My greatest hope is that he gets into the White House and doesn't actually try to do anything. But I'm guessing that's not going to happen.

You can tell it's hard for these anchors to hold back from lashing out on all the :Carl: voters rough ridin' up the election.
A Trump win would be increds for media corps tho.

hard to emigrate without immigrating.

@DanWolken: The Detroit Free Press called Michigan for Clinton early. Nobody else has gone out on that limb. Could decide the whole thing.

Like saying there's a "path to victory" as if there is something that can still be done strategically.
"well if we don't get Colorado we'll definitely need to pick up new Hampshire" even though the polls are closed everywhere.

Snl should be pretty great the next 4 years. Trump is absolutely insane.
-
This result is genuinely making me sad.
However, because of the color of my skin, gender, education level, and career choice, I stand to gain from this financially. Not worth it tho.
I am feeling a little low right now. I'll rally, but this is disheartening for me personally.
-
Guys this bubble is a'poppin just needed the needle point. Buying coming in a few months. For all that is holy do not buy tomorrow or soon. Wait.

I didn't think I'd see idiocracy in my life time
-
I'm really sad. See you bros later. I feel like I have to defend people who claim to follow Jesus who voted for this man for President, but I don't know how. Please know the real Jesus preached forgiveness, peace, and was a champion of the marginalized. Read Matthew 5 for an example of that. The beatitudes had the message that his kingdom was for those on the edges. Sometimes people make mistakes, massive ones that will probably wreck the economy and start a couple wars. Sorry for all the times I've ever PI'd anyone on here. I feel guilt for times when I am not kind to people. I'll be back in my corner of the Royals thread until 2020.
At least Frank White is gonna win.
And if we don't extend Duffy I will go into a legit booze fueled depression.
CF3 out

The nice thing is that a woman who was funded by the biggest misogynists on the planet, and received millions from people who advocate the torture and killing of LBGT PEOPLE and who was immensely engaged in creating the worst humanitarian crisis since WWII, on top of being a huge war monger and wholly owned by big banks may not get the prize she coveted.

Of course. Even if it actually is him, he's not going to want to do all the crap a president would have to do and live in that house vs. his regular lifestyle. He'll have won his $1 trading places-ish bet w/somebody and that'll be that.

Hillary has a much better chance than 5%
Uh, that's from the New York Times, who has been very unfair to Trump. They've said some tremendously nasty things about him.
-
Who's having the best twitter meltdown? I'm thinking Shaun King
pretty big meltdown for a white guy
-
Stupid dickhead Debbie and the shitbird DNC got what they deserved. Not happy Rudy Giuliani will be the chef lawmaker in this country and Newt will be the Secretary of State, lol, but hopefully the democrats will get their crap together.

I'm not convinced Bernie would have won. I'm not sure how the socialist stuff would have played front and center in a general election.
But, Donald Trump is going to be President, so who the hell knows.

I would have voted for Bernie over Johnson. Submarining him was a bad choice.

Dow Jones Futures -796
I mean, it will come back, but a part of me thinks a ton of Trump voters cheer that because they don't have anything invested in the market, and a significant amount of their anger is focused at Wall Street.
This is a fantastic buying opportunity. Don't be stupid by passing it up.

Guys, my wife is trying to convince me to move to Denmark. I'm not sure how I'm going to get through the next four years.

Of course. I'm going to buy like mad.

I told my wife Elizabeth Warren may run in four years (no idea if that's true).
She's happy now. Denmark is off the table.

Guys, my wife is trying to convince me to move to Denmark. I'm not sure how I'm going to get through the next four years.
according to 2016 figures from Statistics Denmark, approximately 87.7% of the population was of Danish descent, defined as having at least one parent who was born in Denmark and has Danish citizenship
should probably go somewhere browner

Sorry, but that's who he picked

Yes, I think Bernie would have won. It's not like people love Trump - they loathed Clinton.
-
This result is genuinely making me sad.
However, because of the color of my skin, gender, education level, and career choice, I stand to gain from this financially. Not worth it tho.
I am feeling a little low right now. I'll rally, but this is disheartening for me personally.
This is how I felt in May.

