Title: The Gems From the Last 35 Pages Or So of the ISU Game Thread!
Post by: DQ12 on September 06, 2014, 04:16:28 PM
Hey Guys!  I went over to the Cyclone Fanatic Message board and looked over the last 35 pages of the Iowa State game thread so you don't have to!

We're picking things up just after that horribly long K-State drive that led to no points. Let's get down to business.

Quote
SOME STUFFING FOR YOUR TURKEY DAY DINNER A BIT EARLY

Quote
Time to put this game away. Too close for a game against K-State.

You poor bastard.

Quote
How ironic would winning this with a 2nd 1/2 shut out be?!

Super ironic?  :dunno:

RANDALL EVANS INT.  Their defeatist attitude is just so, so sweet.

Quote
HOLY **** THESE OFFICIALS ARE FULL OF ****.
Quote
BEND US OVER REFS.
Quote
His knees appeared to be down.
But we are Iowa State so the call on the field will stand
Quote
Under review which means an ISU screw job. I don't know the last replay they showed looked like his knee was down first
Quote
That is Cyclone football right there.
Quote
We'll, never get the calls in this conference.

That's my favorite one so far.  Iowa state fellas says "we'll never get the call in this conference." just perfect.

Quote
Whatever happens now. Offense needs to score on ghe next possession
Quote
THese ******* announcers just need to get on with it and have Waters kid
Quote
Thanks Big 12.

I think this was the conversion attempt after the TD to bring us within 2

Quote
thats right, eat some Cotton waters.

Announcers being crying tears, their baby be down!
Quote
Hell of a hit there! Win, lose or draw I'm proud of those kids today
Quote
Does Snyder go for the onside and dagger here, or does he trust his defense to stop us?
He trusts your offense to just not.

Quote
they may need to take Mr Waters helmet away.. That would not bother me, hate to see a kid get hurt, but we really need this win.
Iowa State class.  SORRY ABOUT YOUR CONCUSSION, FELLOW IOWAN, BUT WE REALLY NEED THIS W FOR OUR SEASON THAT WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY BE 2-3 WINS AND GET OUR COACH FIRED ANYHOW.

Then we kicked it off to them

Quote
Interesting all the passing with the tiny lead.
Yeah!
Quote
Richardson does not run the option very well. :/
No he didn't.  Huge play by our D.

Quote
Chewing up clock, that part is going well so far.
You poor, poor bastard.

Quote
Man out of all programs I hate kst. Lets finish this
Quote
This is not good. Setting up to be another heartbreaker for us.
This guy.  This guy this guy this guy.  He gets it.

Quote
Dang it.. Our bend don't break D might give up a field goal here.
Quote
Let's see if the D can bring us home. A stop here and it is ours... Do or die time guys! Step up!
Man that hits home for me.  I say that a lot.  "I think if we can stop them here we'll win."  Thing is.  They did stop us on this drive. This guy's calculations were just off.  He needs to take his predicto machine back to the shop for more oil.

Quote
Big, big series for the offense here.
Quote
GET THAT 1 YARD! TAKE IT!
Quote
Gut check time, get this first down men. Go and take it, right now, take it.
ehhhh???
Quote
Play action Mangino. Do it.
ehhhhhhhhh???
Quote
spread them out, do not just try to smash mouth this 1 yard
EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?!

Ready?

Quote
I have seen this movie before.
Quote
Awful.
Quote
what a load of crap
Quote
Iowa State football: 3rd and 1 turns into 4th and 4.
 so true

Quote
I don't like these close K-State games at all.

Quote
We just missed a huge opportunity. Let's see if the D has another stop in them...
Quote
I am getting the vaseline
Ha

Quote
It does take a special QB to run Snyders offense. A JUCO QB.

Water
Michael Bishop
Elle Roberson

This one was randomly thrown in.  Ell wasn't a juco kid.  :dunno:

After Lockett's catch
Quote
He's in bounce.
Quote
Good job replay official. wtf.
Quote
Another Snyder classic coming to a cornhole near you.
Quote
I've seen this movie before against KSU.
Quote
We have seen this 5 out of 6 years against Synder.
Let them score.
Quote
Tired of getting burned by KSU's poor man version of Tim Tebow. Klein and now this mother****er.
yessssssssssssssss
Quote
Game over. We're ISU.
YES!  YOU ARE!  DON'T EVER FORGET THAT!

Quote
Well, there it is. We'll have 1:30 to win it. Offense has to hold up their end of the deal, one of these years.

One of these stinkin' years, boys.

Quote
Still trying to figure out what's worse about being a cyclone fan. The Blowouts or losing like this. Either way, I've certainly had my fill of both.

Quote
This loss is all on Mangino IMO.
Certainly not on Rhoads for putting together that just absolutely top-to-bottom dogshit excuse for a Power Five conference team.

