Narrative is mostly true. I really want to change this rather large Elephant sitting over there in the corner.

I am inKleined to believe you.

outside of maybe Alabama sometimes which team consistently wins their must wins? that elephant you're looking at is just college football.

True too. In this case though, I can't remember KSU winning any of them though. There's been smaller 'must wins' , but these next few games are the epitome of must win games. So rough ridin' tired of MY teams getting close. I need a championship for one of MY teams. I deserve this.

Deserve has nothing to do with it, simpleton.

Imho, it's too early to be talking about the Baylor game.
Let's not overlook TCU.
-
You guys remember that must win against Texas to clinch the big 12 title? That was awesome

Too much pantera has you blinded. Wade through my words and get to the point. The Elephant.

11-0 Klein @ Baylor is conveniently forgotten here. Phil Bennet junk defense schooled us.

False. A freak injury to Zimmerman the week prior, coupled with TLBL spraining an ankle in the same prior game, was our downfall. Missing the "defensive QB" who happened to be an All-Big12 safety and your best receiver had FAR more to do with the outcome of that game than Phil Bennett's defense did.
:buh-bye:
-
Lockett was our second best receiver but agree it hurt

Fair point. I always saw TLBL and Harper as sort of a 1a/1b situation, but you'll get no argument here if you saw Harp as clear cut #1.
-
Ugh, hate these threads. Look, we choked plain and simple in 98. crap happens. We got bit by the injury bug in 2012 and lost a game to a good team on the road. That wasn't a choke.
All told, the Cats have significantly overperformed under Snyder's tenure. If you're whining that we don't consistently pull upsets in important games - nobody does. We have a very good, not great, team this year. For this team to run the table in the B12 with 5 road games, 4 of them ranked, 3 of them highly ranked, would be improbable to say the least. This is not the year to whine about "deserving" a championship. Enjoy the ride.

That Baylor game wasn't viewed as a big game, they had a crap season and no one though they would beat us. We played 5 games that year that we're viewed as "big games" before they were played and the only loss was Oregon.
-
Whenever I think about that elephant in the corner I think of a score of 35-7 against the greatest college football team ever assembled! Since we know KSU can win a football game when they are the overwhelming Underdog, this weeks +5 line does not seem so over whelming.

Steve Dave already addressed it. I want to address the fact that you think you deserve something.

Or at Nebraska two weeks prior to that, or against MU to put us in the BigXII title game.
We've won our fair share of must win games.
-
You have to win a crap load of must win games to even have the type of must win games being discussed. I guess in short every college football game is must win, and it doesn't suck to win enough to have games that are important like this week's.

This thread should just be "I really want K-State to win a national title", because that's what you mean. Snyder has won a ton (A TON) of big games for the KSU Cats over his career. He just hasn't ever won enough in one season to get to the NC game. Now we'll see if we can win enough this year to get into the 4 team Tornament.
-
We're probably the only team in America to have lost to good teams in big games.

This. It's like saying Bob Stoops has only won one "must" win.

It's kind of like when announcers say "that was a touchdown-saving tackle". Yeah, every tackle is a touchdown saving tackle.

Except the ones where the guy is super close to the endzone and gets tackled as he scores a touchdown, but other than that you are correct.

Also if a PAT gets blocked and the blocking team picks it up and tries to run it back but is then tackled it's not touchdown saving because only 2 points. :blah:

Lefty is the guy who believes that Chris was our fourth best receiver. It's a shame that anyone takes him seriously.

For the record I wrote that before start of Harp's Senior year. I've also eaten crow sense and admitted the hilarity in that post.

Thanks for that reminder bubbles4ksu, what an idiot

I personally think winning a NC would be depressing, what else would there be to root for after that? I would probably stop being an Cat fan because our bandwagon would be so big and it wouldnt be fun.

Thats fair, for the record I was showing how stupid this thread was. Like we all dont want to win a Natty? That goes without saying.

Winning a NC would be kind of like winning an Oscar. What has Whoopi Goldberg or Cuba Gooding Jr. done since they won an Oscar but still they are listed in the promos today as "Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg or Oscar winner Cuba Gooding, Jr." no matter what dumpster fire movie they are appearing in. So twenty-five years from now it would be "former National Champion Kansas State University" no matter what the record has been in those 25 years

This is pretty much the only benefit to winning a natty, IMO.

Whoopie is a goddamn national treasure, you keep her name out of your goddamn mouth.

Elephant still just sitting over there. TCU loss was somewhat similar to other big games we've pissed down our legs before. Perhaps it's the fact Waters' shoulder is ruined. Perhaps it's that we have too many 5 hearts. Perhaps it's that Snyder demands and expects too much out of our players.
An overly complicated system is sometimes overly complicated.
-
i don't understand why we can't win every game like everyone else does, it's infuriating
-
if you want to get to the CFP, every game is a must win, so pretty much we're 7-2 in must win games this year, not bad.
-
I have champagne that needs drinking/spraying
Have you drank your champagne yet?
It might go bad if you're waiting for a natty.

Just curious why you scratched off the Nubs and Baylor?
1997- we played Nubs 4th game of year. Only game we lost all year. Coming off multiple years of coming close to beating them.
1999- We were 9-0 and #5 in the nation. Only thing standing between us and a Natty. They throttled us.
2000- Played OU and were #2 in nation. Holy crap #2. Lost to them again later in year.
2002- blew a few
2012- Baylor. We were #1 for gosh darned sakes. Ran into a buzzsaw, but still.
2014- TCU- ill prepared. Linebackers sitting out. Walk on safety bless his heart. We blew it.
-
nicname if you continue to address this rump swab, I will punch you in the head. Don't try to rationalize with sloth from the goonies.

Because Nebraska was clearly better than K-State in 1997 and especially 1999. Baylor wasn't a big game, and wasn't looked at like a big game until KSU lost.

Is WV a "must win"? We need to get these classified prior to the game so we can do some real data tracking here...actually let's go back to 89 and classify them all.

I don't think you understand what a must win is. Unless your goal every single year is a national title and anything less disgusts you.
-
But now I'm reading the thread and that's basically what everyone else already said.
