isn't it weird that there is a blue bell and a blue bunny.

Don't even get me started. Blue Bunny is #1 on my list of things I hate about Iowa and Iowans. They think that crap is sooooo good. It's basic, just like Iowans.

It has this weird aftertaste to it, which also possibly could be just like Iowans.  I don't have the personal experience to validate that theory.  Tastes like they use chalk instead of cream.

We're not bullet proof. Herrera is now going to miss 7 games. That is significant. We're lucky we built ourselves a little margin for error

Just put Madson in Herrera's role for a week.  It's not like we have to give Aaron Crow or Tim Collins extra responsibility.  We've got depth galore in the bullpen this year.  Hope they use this as a way to reset the rotation now.  I want Volquez to move up to the 2 spot and I wouldn't pull a temper tantrum if they put him in the 1 spot.

mocat their crap fans ran onto the field and attacked our 1st base coach in 2002. I hate them.

After watching every hot hitter in our lineup bunt with men on base and no outs last weekend I keep hoping some fans from the opposing team will run into our dugout and attack Yost.

SE KS, SW MO, and NE OK are the most depressing areas ever. no question, no doubt.  I once visited a friend at Pitt State, did not do again.

Pine Ridge, South Dakota (Pine Ridge Indian Reservation)

Everything looks, sounds, smells, (and I would imagine though I did not gather data on these two senses) tastes, and feels like poverty and alcoholism.

Back to Kansas, there have been a lot of references to old and declining mining towns and old and declining oil and gas towns.  However the old and declining railroad towns (like Herington) are getting neglected here.

As far as interstate signs go my vote goes to the ones on I-70 wanting you to be sure to stop and visit Liberal while you are on your way to either northern Colorado or central Missouri.

Wow, I had never stepped foot in this thread. Just read the whole thing.  :sdeek:
Very very depressing thread. I am not from KS and have zero family members in KS and I feel like there should be like some sort of password required to read this thread that only people from KS or people who have family members in KS can get into it and read it.

Also, yes, jmlynch, La Cygne is the one near the pond.

Which state are you from?

Oh the same rules should apply to a Missouri thread of similar nature. I don't really have any small-town relatives either though, so that could be part of the  :sdeek:

I bet a worst town in Missouri thread would be much more depressing than the Kansas thread. The worst towns in Kansas can attribute most of their problems from spillover from SW Missouri and NE Oklahoma, after all. It's just too bad we don't have more mocats to really get one going.

Knob Lock-any town whose name is easily confused with Knob Lick can't have much going for it.

No way you can put Hutchinson on this list.  Any town that has the Cosmosphere is automatically disqualified from being the 2nd worst anything.  There is also a problem with putting Coffeyville on the list.  There is a Perry Maxwell designed golf course in Coffeyville.  And with all the SE Kansas towns being listed how has Humboldt been left out?  Iola is down right cosmopolitan compared to Humboldt.

Grateful Dead's version of Cold Rain and Snow.

Harris can absolutely stroke 3's. As long as we don't ask him to do much more than that I think he will fit in nicely.

Heslip esque?

In a goofy looking MFer way or in a he is going to be on the team for eight years way?

It's 2004

Branden Archer would look like Gary Spani compared to the linebackers this year.

On the Shields trade, this trade will probably go down as one of the worst in Royals history.

Nowhere near top 5 and probably not top 10 considering...

David Cone for Ed Hearn
Johnny Damon for Angel Berroa and scrubs
Kevin Appier for scrubs
Carlos Beltran for John Buck and Mark Teahan
Lou Piniella for Lindy McDaniel
whoever the hell the Royals traded to get Neffi Perez
Melky Cabrera for Jonathan Sanchez
J.P. Howell for Joey Gathright
Octavio Dotal for Kyle Davies and other assorted scrubs

Only read the last four pages, don't know how much of this is old news on this thread.

Mexican

Casa Ramos-the Pork something or another (begins with U, you won't confuse it with anything else on the menu) or Zarapes

Panchos-Think Burrito King with a drive thru and more variety.  Carnitas burritos and tortas very good, if you can eat more than one you have a tapeworm problem.  If you get a torta make sure to get a fork and keep the plate or styrofoam box directly over your lap.  Half of your torta is going to end up in your lap if you don't.  Don't worry if it does there will still be plenty left on the bread.

Italian- Paisanos as much by default as anything else though it is a lot better than it was seven or eight years ago.  Still miss Grazies though.  Not quite full Italian but Manny's over where Shakes used to be has solid Phillys and veal or chicken Parmesan sandwiches and the best onion rings in town.

