Why is the simplest explanation not be the correct one.
What are we explaining? Are we explaining why Snyder, when asked, suggested that a return to coaching is a possibility? If so, then the simplest explanation is that he suggested it because it's the truth.
Snyder is 67 years old. He is retired. He told us he retired to spend time with his kids. He has his name on our stadium. He had a job when he retired. None of these major facts lead me to believe that he will seek another job.
I think you mean to say that all of those major facts lead you to believe that he will not seek another job. In any case, I am of the belief that Snyder was aware of all of this when he suggested that a return to coaching was possible. And if he doesn't now perceive any of them to be immediate obstacles, they probably won't be issues for him down the road either.
It is speculation to even come to the conclusion that he was "forced out" which is really the basis for any other theories.
We'll just assume for the sake of argument that he has merely had a change of heart. Problem solved.
I think it is just kooky to buy into some grandiose theory about Snyder leaving for another program to coach for what, 5 more years? To prove what? Even if he has the motivation, he has to realize that starting over again (even at a Miami) is going to take a 5 year commit on his part. What program would want a 67 yr. old coach?
There doesn't necessarily need to be a grandiose theory (see above and below). I doubt Snyder's reasons for coaching ever included proving something. As with the other items above, I believe he was aware that he would not be coaching for an extended period of time when he suggested that a return was a possibility. I imagine that at least one of the programs that has contacted Snyder wants a 67 year old coach.
There are alot of questions, I think you should answer them in support of your theory, I'm betting on the status quo.
My theory is merely that Snyder will seriously consider offers. Given the assumption that when a coach says he might be interested, he is actually seriously interested, it seems that Snyder will be seriously considering offers. Instances supporting this assumption are common place...status quo, if you like. Once you accept the proposition that Snyder will seriously consider offers, you're really not very far at all from also acknowledging that there is a decent possibility that he will coach again. This conflicts with your claim.