Pete I have 2 daughters. I know you're a dad of a girl also. I am terribly sad they are growing up in a world where Donald Trump is going to be president of the USA
I have a 7 year old who has been absolutely entranced by this election since we took her to the caucuses in February. I had to beg her to go to bed at 9 PM. I'm going to break her heart in the morning. She'll be fine, we'll all be fine. We survived 8 years of Regan, we'll be fine with 4 years of Donald.
-
Where will the new Hollywood be now that all the actors will make good on their promises to leave the country? I'm thinking Paris. The taxes will suck tho.
-
I think Donald Trump has daughters, too. I think your daughters will be fine. They can probably even serve safely as interns in a Trump WH.
-
My wife is not taking this well. Not well at all.
Nor is mine. Uppity ass college educated white women, amirite?
-
David Axelrod is right, and I was talking with a friend about this earlier.
We're talking race, class, elitism, etc. All of these things are a part of the equation.
But this isn't unique to us. This is happening all over Europe. This is a backlash against globalization. This is a backlash against technology replacing workers.
I'm not sure how you put the lid back on that pot. What happens in four years when there's no wall, there's still Obamacare, and those manufacturing jobs haven't come back? Who will you turn to then?
-

Of course he would have won, he beat her ass in all of these traditional blue areas that she lost. The D's didn't need to pick anything up, just hold serve. The democrats got their Washington elite insider that they wanted and she got murked by an insurgent.
-
My wife is not taking this well. Not well at all.

I tried to tell her that we're going to actually come out of this in a better place, financially. Yeah, the socially liberal part of us is going to take a hit, but I spent eight years hating the world under W., so that's not unique. We're not going to spend 30+ years in some liberal utopia.
I'm kind of flabbergasted that a stay-at-home mom in Overland Park thinks this is the end of the world for us.

Obamacare isn't mumped - Obamacare has mumped us. Now Trump and the GOP get to try to fix it. Good luck with that. What a mess.

Black people aren't a monolith. I'm sure some black people will prosper, I have plenty of money now though so I don't need trump. Hopefully Trump and his people can now meet some black people that have money who aren't celebrities so he can stop thinking we all live in the hood.

Agreed. At this point climate change is a global initiative, a trump administration won't be able to do 1/4 the damage to the climate that China does.
-
guys, this is a gonna be a landslide for trump.
-
As if for years Rs and Ds alike haven't promised to turn things around for so many people.
My comment was agnostic of party and candidate. Globalization and technology have their own momentum independent of whatever it is we choose to do at this point.
Those jobs aren't coming back if you enact tariffs and re-structure trade deals. The problem is automation. The problem is FTE elimination targets.

If they do I want my posts from the primary season talking about how large mouth Debbie and the DNC screwed democrats because Hillary primarily won all of these red states that she had no chance of winning in the general.
-
The comparison between the Hillary and Trump physical election night venues is hilarious. Trump's is basically a row of American flags lines up in a generic ballroom. Clinton completely built out her space with high tech scaffolding, lighting, America-shaped stage, etc. She was really ready for this win.
-
I'm hearing Podesta is saying they won't concede tonight.
-
The Hillary campaign chair just told all the people at the Clinton rally Santa Claus is still real when their classmates spilled the beans awhile ago.
-
All he said was "come back later." Dunno why Hillary couldn't say that.
-
I loathe Debbie and the DNC but I legitimately feel awful for Hillary personally. She literally has been building up to this her entire life and to get so close has to be agonizing. I hope she goes quietly into seclusion and spends the rest of her life enjoying her daughter and granddaughter.
-
If nothing else, it's probably good not to give a speech on that damn victory stage.
-
Hillary losing is the silver lining in all of this.

I should go to bed. Which channel is the arguing the most entertaining.

Lewandowski is never not an bad person.
The low light of the night but the absolutely perfect symbol for this election happened about 90 minutes ago. One of the CNN's anchors congratulated Lewandowski on the trump victory ave without the slightest bit of hesitation and irony he said thank you and took his victory lap. CNN is so gross and I hope their political coverage takes the severe beating it deserves, they have some pretty dope original programming though.
-

CNN has gone to their panel of 8 with four partisans, so you should go with them.
Also you dudes need to get Directv, they have a channel with all of the major networks on one screen and you can just change the audio whenever you want.