Quote
Just got back from the grocery store, what the F***?!?
Quote
This drive is so huge for ISU football...

Quote
Richardson does not look confident.
Quote
Maybe we have an Auburn hail marry in us..
Quote
44 yards in 45 seconds. Optimism rising.
Quote
Last year the offense would have turned it over on downs by now, there is promise here
This is just too much.

Quote
only fitting to end with that garbage
Quote
Good effort, but F...this team
Quote
Well that ended in typical Cyclone fashion!
Quote
And the game ends how you'd expect an ISU game to end
Quote
Absolutely heartbreaking
Quote
Can't think of a coach I respect more and hate more than Snyder. Guy just flat out gets it done. Wish ISU would have hired that ******.
Quote
Another home game ****** down the legs in the CPR era. Enough.

Why would you go to the grocery store during the game? Have to stock up before the next flood? And what -- no radio?

(Best of the 16 page post game thread. By far the leading meme is "so proud of the effort, big improvement, blah, blah, blah such as this post from some deluded dumbass:
Great effort today. I sure hope that the fanbase's patience pays off with some wins sooner than later, but if we're going to spend a week running down the coaches and players after a bad game then they deserve credit for battling today.)

Could have won. Almost should have (My personal favorite because of its illiteracy)

Jake Waters is a big time goob

Some day I'll have the foresight to stop watching Iowa State football.
It's no different than doing hard drugs. Feels good to do it, but it's terrible for your health and you hate yourself after.

But that is what happens in this series with K-State. They get the fluke play that allows them to win, blocked PAT, overthrow a Wide A open A-Rob, strangest INT ever, can't wait to see the play we lose on next season.

LHC Bill Snyder is the greatest coach in the big 12 since 1989.
LHC Bill Snyder and Jake Waters both have something in common.....Ia State football turned both of them down for a job and a scholly......
And now we pay the price every year.....

Quote
Iowa State's #1 Jarvis West, right, made the catch with his knees hitting the ground as Kansas State's #15 Randall Evans made the tackle and then stripped the ball for a called interception during football game at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames on Saturday Sept. 6, 2014

Forget that liberal rag in the capital city, the local folks hit the nail on the head.

quote from Ames Tribune:
Quote
Kansas State quarterback Jake Waters scored a 1-yard touchdown with 26 seconds to go before halftime. It counted, but shold it have.

They could have won, and almost shold have. Their beat writers almost have proper punctation, but I think that last sentence almost shold have a question mark.

CPR spends more time on the field than some of Iowa State's starters.    He's Billy Tubbs, but with 98% less success.

Billy Tubbs was hilarious and was not the cartoon character on the sidelines that Rhodes is. The way he behaves is an embarrassment, a grown man having temper tantrums multiple times a game. Maybe the biggest whiner to refs that I've ever seen. I'm stunned he doesn't get unsportsmanlike penalties with the way he shows up officials. He's a less talented, non threatening Bo Pelini.

I don't understand where Rhoads gets off saying "we". He didn't do jack yesterday. I don't remember ever seeing him wear a headset, call a play, talk to players on the sideline. Nothing. All he did was serve as head cheerleader and cry/yell at the poor sideline ref. He didn't do anything to hep his team win. I will never understand what ISU fans see in him.

Speaking of, CPR was looking better on the sidelines, that beer gut was getting out of hand.  Still a little ponchy, but its like a moral victory of weight loss.

Their fans are apathetic, and when their team does well they expect to get kicked in the nuts.  At no point in that game did their fans have hope of pulling out a victory.  It was sad and very negative.  I gave a lot of compliments to them towards Mark Mangino and told them he should be their head coach and not Paul.  They all have the attitude that Big 12 officiating is always against them and they get no respect.  I'm still very impressed that they fill the stadium to watch that mess though.

I haven't read the cigars thread for years, so there may be an obvious answer in there.  Is there any downside to being a 9-team Big 12 sans isu?

Speaking of "fairness," the round-robin, 1 true champ stuff could remain w/all playing 4 home & away.

Less conference hoops games so more OOC flexibility.

Same money, less splitting.

What was the issue they raised last year and were the "lone vote" that apparently has the conference against them?  Was that a reference to the texas game?

Is Pollard blaming the officiating for two isu players letting a kickoff go in between them and an entire kickoff coverage team letting tyreke run one back?

At this point, I am wondering if there might really be a conspiracy going on. We are a low revenue generator for the B12 coffers. Rewarding the haves and punishing the have-nots makes business sense. They would like nothing more than having ISU leave the conference. Too bad this can't be investigated by an outside agency.

Every one in college athletics knows officials favor the ranked teams.  Iowa State's AD has had enough.  He is just stating the obvious.  It needs to be said more often.

