I mean logically, does it make sense?

He is 66.  He left a job where he was paid handsomely in money, perks and worship.  He stated that he wanted to spend more time with his family.  The stadium is named after him and his family.  He is fawned over by everyone across the state whenever he hawks another of his dreadful books.

How long could he reasonably/comfortably coach?  5 years?  10 years?  Why would he?  What would motivate him?

If we are to believe that he was/is anything close to honest with us, then he would have us believe that he wanted to spend more time with his family.  His wife, I assume, would be none too pleased with this decision.  K-State started an Equestrian program for his daughter for chrissakes.  He has to hang around!

I agree that it would be fun to see Snyder make a comeback.  I agree that it would be a joy to see him on Sundays doing x's and o's with some NFL offense.

But it really doesn't make any &^@@ing sense.......At all.

So really.  Just file this under "Nick Van Exel to Asst. Coach Cats!"

That is all.

I'm going to keep posting this:

It makes sense if it isn't a rebuilding job.

It doesn't make sense if it's a rebuilding job.

Actually, it doesn't really make sense at all.

Did you read any of my tremendous, painstaking analysis??

Love of the job.  Older highly successful people are usually very driven and can't stand to simply stop and retire.  I'd actually be surprised if he doesn't coach again somewhere.

Ok, it makes a little sense if he goes to a place like Iowa.  It makes no sense if he goes to a place like Michigan State.

What AZCat said.  Successful old people have a really tough time hanging it up.  I'm half-suprised Snyder hasn't had a heart attack yet.

Norm:  no one wanted
Lavell:  no one wanted
Red:  stayed in a competitive role (GM->Pres) until he died (Saturday :frown:).
Wooden:  He knew he couldn't win without cheating.

Does anyone really think that people just all of the sudden, out of nowhere discover about themselves that they are ready to retire and then are extremely emotional about their decision?

Why does everyone beleive that the reason he quit would have been one big lie if he goes back.  Are people not allowed to miss something?  It's not about proving anything to anyone... It's about a 66 year old man that has spent the last 30 years of his life working 18 hour days doing one and one thing alone.  Coaching football.  He went from that....   To doing nothing.  He's freik'n bored; and he's second guessing his decision to retire.  If he wants to coach somewhere else... fine.  He's not a traitor, he doesn't hate KSU, he just couldn't quit cold turkey.  Not many people can leave something they love that much and quit cold turkey.  Give the man a break.

Further more... this topic is getting annoying.  Who cares. What he did for us was spectacular and nothing he does in the future can change that.

Actually, taking the cue from Huggins, Snyder has put together "Purple" and "White" coaching staffs between himself and Prince.  They will each coach alternating years, then "retire" and recruit full time for a year, and be "rehired" in alternating fashion.

I think the reasons he gave for wanting to retire were a big lie.  I'll think this regardless of whether or not he returns to coaching.

Kietzman is nuts.  If he comes back to coaching it will be at a bare minimum as a Head Coach of a BCS school.

Some interesting items just dropped via WIBW. Apparently Snyder is asking a number of current college assistants if they would accompany him if he did take a job somewhere.

If he steals any of our assistants we'll need a new name for the stadium.

    Fear the Brick
The man took the worst job in America when everyone was saying he was an f'ing idiot for doing so and that it would absolutely ruin his coaching career; I wouldn't put it past him to take another job.
