Dear Athletic Director Taylor,
Looking back on the campaign of 2018, I will always remember the encouragement and support I received throughout this great state. The people of Kansas are special in so many ways. Traveling for two years to every corner of Kansas, I was rewarded with the opportunity to see dozens and dozens of small and large businesses that are the backbone of our state and the communities where they provide good-paying jobs. Whether it is agriculture, banking, aerospace or the service sector, the path to a better life is out there, and with a little help Kansas will grow and prosper.
The election has passed, but there is still much to accomplish. Decisions on burdensome taxes, the quality of our education system, our transportation infrastructure, government intervention in our health care, and reigning in the out-of-control regulations, all while balancing the state budget. The bar for success is high, but hard-working Kansans will have it no other way. Together, we can get it done. From Goodland to Overland Park, from Liberal to Fort Scott, each of our dreams may be different, but at the end of the day they all must be served. We can ill afford to leave any one sector behind, any one part of our state, be it rural or suburban, we are all in the fight to win. This is our Kansas.
I worked hard to be selected to serve the people of Kansas, but as it turns out, that was not to be. The people of Kansas have, however, given me so much more than I could have ever imagined. I now understand their love for the place we all call home. The place we raise our families and live the life our forefathers only dreamed.
I realize that leadership is learned over time and is not given to one at any given moment. We all must pull on the “political” rope from the same end, for that is the successful style of leadership that will win for all Kansans.
I will never forget the many days of travel and handshakes along the way. So many coffee shops and service station snacks — too many to recall them all. My heart goes out to all of those who encouraged me to take part in the political process. I will never forget the state-wide support, and belief that I could get the job done from friends and strangers alike. We will meet again. I will travel the same roads soon. Rest assured, I will not sit idly by while our state is taken down the wrong path. There is a new day coming — a better direction. This state and this country deserve a strong, conservative leader. Until we meet again keep the faith and stay strong. Together we will win.
Best Regards,
