Frank Martin announced that junior forward Jordan Henriquez has been suspended indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team.
“He’s a fine young man that needs to refocus on all the positive things that he’s done here for two years. He just needs a moment away so he can regain the vision that he had when he came here. Like me and everyone else at that age, he’s at a moment where he’s lost sense of what’s expected of him on a daily basis.”
During his suspension, Henriquez will not practice with the team. He will meet with Martin next week to talk about where is and whether he is ready to come back.
When asked how big a blow his loss is, Martin replied that it is irrelevant, citing that the team won without him against Texas on Wednesday night.

Son of a rough ridin' bitch. :shakesfist:

These bitches were made for dunking on, and that's just what he'll do. Godspeed. :(
-
Frank knows when he can afford to suspend players, so blessed.
-
T's and P's. Can't wait to go deep on the bench with Diaz and VO. :dubious:
-
JO is the player number 1 to get Franked this year. Who is the leader for the 2nd Franking??? Martavious?
-
I don't think this is a Frank thing. Frank's comment that it is "irrelevant" is stupid and unfortunate. But, when our players have been suspended in the past it has always been for something non-frank related. Curtis, Jake, Jamar...all non-frank stuff. I don't think Frank has ever suspended a player for anything he didn't have to.

If its NCAA related we'll know, if its weed (seriously doubt it) we'll figure it out. I believe Frank suspended Jamar in the summer/fall before the 10-11 season. If there isn't precedent for Frank himself to suspend a player like you said, there is always a first time for everything. I suspect that Frank did suspend JO based on comments about practice the last couple of weeks and his sub patterns, JO has essentially been benched the last two games mid-game.
Frank is really testing my resolve. I feel like he is BIOQing the Frankites.
-
well this should be fun.
-
JFC, do we have to endure this idiotic turrmoil every year?
So dumb.

Besides fighting the Cal Bears did Colon sit out like this. Seems like it.

Every. Freaking. Year.
I was just getting ready to make this post about how I think we play our best ball when Henriquez is zoned in(Bama, LB, Missouri, large parts of Baylor), then this...
I'm all in here, but this crap just gets old.

it certainly is a frank thing. other coaches don't give two shits and certainly don't suspend unless forced to.
anti-frankites of the world unite.

Does this really happen every year? Yeah, it happened last year, but that was completely different. I don't recall anything like this in 09-10 or 08-09. Andre Gilbert was suspended in 07-08, but he sucked major balls.

We need someone ITK. :frown:

I have never been so angry with Frank as I was last night when he refused to take Vic out of the game. I have just eclipsed that level of anger.

My point is that this is a very unique situation because it's occurring in-conference and it's a major contributor. I forgot about Wally.
IIRC, I was pretty pissed at Frank for one of his early suspensions (CK last year before VT, IIRC). Kind of funny, looking back.

It's in gods hands now you guise, it's in gods hands.

also cannot wait for dax to see this thread
-
Every season is more or less the same.
Which is okay with me because it's fun. JO will be back in time to DOB on the hard teams.
-
Goddammit, Frank, you stubborn bad person.
Also, if Pendergast knows he's a little bitch, it's Frank's job to get him to stop being a little bitch by the second game. against a top 25 team.
Also, it's year three with CK. YOU'VE HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO GET HIM TO WORK IN PRACTICE.
This isn't your goddam JV team, Frank.
ha, ha, I love reading my old meltdowns. Wish my Snyder meltdown was still available. I was pretty rough ridin' obnoxious.
-
Man, this month has the makings of being one of the most meltdowny ever.
-
ck was for pot
-
Also, I think I'm being pretty generous by saying this might get us an extra win in the postseason. Remember when Jake had the fantastic KU game but got sat for most of @MU? Well, the loss to MU put us firmly on the bubble, and in March, Jake got brutally Travoned. "Frank being Frank" is just another way of saying "stupid being stupid".
GO! GO! GO YOU ADORABLE SONOFABITCH!
-
this is so boring. it's becoming cliche'. i mean, call me when a player decides to go tyler hughes an rape little boys or something.
has frank had a player suspended in every year here?
07/08- didn't gilbert get suspended right before the ku game?
08/09 -
09/10 - colon
10/11 - eye hernia / dillards'
11/12 - DOB
no coincidence that the one year we didn't (I think ) we went to the NIT.

God bless, JO, God bless.

