Does it seem weird that social security is in this list if income to fund it is specifically siphoned off our paychecks to fund it?  I could see maybe a social security deficit (including administration costs) to be included, but that number must include total payouts?

Just looking forward to tomorrow for the simple fact that budget deficits and national debt will come off their 8 year sabbatical in Just Money Land (great beaches, try the Mojito) and be pressed back into hard labor in the Dem camp, replete with Pelosi press conferences and calls for hearings.

Amen. Nice to know Dems are finally gonna be concerned about deficits again. Welcome back!

That's not even remotely true.

Have a look at what's happened to the percentage of debt to GDP the past 10 years. Quite a legacy. http://www.tradingeconomics.com/united-states/government-debt-to-gdp

It would be a good start just to reverse this trend, and I think that will happen under a Trump economy. But ultimately I'm not gonna be happy if the GOP doesn't put our spending on a trajectory towards a balanced budget.

The nice thing about Dems being such massive hypocrites is that they'll suddenly be on my team when it comes to all sorts of issues! Limiting executive power, states rights, deficits...

You'll still probably eff it up tho. Probably only advocate for higher taxes to fix what is inherently a spending problem, claiming states rights over things like immigration that are clearly within federal authority.... I can dream though. A new day is dawning with wondrous possibilities!

States rights are actually awful.  The actual empirical evidence we have on hand skews much more toward "denying certain classes of people full rights or privileges of citizenship" and is light on the "laboratories of democracy."

The US really aught to be split up into several sovereign nations. I'm moving to Bears.

Well this is truly a first, people gathering at U.S. embassies to protest the U.S. and the president.

Unprecedented (and yeah, Barack was protested early and often on overseas trips, just didn't get much coverage here).

CNS, do you know how much a trillion is? It's 1,000 billions, or 1,000,000 millions. It's more money than pretty much every government in the world collects in a year.

CNS, I can't read a pie chart

I love math lessons from ppl that don't understand the relationship between this big color pie section and that little different color pie section.

Some folks didn't want to deal with the perpetually angry and often violent intolerant left, that was confrontational, setting fires and destroying property.
