Eurocat, take a swamp tour. Sounds cheesy but I loved it last yr. You get to hold an alligator!!!!!
Also, a surprisingly good restaurant in the Quarter that isn't very expensive is Oceana. They have my favorite gumbo that I had while down there and the other stuff we had there was very good as well. They are just off of Bourbon and Conti(I think). Also, for breakfast, Cafe Fleur De Lis is fantastic. It is just north of Bienville st on Chartres.
Also, we took a cocktail tour. It took like an hour and a half and walks you around to like 5 or 6 bars. Was cool to meet ppl while down there and also really helped get your bearings for the french quarter(if that is where you are going to spend your time).
Also, skip Cafe DuMonde. Sucks. Standard tourist trap.