JO obviously not doing things the right way. :dunno:

4 sounds like a good number. Hopefully 2-2 over those games and he returns for A&M.

Didn't we play OSU on the road last year without CK? Why yes, I believe we did. How did that work out for us?

All I can do is sigh.
He should be back before the back-to-back-to-back series from hell round 2.

JO is going to come back baptized HARD. Think private pile from full metal jacket but less suicide and more DOB

So probably a dumb question, but does anyone else think that Watsons eye hernia may be cured by Saturday? :dunno:

K you guise, I don't want to dirty my name from having some ppl in "the know" from Manhattan but here we go. Rumor is JO has been blowing up vocally a lot in practice lately. From what I hear he went off at Halftime yesterday to all of his teammates and today at practice. Sounds like he must be pissed about other things than basketball, but apparently Frank didn't like the message at half. Makes sense now. Again this is from "the know insidery". You're all welcome.
-
Have you ever had a few bad weeks at work where everyone is telling you, you don't seem like yourself, what's wrong? This is what it sounds like. Did a filly break his heart? :shakesfist:

fanning, if you don't want dirty your name, just PM it to Trim. He wouldn't mind dirtying your name.

I sure hope Jordan hasn't been reading the official criticisms thread and getting pissed off at Frank like I've been doing lately. Might be a good idea to make that a premium only thread.

I don't need additional PMs to continue dirtying fanning's name in an effort to gain a small measure of revenge for what he's done to goEMAW's name.
Also, doesn't take a big time ITK'r to figure out that JO once again caught wind of Wyatt's "jokes" and has been discombobulated since.

If this ends up being true, then Frank's salary should be suspended for as long as JO is suspended. What a stupid reason to issue an indefinite suspension.
-
Frank's Octogon of Perpetual Drama, while frustrating at times, is pretty entertaining.
-
Oh, forgot to add how I love when these things happen and it brings out the tucks talking about how LHC Bill Snyder or Bill Self treat their players so much better.
It really reminds you about the power of PR, spin and public image.

Just as much drama in BBSing than w/ Frank. Personally, I enjoy FMs personality, and it doesn't bother me at all. WIll continue to feel this way until all our best players quit.
Obviously, some people just need to get their hands on deck. Ever hear of that one, Stan?!??

Frank might be a huge hyporcrite. If he suspends Jo because he yells negative things at everybody, isn't he just doing what Frank does? You know they say the team takes on the personality of the coach......

First of all, he didn't suspend him for that, stupid theory. Secondly, if he did that doesn't make him a hypocrite. Frank is the dad, he is the boss. Do you have a father, do you have children, do you have a job? Do you ascribe to the FP theory that parents and kids are equals, or that stupid upside down triangle theory of hierarchy? The boss gets to behave in ways that others can't, hence being the boss.

Maybe JO's brand of vocal leadership is hard to recognize? Maybe yelling at teammates and calling for more oops and less being a pussy isn't appreciated in the morale building manner it may be intended?
Maybe....
Maybe Rod plays the way he has because he is trying to spare the rest of the team from JO's verbal leadership. Maybe he thinks that if he can just do this, JO would simmer down?
Maybe we are seeing the latest coach spin off from the Shakey/Frank tree.
Maybe he follows Wally on Twitter and thinks that Wally sounds pretty happy now.

Lol, did they already forget how OB ran off a running back who was at one time the top recruit in his class already? The Massa has had a few pretty high profile recruits transfer as well (Micah Downs, David Padgett, Alex Galindo, C.J. Giles, etc.). Those were kids that "just didn't fit with KU" or "wanted to be closer to home." Image really is everything, OB is the harmless gentle old guy and Frank is the meanie who yells at kids.

Ho Hum, just another day @ goEMAW, MIR is angry and wants to fight someone.
Yep

Seth davis @SethDavisHoops 3m
Not naming names, but when you see a player suspended for violating team rules or conduct detrimental, 90 pct of time he failed a drug test.
:dunno:

is it possible that he got himself pregnant? yes i realize i'm throwing darts but i just don't know.

whatever happened to MCMW? :shakesfist:

I swear Seth Davis got his twitter hacked. It's like he flipped a switch over the new year and stopped being a nice-guy dumbass. I like it.

Yeah. Because, not naming names, but when Seth Davis says something, 90 pct of time it is complete fluff.

But it's gotten better. Seriously.

