This is really a terrible point because there are two competing views on whether a TO should be called at the end of the game like that. Neither is superior. oscar let them play and then tried to call a TO when they weren't getting a shot on their own. The refs just didn't give it to him. So, you really can't fault him for not calling a TO because he tried, but you also can't fault him for calling a TO instead of letting them play because he did that, too.
I agree
Yeah, of all the oscar hating talking points, the non-use of TOs was really low on my list. But this is a popular one, for oscar haters/supporters alike.
I'm not defending oscar because ultimately losses fall on the coach.
Its clear he either didn't have them ready to play OR the gameplan to defend La Salle was faulty.
His use of JO/Gip was odd and it was clear Gip couldn't guard La Salle's big. (granted, they couldn't guard him either and JO missed his fair share of bunnies in the first half).
Taking Angel out after foul 4 was unnecessary that late in the game. You leave in your best playmaking guard until he fouls out at that point.
I'm also willing to concede that there were other contributing factors that oscar had little control over (best two play makers struggling and in general missing a lot of open shots (Tay and Will), FT shooting)