I applaud him, he wasn't whiny or arrogant or anything else and they are speaking up about the officiating that we've all complained about in this conference. I have a feeling a "state" school is going to have to say something about it because you know ou or ut won't since they are protected for the most part. I'm surprised more of the teams didn't agree with them when they brought it up last year.

Bravo, ISU AD!

Look, I understand from a sportsmanship angle that you don't want coaches and ADs and players throwing refs under the bus every time they lose a game.  I understand that there will always be controversial calls and plays that could have gone the other way that often affect the outcome of close games.

That's not what this is about.  This is about incompetent officiating - referees who don't know the rules (a la our blocked punt last week) and a broken replay system that gets calls wrong more often that it gets right.  There's zero accountability for these guys and they know it.  That's why you see morons like the referee in the longest replay ever trying to argue with his fellow officials that he didn't screw up.  You see plays reviewed that are obvious to everybody in the stadium, but they have to stop play to make it look like they're doing their job.

Having said that, Big 12 football refs look like all-stars compared to the baffoons who officiate Big 12 basketball games.

Right or wrong (and I expect he's right), I think coaches and administrators should be able to freely voice their opinions on the quality of officiating.

Free speech is guaranteed in the Bill of Rights as something that is important in society.

Stifling complaints in the name of sportsmanship is wrong.

If open commentary is allowed, and an individual has a pattern of being whiny or simply being mistaken, public opinion will provide the necessary negative feedback.

What happened with Iowa State vs. KU in that basketball game a year or two ago was highway robbery.

So when we're kicked out of the Big 12 for exposing the rot where will we land?
The worst we'd fall is AAC or Mountain West. I think the big 10 would actually be a possibility. The big 12 can't kick us out unless we do something Penn State bad, and if they tried, it would go to court. There would either be a stay, or the pay day we'd get would make us attractive to other conferences

He didn't have control. The nose of the ball was between his wrist and his chest when he hit the ground. It wouldn't have counted as a catch, think of it that way.

First segment filled with we had lots of heart and played hard. Rhodes is proud of the defensive game plan. The play by play guy said "some things didn't go our way."

Second segment were highlights, no talk about the play from Rhodes but they did show it twice and I'm honestly not sure how they determined they got screwed.

There is nothing else going to happen so I'm leaving to go to the Sunday live sports call in show.

When a player's knee, hand, elbow or back hit the ground before the ball is out of a player's grasp, the ball(play) is dead.

They keep talking about all of the times the big 12 has apologized to them, but the conference has never done that. They confuse statements from the conference because of the insane amount of whining they do with apologies.

In the KU basketball game the conference said mistakes were made, they never said "Niang should have been awarded a charge." There was no call made, the conference said there should have been a call, it could have been a block or charge.

The UT football game in which they thought they recovered a fumble on the goal line, the conference statement said they got it right. Same with the Lockett call this year, the conference suspended the replay officials but said there wasn't enough evidence to overturn the call.

For the most part, they don't like what Pollard did, everyone wants to know what this vote is he mentioned though.

So you lose by 2 TD's and a field goal but a 'could have gone either way' call in the 1st half was the difference in the ball game?   In just lurking in a couple of other boards over the weekend for many viewers it was a very close call.

As stated, the Lockett catch did not have enough evidence to overturn and was probably the right call to begin with per "the picture".

How about putting yourself in a position where extremely close calls don't matter?

every conference needs a doormat.  iowa state and ku serve that roll in the big 12. we don't want to kick them out.

Like Highlander, doormat is singular.

Big12sports.com removes last 3 minutes of 1st half Highlights (http://cyclonefanatic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=193633)

The basketball highlight tape that they bring up is actually hilarious. Not one single ISU possession in the entire highlight video, and ISU wins.

so to recap, ISU thinks the Big 12 is out to get them because they were opposed to adding another official(which would allow the ball to be spotted quicker, aiding fast pace offenses)

ISU would play the games without officials if they could.  call your own foul.

ISU would be that unathletic guy at pick up basketball games that calls everything, but it doesn't matter because he sucks and his team still loses by 30.

How long do you think the Big 12 had been planning to unleash this devastating and diabolical plan on Iowa State?  From what I hear, this was years in the making, just waiting for the key moment, when the whole nation was watching, to ruin ISU football.   The "playbook" for Operation Codename: Tiger Shark was 513 pages long (not counting the 26 diagrams and 12 full color glossies).  Iowa State know something was afoot when the Big 12 tried to add an 8th official (the eight letter of the alphabet is H [Hawkeyes!]), and tried to block it, but thankfully they were unsuccessful and Operation Codename: Tiger Shark could go into Omega Phase and became essentially unstoppable.

Good thing you're not a replay official. There was zero evidence to overturn the call in the UT game. The correct call was made.

The correct call was also made against OSU. As you can see by that photo, the ball clearly crosses the plane.