Oh, forgot to add how I love when these things happen and it brings out the tucks talking about how LHC LHC Bill Snyder or Bill Self treat their players so much better.
It really reminds you about the power of PR, spin and public image.
This seems somewhat complimentary of Frank, you okay?
Overall I like Frank a lot . . . sometimes I think he's too over the top, I wish he would recruit better, I don't like how his teams are a complete offensive mess at times-but that's the way he likes it apparently, and it is kind of straight out of the Huggins system, a train wreck that pounds the glass. I really hate the "everybody run to the ball" defense which at times trades two's for threes or a simple layup for an oppossing crowd loving dunk. But that said, I'll take what Frank is doing, over what we had prior to Frank/Hugs all day every day.

...I think someone hacked dax's goEMAW account.
-
I think the bigger questions we need to be asking are?
-Will there by any pictures of Jo exiting the Riley County Courthouse?
-Were any airsoft rifles and women walking on campus involved?
-Are there concerns about support payments to minor children?
-Does this involve a time after midnight, a car "purchased" from a former player and underaged women?

From Kitchen...
A lot of speculation exists regarding the reasoning for Kansas State basketball player Jordan Henriquez‘s indefinite suspension for conduct detrimental to the team, including just how long “indefinite” may be. Time, as it were, may be the overall theme.
According to a source, Henriquez has been vocal inside the team recently about his playing time. He was consistent with his displeasure to the point that head coach Frank Martin tired of it. Therefore, the coach made the decision to put his junior forward in what was described as a “time out” from practice and games for the time being, with a meeting scheduled between the two next week. Depending on the meeting’s outcome, the exact day of which is unknown at this point, the thought is that Henriquez should be back soon after.
The source did not say what ultimately prompted Martin’s decision to issue the suspension.
“Jordan has to understand that it is a privilege to be a member of this basketball team,” Martin said in a school release announcing the suspension. “Hopefully, the time away will help him understand that there are consequences to our actions and make him a stronger player.”
Prior to the released statement, Martin met with media and talked more about Henriquez.
“He is a fine young man. He needs to refocus on the positive things that he has done here for two years,” Martin said. “He just needs a moment away so he can regain the vision that he had when he came here. He is like me and everyone else at that age. He is at a moment where he lost sense of what is expected of him on a daily basis.
“He just needs to regroup. He and I will visit next week, make decisions and move forward from there.”
Henriquez is averaging 18.9 minutes, 7.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.29 blocks per game this season. He had been averaging 20.3 minutes until recording only eight minutes against both Oklahoma and Texas the past two contests. He did not appear in the second half against the Longhorns.
K-State plays at Oklahoma State on Saturday before traveling to Lubbock, Texas, to face Texas Tech next Wednesday.

I think you may need to reassess what the term "power struggle" means. Is JOs dad the AD or a huge donor or something?
-
wonder what kind of suspension this is?
option 1. Frank says," JO you are the most selfish D.O.B. I have ever met in my life, you need to take a week off and get your head straight."
option 2. JO quits the team after a spat with Frank followed by Frank saying " JO, just take the next week off, we will both calm down and talk this through then." (while praying to God and all that is holy that Jordan doesn't pack his bags)
-
which is more detrimental to the team, JO doing wtf ever he did, or Frank suspending him....yup, that's what i thought.
can the players suspend their dumbass coach?
-
Do you really think Frank cares is JO quits?
-
ask frank, call his radio show and ask him. i'm sure he'll deliver some non sequitur and then ramble on about leadership or some bullshit.

i have a problem believing it because it would mean frank is just a complete Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!). i mean, an absolute, complete mental Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!). if you can't address a guy wanting minutes w/out suspending him and making it a public mess, then you're a complete Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

Maybe he DOB'd Frank at practice when Frank was yelling at somebody on the baseline. Frank didn't appreciate being DOB'd and JO got sassy about it. This scenario seems pretty likely.

BITB just said he heard that JO like the ville more than basketball so Frank told him to enjoy for a week and see what happens... then BITB said he had sources tell him JO was indeed enjoying the ville Saturday night. Lebeo or someone went on about how he thinks if something were leagalized :bigtoke: he'd be with the team.... does KK know what he is talking about? probably not, but there you go :blah: :

When you live in a place with so many fun things to do, you're going to occasionally get guys that lose their focus. It's just something we're going to have to deal with from time to time.

