    The very best.
Look, say what you want about the hiring of Ron Prince, but to say Tim Weiser had to be convinced Bob Huggins is the farthest thing from the truth. Huggs was his choice from the moment he made the decision in Dallas on HCJW and he waited exactly the two-week window he was required to wait by the school's hiring standards to announce Huggs. No one convinced Weiser that Huggs was the man. He made the call and Fogler did his job in making it happen. Weiser then convinced others, most notably a certain school president, that Huggs was the right choice. To say it was an easy choice is to entirely ignore that folks at the time thought Huggs couldn't be touched by a school unless it wanted a giant black eye or that Weiser "didn't have the balls to hire him" as many people wrote on this board.

So bag on the Prince hiring if you want, but don't make up facts on the Huggins hiring to support your argument.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

“He was not on my radar screen,” Wefald said of Kansas State’s coaching search that began the first week of March. “He was not on Tim Weiser’s radar screen. But that’s the way life is, isn’t it?

http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060323/SPT01/303230004/1062/SPT

"Weiser admitted he did call the NCAA six or seven times because he was concerned about Huggins' past. He also said Huggins wasn't initially on K-State's radar screen until search consultant and former coach Eddie Fogler convinced him to keep an open mind."

this link sucks, but i got a dead end on the original article.

"The topic was the hiring of Bob Huggins as the university's men's basketball coach, and the thought wasn't embraced by either man.
"I was like, 'Whoa,' " Weiser said.  But the idea stuck, thanks in part to former Wichita State coach Eddie Fogler, who sensed this could work."

same deal here.  the link is even worse.

nothing more than PR. Huggins was Weiser's #1 guy.

Honestly, its more fun to hate ADTW than aknowledge that he made an f-ing brilliant hire. That is why I refuse to believe that he was dead set on Huggs. In fact, I heard Hugs sought him out and practically begged to coach here.

No kidding.  Our AD might have made the "final call" but it practically had to be forced down his throat for him to even consider Huggins.  This was Eddie Fogler's doing; nobody else.  I wish I could find the article where Weiser talks about the hiring of coaches and how when he was a younger AD he let the interview dictate too much the decision to hire a coach; he basically states that he learned not to put too much stock into an interview, which would seem to be contrary to the hiring process of Ron Prince.

I have a feeling that Ron Prince was more UPJW and less ADTW.

Though, don't forget the great Bill Snyder was sold on Prince after meeting with him

I'm skeptical of that. Its not as if Snyder could meet with him and then tell the Kstate fan world that they hired the wrong guy whether he believed it or not.
I'm telling you, this is not ANYTHING like the team from the beginning of conference play. You will see no more blowouts like what happened in OOC.  If we lose, it will not because these kids gave up, and it will be at the buzzer. -Rodless, before 97-70

"Sold" isn't the right word.  Neither is "pissed."  It was somewhere in between the two.