How does one even deal with Iowa State guy at this juncture?  Particularly in light of photographic evidence which indicates that at least in two situations that led to the meltdown; the refs actually got it right.

How embarrassing for the 6 or 7 sane fans of ISU having to listen to this meltdown from the very top of their administration.

Pathetic and sad.

What I like most about the ISU video thread is how much they talk about how they can tweak things for the prospective audience of the video, as if anyone besides ISU conspiracy theorists would watch it or care.

Did anyone else notice the "cyclones" hoodie on the dude who got booted from the plane for joking about having Ebola?

True story: A guy on the same flight with a Texas hoodie on made a similar joke and wasn't kicked off the plane for it.  Completely unfair.

Video evidence clearly shows that ISU hoodie was merely explaining the joke made by Texas hoodie and was unfairly kicked off the plane for doing so.

open the press box time capsule in 5 years when the clones are sitting on top of the big 12 and roll out that pollard statue and just say, "told you so" - but not really say it out loud b/c that's not a respectable way for a 'clone to handle himself instead all the 'clones would just chuckle inside and think to themselves "we told you so"  "lol" and then seal that capsule up #pointproven #jaime'snotcrying

One time ISU fired one of their most successful football coaches of all time in Dan McCarney (most wins in ISU history, five bowl appearances, five Top 3 Big 12 north seasons) because of 1 bad season. Despite having the Clones on the cusp of a north title in back to back seasons, just one 1-7 Big 12 season sent Dan packing.

Its good to see that Mr. Pollard has vowed not to let that happen again.

Could you imagine Mary Catherine or whatever her name is hanging out with Sharon and my homegirl Megan? Now imagine this with Anya. Pollard's wife will kick his ass if he shitcans her friend's husband.

with this and the recent article about weber and the maui invitational, i have to wonder if athletic departments aren't just writing their own articles and then finding ways to get them published somewhere.

I'll do it. I have some stuff to do later today, but I think I'll get through a big chunk of it. Game thread was 101 pages last time I looked, though. If anybody else is working on it right now, let me know.

hell of start boys

Quote
Well at least that was only bad not horrible.

Quote
TYPICAL RHOADS

1ST SERIES A DISASTER

wtf. Every gawd damn game

I think they started to do well here.

Quote
Oh man, Lazard is such a beast.

Quote
He looks like he's not all that fast, but the Wildcats weren't exactly catching him.

Quote
Does FS1 get an apology letter for this game?

Also, great return by Lazard.

Quote
Not if they can't pronounce our name right (my wife and her super-pregnancy hearing heard that)

TOUCHDOWN!!!

Quote
Terrible coverage on that by KSU, BTW. WHen he caught the ball there wasn't anybody within 5 yards of him.
You haven't seen many 'cat games this year, have you Die4Cy?

Quote
With each week it's looking more and more like the Mangino thing was just a ridiculous failure. Not that we're the Patriots or anything, but this offense with Lanning is completely different than Mangino calling plays for SBR.

Yes, I predict they will be even more explosive in the second half than in the first. Mangino definitely won't be tweeting major LOLs after the game.

Quote
We are so lucky that Lazard is a Cyclone...

Quote
I do not like that they have a WR named Deonte Burton
Trust us, neither do we.

Quote
Bwahahaha they pulled the Tim Tebow play
Do they not know that Gronkowski is not our quarterback?

Quote
We got Gronk'd

Quote
We're just dumb, cripes. Who was supposed to cover him? Ugly defensive effort, thanks Wally. Please friggin' retire!
Got a post with both cripes and friggin' in there. Nice work.

Quote
Approximately the 354th time KST has beat us on a fake-run pass in the Snyder era.

Quote
Somehow this will be ruled a fumble and KSU recovery.

Refs hate ISU :frown:

Quote
Even if they were to screw us on the incompletion, I don't know how you look at that video and say someone has the ball more than Lanning. You'd think facing winless KSU we won't get the typical rape from replay but who knows.

Quote
I really hate the K state cheerleaders

Then I think this was when they fumbled near our goal line:

Quote
We have a 235 lb. bulldozer with strong legs at QB. Why are we afraid to do the QB sneak???

Quote
3rd AND SHORT ON GOALINE RHOADS

WHY NOT OUR BIGGER FRESHMAN RB??

GOOD LORD

Quote
How very Iowa State of us.

Quote
(https://media.giphy.com/media/oIR6xeOffCEBa/giphy.gif)

Quote
Excited for halftime.

Quote
How ******* hard is it to line up under center. Rhoads is a clown fire him.

Quote
I still don't understand why I watch this.

Quote
Get hands to nutz and punch it in!

Quote
We've been running through their line all morning, so we go shotgun at the 1 yard line!?

Quote
Get that endzone pregnant!

