The rehabilitation process has begun for Kansas State freshman Bill Walker.

Walker said he started rehabilitation Saturday on his left knee, which required surgery after he suffered a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament Jan. 6 at Texas A&M.

“I’m riding the (stationary) bike and doing quad exercises,” Walker said. “I’m just trying to get my range of motion back.”

The timetable for his rehabilitation is scheduled to last four to six months. Walker still stands by the shorter period.

“Four months — I’m sure I’ll be back,” he said.

    Sniff Sniff. . . I smell Heisman.
I just hope he doesn't rush his recovery, I know how hard it is to rehab from an ACL.

It's good to hear that the rehab is underway but Huggins said it would be July before Bill would be allowed to run in a straight line.  Even if things go very well he may not be fully recovered by the start of next season.

He's done this once, so I don't think he'll rush it. All I care about is him being totally healed so it doesn't damage his career..

yeah, I'm sure he'll be fine by the start of next season, and even though i'm excited about our team this year, I can't wait until:  The Beasley, Hoskins, and Walker show.

I've had ACL's done on both knees so I am somewhat of an authority.  My rehab took longer because I am a layman, but I suspect Walker will be running in a straight line well before July.  Right now, they want him on the stationary bike, doing stretches to get range of motion back, and doing pathetic, weak quad exercises with exercise bands and controlled leg extensions and leg curls.  As the swelling goes away and the leg begins to strengthen, they'll go into wall squats and treadmill walking, followed by treadmill running and then side to side motion stuff and jumping.  I suspect he'll be back ready to start playing by July...but no explosion will be seen for awhile.  Hopefully, it will be back and he'll confidence in the leg by the time the season starts, but it could be next year sometime, or maybe even after, before we start to see the explosion that is Bill Walker again.

Seeing Walker's jumping ability after his first ACL injury sure has me concerned about his ability to recover from this one.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

I don't know that I'd say it is all in the legs.  But I'm sure you weren't speaking literally.  However, you are correct that legs are an important part.

But, if he's simply practicing set shots, which would be a good place to start, that wouldn't require a great deal of explosiveness or extreme range of motion.  If he is doing stationary bike work at this point, it can't be too far in the future that he'd be able to take some shots.

All I'm saying is spot up shooting doesn't require one to run around, cut back and forth, jump above the rim, etc, etc.  It would be a good time to work on the parts of his game that he can, and should.  Unless I am way off, I believe C-Mart made big strides in his perimeter game while limited with an injury (ankle I think).

Does anyone know if the hydrotherapy area that was plugged incessantly on the Jumbotron prior to the renovation of Vanier is fully operational?  If so, it's a plus for BW's rehab.
