UPDATE: Maymon decision coming tomorrow

By: Curtis Kitchen, 810whb.com senior writer

UPDATE: Though a report surfaced late Wednesday that Jeronne Maymon had decided to make his way to Tennessee over Kansas State and others, his father denied it.

"You know something I don't," Tim Maymon said via text mesage. "You will know something tomorrow."

Check back regularly for future updates.

has K-State even offered Maymon?

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Now that's how you get out a f***ing blood stain.

reading the kitchen's commentary on Maymon waiting to hear from KSU's coaching staff it doesn't seem so.
When I was a kid growing up in the projects, I used to dream of going into space, of escaping the slums, of killing an Ewok!

thx mcmwcat, didn't want to read too much into it.  thought maybe they were waiting for some transcript stuff or something.

gpc poster informs that kstate is recruiting tony smith.  good to hear, he's a guy that makes perfect sense.

there was a thread on ouhoops about him a couple days back.  some good info.

http://ouhoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12342

also his seward county profile.

yep, nothing frank loves more than 6-5 guards w/ decent handles and poor jump shots.  (FWIW, I've stopped looking at this as a nancy neg).

Quote
Tony Smith, SG/PG, Seward County- Based on what we saw during the Jayhawk Shootout, the 6-foot-4 combo guard from Greenville, N.C. gets our vote as best prospect at the event. A tall ball handler, he’s an exceptional passer who can also give you some scoring punch. Plays both ends and gets to the free throw line

I only put in in the 2011 thread because in this article he mentioned he might go to prep schoole another year to raise his stock.  I guess with these suposed offers he might come out in 2010, because it dosent sound like a grade issue.

the best thing for him would be to go somewhere far enough away that he could leave his mistakes behind him...  if he went to kstate or uk he'd get himself into real trouble and never really contribute.

And Pullen wasn't really a point guard - Frank made him servicable as one. I think his size is a problem more than anything

    The very best.
OT: I sure hope recruiting is going well. I love my fav team being awesome at bball, and hope it continues.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Sans Denis, do you think Frank would have played Pullen primarily at the point or used someone else?  I think he does fine at the point, but I do like him at the 2 better.

Just curious if you think Pullen would have been a full time PG if we didn't have Denis to play there.  Seems like whether or not he played the 1 or 2 would make a difference.  :dunno:

Scout.com's Eric Bossi on Rico:

"I've known Rico since he was between the 8th and 9th grade and have been watching him play forever. He had a chance to go down as one of the most decorated, if not the most, decorated Kansas high school player of all time. He had his mis-steps at home and I'm glad to see him getting his life back in order. He's always been a wonderful kid to be around but has found himself around trouble and unable to resist saying no. I do believe that around good people he will be fine. I love the kid to death.

What is interesting is that at his old high school and during summer ball he has played almost exclusively off the ball as a shooting guard. Excellent shooter who hits lots of big shots. Relatively strong kid but not a particularly great athlete. He's certainly not one of those little guards who plays above the rim. If he's really playing as a full time point guard now, that's a pretty significant development in his game.

Had no offers before leaving Topeka. I know KSU is interested, but I do not believe that they have actually offered yet. I've been getting lots of calls from college coaches looking to dig into his background."

Fairly recent update about Rico linked below, no mention of the Cats

KSUfans.com will become the #1 Kstate sports BBS!
Will Spradling will be playing here in Emporia tomorrow at 4:45, so I should have a write up following the game. Hope to have an update on how he did, and hope to get a few minutes with him after the game. Will let you all know a little bit later.
"I don't know if I will be able to knock out as many teeth as big Lu, but I hope to pick up on the scoring and rebounding aspects." Wally Judge talking about being a biig of the future for KSU!
