrad software engg major at ksu. I guesd this was an issue with their hiring policies. Anyway, he learned the difference then. there are universities who actually have a software Engineering degree program, so they are actually two (very slightly) different things in this context.
also great project. I think I have my chess code from freshman year somewhere.
I'm glad that we are pulling cis majors over into phase 4 with ece because ece needs to learn how to program.
and also, screw tcr. I'll agree with you he was very condescending to the non engineering majors (ATM, CNSM, CIS). No one in the dean's offices and not many of the big wig donors liked him. Even to non consulting interested engineers, he was an ass.

:frown:

also, greg are you CIS, do i have classes with you  :horrorsurprise:
No but thats what i wanna do when i go to kstate.

eff cis. put on a belt and go ECE  :emawkid:

Nothing worse than dealing with those ECE grads who take a software engineering job and can't code for crap :users:

sure. there are a few that say i like programming but only want to take 4 courses from CIS and do comp engg, then go somwhere for high level programming and flounder. but really, theres nothing worse than CIS grads who market themselves as software engineering grads from kstate. sorry, we dont have (undergrad) software engineering. its a specialty.
Just curious, what core concepts do you think are lacking from any of the 3 undergraduate degrees offered by the CIS department to qualify a graduate from one of the three in calling themselves a software engineer?

entirely different accredidation processes. Both accredited by abet, but comp sci by CAC and software engg by eac. The term "engineer" brings certain expectations of courses and applications, and is a big word in this context.

also from their national org,

Quote
"We apologize for the unacceptable and racist behavior of the individuals in the video, and we are disgusted that any member would act in such a way. Furthermore, we are embarrassed by this video and offer our empathy not only to anyone outside the organization who is offended but also to our brothers who come from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities."

what time tomorrow do you wanna meet at the Ernie Barrett statue?

too busy flying out for an interview :gocho:

i have no problem with cis, really. i was a TA for 3 years in an intro course where we had like 80 of them. and like 79 of them would sit there and complain that it wasn't programming.

Thought that second yellow on Besler was pretty weak.

90% of the time Dom buries at least one of his chances and SKC wins.

statistically speaking then the next nine games should be great. so many opportunities.

Guys, I was always the guy defending Billy, but I was so mad right at this moment. It was like, every Billy hater was validated in the moment he could've been a hero.