This is the woman who set up a private server in her basement and later a bathroom closet to handle all manner of classified information, just to illegally dodge FOIA requests. This is the person who set up the Clinton Foundation as a SuperPAC to accept illegal pay-to-play contributions from foreign entities in exchange for State Department access. This is the woman who conspired to lie, cheat, and steal this nomination from Bernie Sanders. This is the woman who started the Kenya narrative against Obama in 2008. This is the woman who stood on the tarmac and told the family members of Benghazi victims that it was due to a YouTube video, while privately telling her daughter it was terrorism. This is the woman who took the hatchet to Bill's numerous sexual assault victims while claiming to be a champion for women's rights.
The Clintons are horrible, corrupt people and absolutely deserve to be flushed away as quickly as possible. It IS the silver lining of a Trump win. Do not feel bad for her. Rejoice.

Pretty much all of that is bullshit though, just political bull shitty talk. She is by most accounts a decent woman who has done a lot for people in her 45 years of public life. She got herself caught in the Washington political machine and if she's guilty of something, no one is perfect after all, its that she allowed her political aspirations define who she was.
-
Chris Matthews v. Rachel Maddow has had some good back/forth with a Carville kicker.
Matthews has been very entertaining. Maddows has also done a very good job tip toeing that line between covering an election and giving her well known view point.
Brian Williams in the other hand. :flush: You can really tell he's been out of the spotlight for awhile and he's pressing to make a splash.

I don't think any of that matters at all. If you want to talk about what's the biggest indictment of the collective character of this country I'd rather point to the millions of people who voted for the first presidential candidate in the history of the country who has literally moved manufacturing jobs overseas. He was elected on the thought that he would bring manufacturing jobs back. People are wearing MAGA hats made in China

I think we've made some really great social progress lately. I think this outcome says that a lot of people want to put the brakes on that. And we may even take a step back because of it.
It makes me sad.

Hey we've sold out all of our so called ideals to support a candidate who got rich by being corrupt, a party that rigged outcomes, a candidate beholden to big banks and racist foreign interests, and a party that labels and classifies American's like cattle and tosses around "racist, homophobe, sexist" on anyone who simply disagrees . . . And now we're gonna cry like little babies because we lost.

Feel free to clarify if I have misunderstood. I'd like to understand what people are so afraid of, and if their fears are real or perceived.
As a white male, I'm not scared, but I think many people are shocked that so much of the population is ok with a bigoted, misogynistic bully as President.

This. I also feel really bad for my gay and lesbian friends. All the reform that has happened will probably roll back.

Given that it didn't happen for the seven years prior to Trump's campaign, it must have been caused by Obama's response to Trump's campaign.

I don't think he'll touch any progress that's been made for the LGBT. I just think they'll stand neutral from where they're at, which has came a long ways. Gay marriage, separate bathrooms, etc.

Panjs wife is proof why a woman can't be president. (I keed I keed)
C43 was much more emotional about this
i'm not in some fear that the country or the west will end, more emotional about what this says about the character of us as a people. i think its ok to be emotional.
This is true but the government made it more lucrative to do so. I think, or I hope Trump's plan is to change some of those policies so that it is no longer as lucrative to move manufacturing to other countries or make it more of an even playing field here in the U.S. when it comes to manufacturing. I don't know how or if he has any plans in place for sure but in my optimistic heart this is what I'm hoping for.

Do Trump. Then after that do Hillary (her private positions, not her public)
-
Public action is all that matters with politicians. I could not care less if Hillary secretly hates gays. I suspect a majority of pub politicians don't hate gays privately, but they sure hate them in legislation.

I'm totally aware of Pence's position on the matter. I still think nothing will be done. They'd be rough ridin' dumbasses to do so. Everyone just stay in their lane.

