Title: Doctor Appointment Experiences
Post by: 420seriouscat69 on May 15, 2014, 09:33:47 AM
Today I found out my blood pressure was 160 over 100 ( :sdeek:). Also, they pasted these things on my chest to see how my heart was doing and they had two glitches on the scan and want me to come back in 4 weeks for something else.  :ohno: However, when changing my medication today, she said, "We wanna make sure we don't make it too strong. You're still pretty young and we don't want any problems in the love department ( ;)). I love my doctor.

Before anyone goes to the doctor you should know that the doctors time is 1000 times more
important than yours.  You should arrive at 8:45 for a 9:00 appt. and then expect to read bad magazines
until 9:50 when your name is eventually called.  Good grief how does someone get so far behind on
their third patient of the day.

i went to the doctor for routine maintenance one time. I had him look at some moles on my back to be safe.

Doc: "well those aren't technically moles, no risk here"

me: "what are they? nipples? hahahaha"

Doc: "hmmm... its possible."

It can be, but if it's consistently high then that is hypertension.  You should probably buy a $50 wrist monitor from your local pharmacy and monitor that.

To an extent. I wouldn't expect any noticeable changes due to diet until sticking with it for at least a few weeks, though. If you can do something for the anxiety, I would expect more immediate results. I'm not sure what you are supposed to do about that, though, other than maybe improving your outlook on life. What is stressing you out? If it's money, don't worry about it. Just take all of the money you are saving due to not drinking any more and pay off your debt.

there's this thing referred to as "white coat syndrome" where people get a little anxious in doctor's offices so their blood pressure will elevate. 160/100 is pretty damn high though. you are the demographic that doctors especially struggle with because you are otherwise healthy and not obese so it will be tough to get you to change your lifestyle.

the more you know.  :gocho:

Title: Re: Doctor Appointment Experiences

Great deets you guys. I usually only sleep for like 6 hours. Unless I've had a few night caps and I can sleep for a solid 8-9. She gave me some natural sleep medicine for ppl w/ anxiety. She thinks lack of sleep is half the problem. My anxiety isn't money. It's just hard to explain. It's a chemical imbalance that runs on my moms side. It's just certain moments out of nowhere. Hence, the time I gave a cheers to my former CEO at my last job, shook, and blasted his glass. It's hard to explain, but I feel a lot more comfortable with this new doctor.

Maybe it's younger brother syndrome. I'm always waiting for the slap!  :dunno:

Today I found out my blood pressure was 160 over 100 ( :sdeek:). Also, they pasted these things on my chest to see how my heart was doing and they had two glitches on the scan and want me to come back in 4 weeks for something else.  :ohno: However, when changing my medication today, she said, "We wanna make sure we don't make it too strong. Wacky, I'm really worried about your BP.
Thanks man. I'm working on it. Can confirm my mother and I are not fat. It's mainly the caffeine in take, stress, and booze in take. I have been slowing down on all of those here recently tho.

Have you considered meditation?
I'm willing to look into it. She referred some ppl to see. She also referred a specialist for that bald spot that showed up on the back of my head last year. Propecia. Man i'm crumbling the the last year of my 20's.  :runaway:

Propecia will kill your sex drive.  I wouldn't mess with that crap if I were you.  Either suck it up and accept the baldness or try rogaine.

I just got my lab results back and I guess I have extremely low thyroid levels. Like almost as low as it can get. This is the cause for severe depression, hair loss and trimmers at times (which might explain my fear of public speaking all of a sudden). They’re getting me on thyroid medicine, plus a fish oil and a bunch of vitamins to help me. I knew something was up, it’s just nice to know that I wasn’t crazy this whole time. I mean, i'm on anxiety medicine, thyroid medicine, and blood pressure medicine now at the age of 29.  :sdeek:?

I've had a whole host of mental health issues for the majority of my life. Docs have prescribed lots of meds over the years, and none of them have done jack crap. I've been seeing a psychologist lately though, and he seemed to think that most of my problems were actually just symptoms of having untreated ADHD. He wanted me to see a psychiatrist and get some meds for the condition, I was very  :dubious: due to my previous experiences. Finally bit the bullet though, and today is my first day on ADHD meds. Holy crap, I feel fantastic. First time I've felt genuinely happy, motivated, and clear minded in years.

He didn't spot any other symptoms, he's just the first one to suggest that the other mental health issues WERE symptoms of untreated ADHD. I've had other doctors diagnose me with ADHD before, but they were more interested in treating the other stuff first. "b's" are only tough at the beginning of words. I sound like that cartoon dog Droopy when I say them. They're easy to skim over in the middle of words. "v's" are pretty easy (KATDADDY, NO!!) but I'm not sure how that makes sense.

It doesn't.  V and F are both labio-dental consonants.  The mouth action involved (KATDADDY!!!) is identical.  Only difference is that V engages the vocal chords and F does not.

It doesn't take as much air for them. When I try to pronounce "f" or "p" all the air I'm trying to push out gets stuck in the side of my cheek instead of being expounded normally.

Liquids are tough. My face/mouth aren't numb, just paralyzed so feeling isn't an issue. I feel like a slob because half my mouth stays open when I chew food. Besides smiling/laughing, eating is definitely the most embarrassing part of this whole ordeal.

Some pretty heavy stuff here.   On a lighter note,  Muldoon was once forgotten by the medical staff on the gurney while waiting for a colonoscopy.  More than 24 hours without food, anxiety, and listening to others be wheeled out who arrived after me had me set firmly as the #1 IRL douchebox.

Do not believe. Sorry.
To clarify,  I had to fast for more than 24 hours so there were no leftovers in my bowels.  I was forgotten for three hours.  Ended up just being some hemorrhoids.   Eat lots of fiber guys!

With that clarification, I am now a believer.

Interesting if accurate.

Well if what you say is in fact accurate then I recant and say this.  Mrs Bf has been getting pressure from a classmate to start up a telemedicine practice/service for western Kansas folks to use.  Should she be worried about an increased potential for lawsuits?  Seems like its more likely for her to miss something and then  :fan-1:

Not sure it is less awkward for the physician to tell me to take my pants off and then leave for 5 min.  A simple turn around or wash hands and get gloves or whatever would be more efficient.

I basically mean that there is only so much you can do if you aren't physically present, so you really aren't going to screw anything up. It's not like you can lose a lawsuit as a doctor for a simple misdiagnosis, anyway.

HE needs the 5 minutes, not you.

practicioners with empathy never really get sued. so as long as she has that, she's fine whether she's seeing the person face to face or over the phone.

It was mostly my thyroid all a long. Levels are finally normal and my anxiety is only bad when I have to meet with my CEO. I think that's normal, right?