Wow. It'd have to be a 3 game suspension if it was a failed drug test, right?

Yeah, I think the key here is Frank is saying the suspension is from him, he wouldn't claim those failed drug test supensions if he's saying this is only the 2nd he's given in 27 years.

This is 100% correct. What I wonder is what loophole Bosco used to get CK from being booted last season? Bad B sample? Medicinal prescription? I have a pretty good idea of what I think happened but it involves nerdy, sciencey stuff about pee pee that isn't interesting to anyone.

i think bosco just decided that kelly was more important than their rule. :dunno:
it's just a school policy, if they don't choose to apply it, they don't have to explain why or pretend any test was invalid.

Talked to Angel today. He says he thinks JO will be back sometime this week.
He also thinks we should kick Tech's ass. So that's good news! :excited:

I talked to Angel last week, and he said you're full of crap.

Decision to be made after today's practice as to if he travels. Sounds like he's going to, seeing as he's practicing.
Granted, I doubt he plays.

If he plays a full game, I am all in on the over(3). However, if he plays, it will most likely be limited minutes. Frank doesn't play them if they don't practice...

No one is on his balls here, just answering who you would prefer. I would prefer the guy who is doing pretty consistently well in the last game or two over the guy who avg'ed 8min/gm and one suspension in his last three games.
Maybe it's just me.
Not addressing future potential here. Just a snap shot in time.

It seems like there are lots on here criticizing/making fun of frank for "franking" jo...but after listening to frank this morning on 810, i gotta tell you that I love it and everyone should also. He flat out said he would never sacrifice the commitment that he made to his players and their parents (a commitment to "make them a man") simply to win a game. And you know what, he's absolutely proven that. The guy is a flat out stand up guy and I love him for it. blast away.
-
eff that. it's their parents job to "make them a man". i'm so rough ridin' sick of that talking point. frank's job is to win games.
-
"Making them a man" equates more wins.
People don't realize, this has to be a 100% commitment. You can't "make them men" 80% of the time, and then do whatever it takes to win the other 20%. When he is consistent with that, it can't ever be the coach's fault. If a coach beats his players, is a complete dick, but the players know it coming in, logically they cannot complain. But players aren't logical all the time, like Sutton and Judge. Could Frank have done a better job with them individually? Of course, but to the detriment of everyone else. Its there choice to not buy in. Most coaches seem to play to win, save their jobs. Frank coaches to get the best out of his players. Results-oriented thinking is a terrible mindset to have.
Being consistently an bad person doesn't automatically translate into wins (example of player-beating coach). What Frank does well is he knows how to show his soft side at appropriate times. Also, being an bad person while showing a vulnerable side is the key to picking up chicks.

You could also mention that even with the "bad person" persona, and even thru the screaming, suspensions/franking, for the most part, his players respect the hell out of him and credit him with "saving their lives" among other things. Don't forget some of these players don't have father figures/great parents....Frank demands respect and makes his expectations clear. Players in turn respect that and those that buy in become better for it.

I'm sorry that I don't feel the need to post the most ridiculous, assinine negative comments about KSU sports to prevent the likes of assholes like you from calling me a tuck. Again, I apologize. No disrespect intended.

I liked it FT.

I'm not sure if Frank just making these guys into men is gonna do it for me. I want them to be ravenous, emotionally scarred, elite basketball players. Like 5 Mike Tyson's out there, with so much balled up emotion that they puke and cry before and after every game and eat their opponents' children.
-
I am perfectly fine with Frank making men.
Just as long as they want to physically harm their opponents once the whistle blows.
-
eff that. it's their parents job to "make them a man". i'm so rough ridin' sick of that talking point. frank's job is to win games.
yes and no. Ideally yes, the parents would do that. But don't pretend 18 year olds are fully prepared "men". I don't want to pretend they're helpless children some make them out to be, but an 18 year old is not a finished product.
But if the parents failed to raise their kid well, plenty of athletes have had bad upbringings, I think Frank and any coach should be a parental figure that helps the player grow as a person.

jesus christ this make them a man discussion.

Thank you, someone actually able to understand Frank's "men" talking point. This isn't about Frank taking a bunch of inner city bastard children under his wing, for the most part his players don't portray that stereotype. We frequently hear media and tucks comparing Frank's players to the image of Huggins' players at Cincinnati and that just isn't accurate. The "men" talking point is about bringing along 18 year old kids far away from home for the first time and making sure that when they go home to their mothers AND fathers they aren't lazy, disrespectful, sleep until noon, smelly, beer drinking assholes that many boys become after they had some time away.