Quote
Thats a touchdown, obviously. Knee down and the ball across the plane. So of course, the ruling on the field will stand.

Quote
That was clearly a touchdown. 95% of the time they overturn that. But for ISU...I'd say 50/50 at best.
Oh believe me, that was absolutely a TD and you guys should be pissed. But still, LOL @ u

Quote
WTF? The Big 12 wants KSU to go bowling I suppose...

Quote
Big 12 replay reviewers are too incompetent to work at McDonalds. That is just absolutely 100% wrong. I want to hear all the idiot apologists on this board defend that. That's a 6 points for ISU 100%.

IT WAS A TD BY OVER 2 FEET!!!!!

Quote
Overturning Lanning's TD run where nobody touches him and he waltzes into the end zone would make exactly as much sense as the TD they didn't confirm. Just absolutely mind blowing how horrible our replay review is, they are wrong more often than they are right on critical plays, how the H does this stand???????

Quote
How do we get that a screwed? Do they need HD TV's so they can see what we see?

This was a great humblebrag about having an HDTV. Snooty golf clap.

Quote
Because we scored our moron apologists here won't defend that one. Had KSU stopped us they'd trump up some nonsense in their mind.

That call needs to be publicly addressed by the Big 12. Absolutely the worst call of the entire season, just unfathomably bad to confirm the call on the field when the ball is over two feet beyond the plane, completely disgusting. Either the replay booth is fixing games or they have major brain damage and probably should be committed to some sort of treatment.

Quote
Did Ryen just get crushed by the punter?

Yes. Yes he did.

Quote
he got slobberknocked there, and due to the flag it wasn't even worth anything. poop.

Quote
NICE TOUCHDOWN!!!~

!!!~

Quote
Offense of the future right there, folks. Beautiful.

Quote
Man whats our record if lanning started all year

probably still pretty bad

Then Morgan Burns returns a kickoff for a TD.

Quote
aw dang

Quote
Just ******* squib kick it

Quote
Not trying to get on the Rhoads subject again, but I'm not sure u fire this year and mess with what the offense has going right now.

pffft

Quote
Our kickoff coverage team is one of the best in the nation. Have to tip your hat to them.

Quote
Ow my balls!

Quote
Anybody else think that "K-S-U" chant after touchdowns is the most annoying thing in college football?

yes

Quote
KSU theme song is almost as annoying as boomer sooner

I personally am a huge fan of our theme song
 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWaDC07VzQI)

Then I guess they had that 76-yard td run in I think the second quarter

Quote
YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUP

Quote
76 yards *******!!! Go Warren.

Quote
This game has 'Iowa State' written all over it, one way or another.

Seems like Madguy76 might not be so mad after all.

Quote
Is Satan the announcer in the K-State stadium?

wut

Quote
Just spy him because dude is not a good throwing QB

yes but paul rhoades is (was?) your coach so that will not happen

Quote
Huebner taking the kind of hits that do not make him a stronger player late in the game.

infighting:
Quote
Dude. We've got 28 points and the lead in Manhattan KS, with more time left to score. Lots to cheer about.

Meanwhile, you've got four posts in this thread- one asking about selling beer in college stadiums, the other three all talking **** about our football team. Lighten up, Francis.

Quote
K-State's QB looks like an oil well out there... he keeps fetting drilled!
fet bent, jerk

Quote
You could really hear the ISU fans all cheer when Lazard pulled that stiff arm.

Then there was that weird was-it-a-TD-catch-or-not that ISU had going into the SEZ. The one the refs initially ruled an incompletion but then overturned. First, Clonefans had like 3 pages of people saying stuff like this:

Quote
ISU will never get this call

then like two pages of this:
Quote
OMG did that call just go our way?

Quote
Guess they figured there was no reason to protect K-State at this point in the season.
yes, k-state is notorious for referee favoritism

Quote
Now. Keep this going in the 2nd half. Send Snyder to the crypt!

Quote
Yea we got a call in a game that doesn't matter much. Go refs.

Toward the very end of the first half:
Quote
know how this ends right?
:frown:

Quote
Still have bad memories of what, 35-7 up on KSU in Ames and losing.

Quote
If the first half was a pillow fight, we must have loaded our pillow with a bowling ball.
you loaded your second half one with a suicide vest

Quote
Winning is more fun than losing
:Wha:

Quote
Anyone remember us leading KSU in Kansas City 28-7 at the half...in the early days of calling this game "Farmaggedon"...and things got ugly in the 2nd half?

Lets NOT do that today Cyclones! Keep the pedal on the gas ALL game long.

Quote
Luckily, I think we have provided ourselves a big enough lead for when we get outcoached in the 2nd half.

Quote
Has anyone mentioned that 1999 game yet?

Quote
Note to CPR haters: You may want to shovel your driveway for the next hour and a half. It would be a lot less stressful.