Pizza-LaRocca's, Glory Days, or Via's (deep stuffed version) College Hill is okay if you get the chunky marinara instead of the regular sauce.

Chinese-Hunams

Cajun-new place just opened where Grazies and Boscos used to be.  Called Red Snappa or something like that.  Po Boys are cajun equivalent of Pancho's tortas. Ability to unhinge jaw could be useful.  Also serve ribs that look good but I have not tried.

Gizzards-Topeka Steak House, tenderest, most perfectly cooked gizzards I've ever had and you get a full bowel movement full of them for about seven dollars.

Steaks-go to Puffy's in Maple Hill.

BBQ-Boss Hawgs burnt ends

I just saw someone instagram a text conversation with their mother in which they said "Who cares, he sucks anyway" to which the mom replied "hopefully he transfers back to mexico state"

I hate our rough ridin' fans so goddamn much.

Can't agree more, makes us look so ignorant.  How do you not know that Mexico State should be capitalized.

I'd be willing to trade Weber to Oregon for Altman and Oregon's cheerleaders.

LOL at thinking there's any worse shot than the one that JHR took. Oh wait, I guess the one Angel took after oscar again didn't call a timeout was worse.

There really isn't a better shot than having the guy who has scored most of your points getting a shot 4 feet from the basket.

Accept that was four feet outside of his range the entire game.

I'm kind of disappointed they do not have a solid blue background on their message board.

Hey dumbass Gonzaga has two first round draft picks at the 4 and the 5 and another coming off of their bench at the 5. You are talking in circles, we won't think less of you if you call it a day with this talking point.

Texas had three first round picks two years ago and didn't do squat in the tournament.

In the past neutral fans would get behind Gonzaga if they smelled an upset brewing now the fans will get behind Gonzaga's opponents if they smell an upset brewing. Gonzaga is used to being the Cinderella trying to knock off the giants.  This year they will be one of the giants that the Cinderellas are trying to knock off.   A lot of teams don't handle that adjustment very well-for further details see K-State football.

LaSalle, don't want to be the first team in NCAA history to lose a game in the NCAA tournament to a school in France.

20
look at the CBS experts brackets, you won't.

Also on CBS Sports.com professional college basketball douchenozzle Jeff Borzello ranks us 27 out of the 68 teams in the tournament.  Has us behind San Diego State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Colorado State, Arizona, Oklahoma State, UCLA, and Creighton.

Am I asking too much by wanting as many ugly, red-headed, freckled, 6' 8" three point shooting Badgers as possible to elbow him in the mouth so they will be suspended for the next game after winning 32-30 in double overtime against Ole Miss?

K-State will most likely beat KU next year in AFH West.  KU loses its entire starting five (Withey, Young, Releford, McLemore, Johnson) and will be really young next season.

We lose McGruder. #teamangel is awesome of course, but he needs someone to pass to who can actually, you know, score.
the big 12  office/tv  will  have a  hand  in  next  year's  game,  it would  be  great to  get them in MHK in January

Won't happen.  You alternate home-away/first-second games every year.  We played them in Manhattan first this year.  We will play  them in Lawrence first next year.  They won't make a schedule where we are playing them twice in two weeks so the Manhattan game will be sometime in February.

Horton. Words cannot describe that god awful place. It wins, if you haven't been there, give thanks to whomever or whatever you believe in that you have been able to live your life to this point without having to go to Horton. Go party it up in Galena, or Hiawatha, or Liberal, or Oakley. Ask Santa for a customer made t-shirt that says, "At least I am not in Horton."

Is that the town that is on the way from MHK to 'chita that is right by the round-a-bout that has a water tower that looks like a big cigarette??

If so, yeah, pretty shitty town.

Pretty sure that is Florence you are describing.

I would think Peabody would have been mentioned by now.  Any town whose nickname is Urineville should get a first round bye in this tournament.

Ness City should also get a mention.  The town's claim to fame is having one of their residents get stuck to her toilet seat for two years.

Other nominations
Carbondale
Quenemo
Jetmore (desolation capital of Kansas-drive on K-156 from Larned to Garden City is absolutely the worst drive in the state)
any town on US-56 west of Dodge City

DNR entire thread but I'm sure Emporia got some good play

It has two Braums which automatically disqualifies it.  Besides the glory days of the entire town smelling like burning cow hide due to IBP are long gone.
