Can't find link, but there was rumbling in the Kansas City Star that Mizzou would seriously entertain an invitation to join the Big 10.  The program is upset that the Big 12 could not do more to keep them in the Insight Bowl, and are hacked that they are going to Texas Bowl.  And from their standpoint, not getting the Orange Bowl in 2007 was a genuine insult, and the Big 12 didn't do anything to ku for Lew Perkins maneuvering to steal the bowl bid from Mizzou.

Now I ran across an ESPN article from their Big 10 beat writer, talking about expansion.  No mention of Mizzou was made specifically (Notre Dame only team mentioned).  Big 10 has smarter TV and revenue sharing agreements among conference members--would that be attractive to Mizzou?  See:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=4735336

Thoughts on the dynamics of such a switch if it were to take place?

Mizzou would be a really good addition to the big 10 IMO.  Solid bball/fb combo.  not a geographic stretch by any means, large number of tv's between KC/StL.

If I were them I'd be ticked off too.

Would love to get rid of MU.  Plus, since their rival is IL, it would add that much more intrigue to the B10.

I think a Cincy or Pitt moving to the Big 10 is more likely...

Goddamn those tards are hilarious. They actually think they'd bring more fans to a bowl than Iowa State

I agree that Mizzou isn't getting the best play on bowl bids, etc., what do you expect when you hire Gary Forsee as President...

They have been talking off and on about going to the Big 10 for many years.

All I can say is don't let the door hit you on the way out.   :buh-bye:

Oh and Mrs. cyclist is a Mizzou alumna.  She thinks going to the Big 10 is  :AzCatBS: as well.

I love the smell of peat in the evening.  That smell, you know that earthy smell...  Smells like...whisky !

They never win anything significant at either, and their academics aren't strong enough.

Notre Dame? Wouldn't we need a North team since Mizzou is/was in the North?

NO one in the big 12 is going to win anything significant as long as Texas and OU have Brown/Stoops.

and LMAO at any ku fan downplaying mizzou academics.  Don't be an acaademic homer for ku lol

Monsters.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Totally disregarding that ku outranked Missouri in U.S. World and News Report's study  ;) ...

I don't think that ku has the academics to be in the Big 10 either. But even if you don't believe ku is a better school, that doesn't mean that Missouri has the academics for the Big 10.

And MU hasn't ever made a Final Four, and hasn't been to a BCS level game since 1969.

So I reiterate. They (nor ku, if that makes you happy) don't have the academics to be in the Big 10. Nor do they have a winning pedigree in, well, anything.

Getting rid of NU would be fantastic.  We'd never, ever, hear another word about that garbage school in the KC media again.  It would be as if they never existed.

I'd say Bon Voyage if this were true. Lose MU, add tcu. Then do some sort of East/West or 4 pod realignment...it'd be bad ass.

Now that's how you get out a f***ing blood stain.

that's the reason they want to leave dumbfvk.  cuz they got screwed out of BCS when you backed into it in 07.  as members of the big 10 they wouldn't get bent over in the same situation.

edit: plus the big 10 doesn't care whether or not they have a winning pedigree.  they want $/tv sets

You better hope to hell we get Patterson prior to tcu coming aboard with the B12 in this scenario.

That would be so schadenfreude amazing. I may preemptively seek out and befriend some tcu fans just in case this happens so I can fully enjoy it.

They continually get "screwed" out of bowl games because they have poor fan support, and the ones who do show up make asses out of themselves. Yet another great attribute to bring to the Big 10.

When bowls would rather have ku (bad fan support) and Iowa State (good, not outstanding fan support) than your school, it's time to realize that the conference might not be the problem ... dumbfvk.

US News & World Report is a pr competition, not a genuine or meanigful evaluation of a school's academic quality.  People that know what they're talking about ALWAYS rank a specific program major (engineering, accounting, primary education, etc.), not the university.  ku doesn't stand out when viewed from that standpoint, but the brainless students and supporters don't understand meaningful academic evaluation, and will spout this line at any opportunity.  All it does is brand them as lacking knowledge of evaluating academic excellence.  FWIW, my K-State program major was in the top 15 schools nationally, ku was not even in the top 100, even though my ku colleagues were certain they graduated from an Ivy League equivalent.  Too funny.

tcu in the South and move OSU to the North. Gundy would see it as a great way to reach the Big XII Championship game.