Quote
At this point it's almost insane to think we won't have our best offense in almost a decade next year. I can't remember an offense or defense having this kind of turnaround within one season, something was really really off with Mangino.
It will turn back around in the second half, don't worry

SECOND HALF BEGINS.

Quote
80s stocking caps

Quote
Simple formula...score two touchdowns this half and we win.

Quote
How good of a bowl are we playing in next year.

Quote
I think I've seen this movie before and I did not like the ending...

Quote
Here's the beginning of the comeback

Quote
Time for a long K-State TD drive to really make us put the nut cups on.

Quote
ANother CONSERVATIVE 2nd HALF RHOADS

PLAYING TO LOSE

Quote
Snyder had his prune juice, ready to s*** all over us.

Quote
Moved the ball some, now need a stop. I'm afraid I'm about ready to watch a bad episode of Love Boat here. Always watch each week, know the outcome, can't help but tune in.

Quote
Death by a thousand cuts right now. Need to get pressure.

Quote
Well we can chalk this up as a lost

I mean, I think this was in the third quarter when momentum was with the q@s, but guys, you're still winning.

Quote
Have no confidence the good guys will win this. Totally waiting for the other shoe to drop. It's too nice out to have a knot in gut watching ball.

Gotta step away

Quote
Game in 2nd half IS ALL RHOADS

Our players FREEZE and we get conservative and SOFT

IT's frustrating as h#ll

Quote
At this point, blowing a three touchdown lead at half time is a fire-able offense.

FOURTH QUARTER BEGINS AND IT'S ONLY PAGE 58 of a 105 PAGE THREAD

This was where there was that TD pass from Hubeneoir to...Cook?...where they thought maybe he bobbled the ball out, and they spent forever reviewing what was obviously a TD.
Quote
There was a 0% chance we ever get that call so move on and blame the defense instead of the refs for this collapse.

Quote
Stupid rule and hosed on replay

Quote
This should be a TD, but if there is any sort of continuity in the Big 12 it should be called incomplete.

Quote
If you're a Kansas State fan you have to be laughing your *** off.

ISU Football:

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Again and again and again.

K-State fans were laughing throughout the entirety of this game, but for two distinctly different reasons.

Quote
Let's shock the world and be aggressive with the lead for once.

Quote
This game is going to solidify Rhoads' fate. Big win at KSU or big collapse at KSU.

Quote
I'm going to be sick to my stomach if we don't score again in the 2nd half and lose 42-35.

Quote
Oh, mother ******.

Quote
crap

Quote
Ugh, sack out of field goal range.
omg that part was so lol, i totally forgot about that

Quote
We are in trouble. Need a stop. We made it twice to around the 30 and imploded.
wait'll you see these fumbles, son

Quote
Here comes the pooch punter, aaaannnnnddd its a touchback

Quote
We need to petition NCAA, for team in lead they have choice to make Halftime optional

Quote
The Magic win number for RHOADS should be FOUR

THIS GAME IS VINTAGE RHOADS VS SNYDER

ASTOUNDING 2nd Half COLLAPSE

Quote
What a ******* joke. What other fanbase take a three touchdown lead into halftime KNOWING they're going to lose? Jesus tap dancing ****** find us a coaching staff that that can keep that from happening

What's extra great is that I don't think K-State had even tied the game at this point.

Quote
We're going to win.

Quote
The Old Man saved the pop pass for the 4th quarter. Surprised about that. Hopefully too little to late for the Purple Kitties.

Quote
We are so bad in the second half. No adjustments ever get made and we get too conservative. This is a perfect example of why Rhoads and staff needs to go. It's happened at least two dozen times since Rhoads has been here.

Quote
And go figure, we F***ING FUMBLE!!!

Quote
**** **** ******* **** and ****!!!

Quote
Just ****in put a gd fork in use. ****

Maybe they can tie it and in OT can block a PAT to really rub salt in old wounds

Broken up!!! Cyclone football!

Quote
Hell yeah. Let's run this clock out now. HOLD ONTO THE DAMN BALL, MIKE.
:dubious:

Quote
Run the ball/clock and score to give Bill a nice reitrement gift (a home loss)

Quote
Well now. Don't fumble it.

Quote
Wow. K-State blows a timeout with 3 seconds left on the play clock to avoid the penalty.

Quote
We're going to win.

Quote
We're going to win this, but omg why can't anything be easy?

Quote
YES!!!!!!

DOWNS!

Quote
Just don't fumble now.

Quote
Thank god. Gonna win this one without even scoring in the second half. Sheesh.

Quote
Kansas State's awfulness won us the game

Ordinarily I would say yes, but not today friend

Quote
Thank god ugly game but a wins a win

Quote
ISU wins, in spite of poor coaching. Thank you KSU for being so terrible. Jezuz

Quote
Should not have been that hard but we'll take it. Great Win!