LOL thats completely backwards. I can't believe you enjoy being trick mumped.
I also cant believe you fucktards are genuinely concerned about these so-called social accomplishments being rolled back. GMAFB
This country is seriously broken at the federal level, our economy is a hoopty with flat tires, our foreign policy is a disaster, median wages are stagnant if not in decline, the sitting president doesn't enforce laws he doesn't agree with, we don't have a clue who lives here or how they got here, the deficit grew $13T, medicare obamacare and social security are on the road to insolvency, everbody hates each other, and you genuinely believe trump is going to start off by interning muslims, stoning gays, and taking the shoes off women.
Grow up and get a clue.

this is just so crazy, no matter how unlikeable or shady Clinton is
Clinton won only 65 percent of Latino voters, compared to Obama’s 71 percent four years ago. She performed this poorly against a candidate who ran on a program of building a wall along America’s southern border, a candidate who kicked off his campaign by calling Mexicans rapists.
Clinton won 34 percent of white women without college degrees. And she won just 54 percent of women overall, compared to Obama’s 55 percent in 2012. Clinton, of course, was running against a candidate who has gloated on film about grabbing women “by the pussy.”

I was very surprised how strongly one side of my family was in support of Trump, despite their heritage. It was in California so it didn't matter anyway, but still surprising. Yep. I'm interested to know how he thinks Donald Trump or any other president will stop illegal immigration. Mexicans started emigrating here in 1850.

OH YEAH, MY BAD

I saw a few things that made it sound like Trump may increase immigration. He won't be able to enact anything to slow inflow/deport. However, the policies he could enact may hurt their economy enough to increase the incentive to come here.

-Obama was 14 points better in rural Pennsylvania than Hillary did, 12 points in rural Wisconsin. That makes it pretty tough to just chalk it up to racists.
-The Democratic turnout in the metro area of Pennsylvania was higher than 2012
-Mitt Romney will end up with more popular votes than Trump did.
The bottom line is this was not an affirmation of Donald Trump but a repudiation of Hillary Clinton.

While Trump certainly won racists, they aren't enough to give him the election.
Agreed on Hillary. The Dem's tried to run an uninspiring, flawed candidate through a largely uncontested primary and got beat for it.

Trying to actually fix the problem seems like a logical first step. :dunno:
I view the problem as unnecessary regulation burdening businesses by not letting them hire the only qualified workers they are able to find.
-
My take on the election is, middle class hard working people are tired of career politicians who say they are going to work for the people but just take their party agenda and shove it down our throats and don't really care what the people want. He is a business man, he did market research and found out what the consumer was looking for and gave it to them and they ate it up. Trump listened to them and threw it out there and said this is what I'm basing my campaign on.
Most of the people who voted Trump don't really think the is wonderful, most just think at least he isn't a puppet for the party and will do things that need to be done and doesn't care what the politicians think. They feel he is going to work for the people.
I don't know if I believe that or don't I have the wait and see approach to this presidency.
Do I believe he will build a wall? No I don't even believe he believes he will build a wall. He said it because that is what his market research said the people wanted.

This is the correct answer. It was who the country hated less....they had to choose.

I only went two pages in and that primarily is discussing Obama wanting to enact amnesty. But I'm not sure how you or anyone else can accuse him of not enforcing the law when his administration has deported more than any other administration. Those both can't be true and mine is an indisputable fact, so where did that leave us?
Better yet and to my question, what does Barack Obama or anyone else deporting tens millions of people have to do with them continuing to come into the country? A wall won't do it either. Perhaps a mile wide fiery moat filled with gators across the entire border?

Just tax all currency wired to Mexico. It's pretty mumped up and I'm not advocating for it, but it could be an option that, through discussion, could lead us to better more realistic options.

I can report that in the insular and ideologically-harmonious world of higher education, today is a national day of mourning. The mood at the law school today was what I can only imagine the nation's mood was when JFK was assassinated. My professor today stopped talking with 20 minutes left to go, said "Well, I'm going home to drink," and walked out of the room. Very interesting to observe the confusing and world-view-subverting effect on a group of people who live their lives in a neat little bubble, out of touch with the thoughts and feelings of common folk.

You need to read further down into the timeline.
As for deportations, they changed the definition of deportation to include simple repatriation of those caught just this side of the border, like turned around and sent back to mexico. Those were not counted as deportations in previous administrations from what I understand.