Yes, this is what any good coach should be doing. Doesn't matter where the kids are from and applies at some level no matter what age they are.

how many normally good message boarders are going to ask, "WHY ISN'T NINO PLAYING!?"

That has just gotten embarrassing, I mean, how hard is it to figure out who is injured and who isn't? Especially on game 3 of being injured...

Watson has had a rough ridin' ginormous elbow brace and it hasn't stopped people from asking about him.

great first post dobber

I wake up every morning and thank my lucky stars I'm not a B getting DO'd.
-
Did he take the time off to get a tat on his left arm?
-
Also the put back dunk even though it didn't count
the look on Jamar's face as he walked to the bench
I'm in love already.

I don't give a eff if he gets run tonight. Just terrible to stand there with the rough ridin' ball waiting for it to get picked. Clear out, call a time out, pass the rough ridin' ball. Option D: stand with the rough ridin' ball. :bang:
-
Should have left him suspended. Clown Shoes Magoo is back, baby.

one of his teammates with slightly above average BBIQ might have called a timeout. Frank was signalling one from the bench. then the rest of you male genitals chuggers in the 'ood' wouldn't boo after he was obviously fouled

That was one of the most glaring examples of the inept refereeing that we have seen this year. No call on the time out, no call on the foul, no call on the re-foul, no call on Franks TO. Simply terrible.

Played a little better? No DOB's, but had a few BOB's :block:
Note the clown shoes on the BOB.
-
Wow, he blocked a tiny deaf kid's shot a couple times. Hangin' banners!

How did you get "Hangin' banners!' from:
"Played a little better? No DOB's, but had a few BOB's :block:
Note the clown shoes on the BOB."?
As far as JO blocking a tiny deaf kid's shot, doesn't the tiny deaf kid qualify as a bitch? If so, then I stand 100% behind my original comment.

No, I like the tiny deaf kid. A guy you can really root for. Def. not a bitch.

Agreed, you mut be a total POS if you have to build yourself up by tearing down a small deaf kid who beat the odds to become a D1 athlete.
-
blah.
-
Anybody who gets their crap blocked is a bitch. To give him a pass because he is tiny and deaf would be :opcat: and would not make tiny deaf kid's parents feel good.
Now, since we have tiny deaf kid for 3 more years, someone create an appropriate emoticony thingy for me. Maybe it could have a word bubble, but without words?
TIA

JO haters bother me almost as much, possibly even more, than Jamar haters.

JO had a nice block on the dunk attempt. he said :nono:
can't remember which red raider was trying to get his dunk on but regardless, JO wasn't hearing it.

I think that one was Tolbert. Watching on TV it looked like a clear lane and an easy DOB, but then, as you said, JO went all BOB and :nono:

So JO himself is a bitch, like, a lot then.

I did say anybody, so yes, if you get your crap blocked, then you are a bitch. If you get dunked on, you are a bitch. Am I wrong? I thought that was always pretty clear. Play like a man, don't be a bitch.

JO's stat line from 2/14/11:
22 mins, 5-7 FG's, 10 pts, 5 rebs, 1 ast, 1 blk
We could really use another performance like that from him tonight.

His stat line hasn't totaled that in his last 3 games, it seems.

glad frank taught him a lesson. :jerk:

He hasn't really seemed to be a huge factor since the Baylor game
The way this team is set up, I think he's valuable when he's playing well(particularly because of his interior D), would be great to see him regain the form he showed in December and early January.
Tonight's as good a night as any.

hmmm, wonder what happened?

He's the only one who had any success guarding T-Rob. I would have Gip body up Withey and try to make him shoot over him. Tay tay needs more minutes since he's been one of our hotter players and I think he may be able to frustrate Taylor. If we can frustrate Taylor and get him to have one of his terrible games (like last year), I think we'll be in good shape
-
Nino had success guarding T-Rob. One of my favorite LOL moments of the season.

He did do well against Robinson, to the point that Bill kept Withey in to make JO guard him instead. One thing we have going for us now that we didn't then: Diaz is playing dece and able to stay on the court for long periods of time. If JO can do what he did last time and we can also have Diaz on the floor, it could make things interesting.