Quote
no 2nd half points; hang onto the damn ball

Quote
Why we running the ball instead of Victory Formation???

Quote
Now, kneel.

Quote
OH MY GOD!!!!

LOST THE BALL AND WARREN DOWN

Quote
Why the **** weren't we taking a knee!!!?!?!?

Quote
No, that is not possible. It's really not possible.

(and about 17,000 other posts questioning why they didn't just take a knee)

Quote
How do u call that ruling on field was fumble?!

Quote
**** *** face *** chew *** dumb *** bill *** why?

Quote
KNEE THE ******* BALL.

YOU CAN'T EVEN FIGURE OUT A VICTORY FORMATION?!?!?!?!?!

Quote
I hope he is fired after the game regardless of the outcome for absolute ******** play calling to end the game.

Quote
And Warren is hurt.

Quote
Someone play the circus theme in the stadium.

Quote
Win or lose...fire his a**. This program has a black cloud over it. We need to hit the reset button.

Quote
So much ineptitude in 2nd halfs. So thoroughly out coached when it comes to adjustments. Yet another second half egg.

Quote
Wow, this is a horrible nightmare

I think we had scored to tie it at this point.

Quote
Hey we still have 42 secs to turn over the ball so they can win in regulation.

Quote
We sure are a special kind of losers.

Quote
OT and we're gonna lose, can just feel it. Not being negative, just realistic. Fire CPR now, no reason it should've been an OT game anyway.

Quote
I feel like taking a baseball bat to a window right now.

Quote
Don't care if we back our way into a win here some way, done watching this team until coaching changes are made. Blowing a 21 point lead in the second half against one of the bottom teams in the conference is unacceptable.

Hope JP fires him at the entrance the bus, him Pat Hayden style

Quote
I think the funniest part is Rhoads has this win if he just takes a knee. What a dumba$$

Quote
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Duck this ****.
Why didn't you use asterisks for both of 'em?

Quote
ARE YOU ****INGG KIDIIING ME??????????

Quote
I guess you could have taken a knee for 2 times, then run it for Kansas St TO. Everybody runs it though the first time.

Quote
This won't even go to overtime.

I think maybe this is right when we're like lining up to kick the game winning field goal or something.
Quote
Bye Paul

Quote
Holy smokes. We are Iowa State.

Quote
HAhahahahahahahahahahahahHHHaaa

Quote
What a bunch of ducking losers.

Quote
Fire this ********. NOW

Quote
I've seen it all.

Quote
YOU EITHER CALL THE TIMEOUT AND GET A GOOD PLAY RUN OR YOU RUN THE CLOCK OUT. YOU DON'T PUT YOUR QB IN THAT POSITION. UNBELIEVABLE.

Quote
Hey look, centering the ball for the FG attempt. That's what coaches with brains do.

Quote
LOL. It's almost comical at this point. JP has nothing left to sell to the fans. Was a good ride Rhoads, don't let the door hit your *** on the way out.

Quote
Centering the ball now. Radical strategy.

My daughter says this is crazy. She is right on.

Quote
LOOK AT THAT, RHOADS - THE K-STATE QB CENTERED THE BALL FOR THE GAME-WINNING FG.

**** YOU...

Man, they are really mad about that.

Quote
Baahaaahaaahaaaa! Don't even get on the bus CPR! See if K-State has a need for assistant coach.
We do, but you fired the one we kinda want.

Quote
I guess Bill is giving us a retirement gift of a new coaching staff. I don't see how they can survive this failure of a game.

Quote
This is great. I love it

Quote
Besides the play calling, can't fault the coach for players fumbling. Okay, glass half full. Geez.

Quote
As a Cyclone from a long line of Cyclones, this is what being an ISU fan has always, and will always be about. At least we have the Mayor to give us years of....nevermind.

Quote
Wrong week to stop sniffing glue.

Quote
Fire him before he can get on the bus. He can find his own ducking ride home,.though he should be embarrassed to set foot in Iowa again.

Thanks, CloneLawman.

Quote
I hope they make this field goal so paul can be done.

Quote
Ooooo, the double ice 'em with 2 time outs maneuver.

Brilliant.

Quote
THIS GAME EPITOMIZES 100 YEARS OF FUTILITY.

GREAT JOB RHOADS.

THIS IS ALL COACHING

UNBELIEVABLE

FIRE STURDY AND RHOADS

Quote
The coaching staff didn't fumble the ball, but all their belongings should be in boxes outside the Jacobson building and the locks changed when they get back to Ames. And forfeit the WV game.

Quote
We have seen so many epic losses but this was the best. So bad that you almost have to enjoy it.

Quote
This is the dumbest thing I have EVER seen in Iowa State sports in my life.

Quote
Someone needs to give our player paper bags--they should not have to endure the humiliation of walking off the field without some cover...

Quote
Most Iowa State game EVER.

Quote
Hopefully the media actually asks him some tough questions after that debacle. I'd like to hear him try to explain why we didn't take a knee on either of those possessions or call a time out if we were going to try to get into field goal range. Should also ask him what he thought of Snyder's decision to center the ball for the field goal too.

Quote
Too the players.. Thank you for all you do. To the coaching staff, if you aren't already fired... Do the noble thing and quit.

Quote
3 kneels plus a punt and Kansas St. has 10-20 seconds left to hail mary it down the field.

Stop blaming the players and blame the coach for being a *******.

Quote
When you look back this heart-breaker may be the one you are actually happy for. Before today I figured that CPR was back, but after that finish I think he actually might be gone now. Weird how things change so dramatically in less than two hours. I hope the 4.5 M and whatever the new coach gets is worth it.

Quote
FIRE HIM NOW. Don't let him on the bus. Don't let him coach the final game of the season. Keep him away from our campus. FIRE RHOADS NOW. **** him.

Quote
I turned the game off the moment we missed the 4th and 1 on our first possession of the 2nd half. I said, "I've seen this replay thousands of times before - we are definitely losing this game." I didn't watch or listen or know anything about the final outcome until my daughter told me the horrible (but completely unsurprising) news. How in the **** can you play two games in a row where you score ZERO points, after looking so good in the first half? Rhoads will be given another year, you can take that to the bank - but he SHOULD BE FIRED IMMEDIATELY after this fiasco. We are a better team than KSU (player-wise), but we continue to be completely OUT-COACHED before the end of the game!

Quote
Any retards still defending Rhoads after this should just cut their dicks off now.

Quote
As mind-numbingly stupid as the first fumble when we could have won the game was, I think we also need to take to time to look what absolutely moronic coaching it was when we got the ball back in a tie game. Our team was clearly shell-shocked, the stadium was going insane, and our offense had done nothing for an entire half of football. Why the holy **** did we not just kneel down and take the time to regroup and settle down our guys and try to win in overtime? Of course, Rhoads had to be "so proud" and try to go on a dramatic game-winning drive against a fired-up team and we fumble again.

Quote
They just beat us with a player that wasn't even a QB!!!!! He was an emergency back up!!!!!

Quote
We NEED TO SUPPORT OUR PLAYERS! CLEARLY, we have some phenomenal talent, and I for one want to THANK them for their effort and loyalty!

Quote
There will be a new coach. Mangino said so in his tweet. The barn has burned down. The bridge has collapsed. Start that list of coaches.

Quote
I think it was confirmed today why Snyder is "a Paul Rhoads fan."

Quote
Someone on the call in show just said we were 2 years away from a national title with Rhoads as our coach. Lol

Quote
If Rhoads isn't fired this week Jack Trice Stadium had better be empty against WVU.

It's at WV...

 That was all glorious.

When Lucy Van Pelt said "Of all the Charlie Browns in the world, you're the Charlie Browniest", she wasn't talking to Charlie Brown; she was talking to Iowa State.

My favorite.

did they have a game where they missed a FG that wasn't centered or something?

I think the Toledo game from earlier this year.

Yeah, and in fairness to them they were pissed when it happened. IIRC ISU had the ball with like a minute left and a few TOs and they didn't take the ball off of the hash and I think their kicker had already pushed a couple of kicks that game.

Yeah very well done, SB.  Great pulls and great commentary.  Those poor bastards.

Work such as this is why SkinBen is a super elite poster.

I did notice them using the word "Duck" quite a bit in the posts Bens provided for us.  At first I was confused.  Then I realized the FloodAggie fans were just referring to their unique situation at ISU playing their major sports in in venues that double as duck ponds during the off season.

This could go in about 5 different threads but I'm putting it here. Don't read the article just skip to the comments and sort them by oldest. Check out the work of Paul and Mike; Cyclone fans are uniquely wonderful.

Terrible decision by Pollard. Being fired for player fumbles is a huge fumble on his part. Play calling in the second half could have been more aggressive. Rhoads has the Cyclones close to greatness! Let's fire him and wait 4-5 more years! Great job to the Off Linemen for the job they did this year!

I thought Iowa St was a competitive upward trending team, covering the point spread in all but 4 games..They made money for me...

Covering the spread in half their games. It is amazingly easy to satisfy ISU fans.

A local television station asked if respondents agreed with the Paul Rhoads firing and 57% said no.

Some, not enough to make that not a complete embarrassment and so ISUy. This wasn't even a web poll, it was a phone poll, I doubt that many Hawkeyes could be bothered.

The Big 12 needs an ISU rule where conference members can force a school to not fire a coach who wins 0 Big 12 games.

FTFY
