How often does a guy who decommits from a school re-commit to the same school?  I say never.  Best to just move on imo.

Besides this duder - who else is KSU seriously looking at and has a good chance at landing? Did this guy just screw the '10 class plans up completely or were there other options/plans that frank and hill were after anyways?

Frank Williams, Khyle Marshall

lol, those guys are 4 stars.  2010 recruiting is officially Spradling plus the Buchi Gilberts of the world.

:flush:

I'm intrigued by this Trops kid.  I mean, Art really seems to think the kid is pretty good :dunno:

(all jokes aside I'm actually intrigued)

yeah, guess I should have said we are only recruiting buchi gilberts and under the radar "tropics"

I'm certainly not the most knowledgeable recruiting guy, but it looks like we only have 2 open schollies for '10.  We lose Clemente and Colon, and we have Spradling committed and look to be the strong favorite for the Asprilla transfer.  Seems like a Asprilla for Mitchell trade seems fairly even.   :dunno:
If Peterson does not make it this year (which seems probable) we will have 3 slots to fill. Hopefully one of them will be Asprilla this year.
Did you forget Energy?  And besides Asprilla would take up a scholarship the year he comes so We would not lose it for 10'  Also we have no idea is Asprilla will get released.  And Never get a scholarship count based on graduating seniors.

I count 14 dudes on the roster, with Werner and OJ being walk-ons.  That would still leave one open schollie for DPete or Asprilla.  But, the majority of things that I have read/heard recently point to Asprilla not being released from his schollie at all and playing a year at a juco before joining us for '10.  Kinda sucks that the coaches aren't allowed to comment on either player until he actually signs, it would be nice to know how Frank and Co. think things will shake out for DPete/Asprilla.

Dpete coming this year and Asprilla the year after would be amazing!    Jmart said something to the effect of Asprilla being able to go to Juco for a year while not playing and then coming here for three years.  I kind of thought he had to be on scholarship at the school he intended to play for, but that would be ideal.  But if he does get released he'd be on our count.  I just hope Dpete is doing some homework while he camps out on Pullen's couch.

Somehow through the use of the quote functionality my name got connected to somebody else's words so I am not sure to whom your post was directed, but I will respond.

Maybe I am just confused as to what you are saying, but if Asprilla gets a scholarship beginning this upcoming school year, in all likelihood he will have a scholarship in 2010 thus leaving (I believe) two scholarships for 2010, one of which is Spradling's. Obviously this assumes nobody leaves, which is not a given. And, yes, I am assuming Merriwether will not be on a basketball scholarship, which could be incorrect.

Whether or not Asprilla will get a scholarship seems still up in the air. It is my understanding he can appeal within FIU above the head coach. If that fails he can appeal to the NCAA.  If he fails all those, yes, junior college seems the likely alternative.

It appears that quite a few of us have totally forgotten how to properly use the quote function in this thread, myself included.  I wasn't really responding to anybody in particular, more just to the posts above my own in general.  I keep hearing rumors about Energy being awarded an academic schollie at some point, but I'm not sure if that will ever actually happen.  I would be extremely surprised to not see him on any sort of schollie at all next year.  I just don't see Frank rewarding him for his hard work and then taking it away.  Unless, of course, that we just happened to have an extra one available, and Frank decided to reward Chris for a season.  I guess that seems fairly logical. :dunno:   And I think it's basically anybody's guess how the Asprilla situation plays out.  I just hope it plays out soon.

I think the Energy back on an academic scholarship was more wishful thinking than a concrete rumor.

I work for Johnson County Park and Recreation, which includes the county's sporting fieldhouses and sports domes.  There is a tourney/free play going on at Okun Fieldhouse that started today and ends Sunday.  My boss called me this afternoon to tell me that he'd just seen Frank leaving the facility (said he saw Tom Izzo there too, fwiw) but didn't see who or what team he had been watching.  Anybody hear anything about this?  I'll be able to get a lot more information tomorrow.

martin was seen watching the mokan 15s.

imo, the fact that martin is in kc for the hcc while there are mega events going on in vegas and orlando suggests that either he's kinda lazy, or that the staff is really efforting with spiece mokan.

And lots of head coaches were in KC...big names, too.  Sure, they were there mostly for Teague, but still.

Quality source; Merr back on academic next year.  IMO the signs point to the staff believing Peterson and Asprilla will be here this fall.  We'll see what happens.

i can't believe mitchell actually is blowing up over the summer.  i would have bet against it pretty heavily after he did absolutely nothing in the spring season.

Nino Williams, SF, Spiece MoKan- Word among coaches was that the physical small forward was balling a week ago in Miami. He kept up the effort while defending his home turf on Wednesday. Aggressive and strong at the rim, he’s got a great motor and is starting to look a lot more confident pulling up for mid-range jumpers or the occasional three pointer...   Frank Williams of Spiece MoKan made the most of his appearance at the LeBron Skills Academy. He’s sporting offers from Minnesota, Santa Clara, Oral Roberts and Murray State. Kansas State, Missouri and Michigan State are all keeping tabs as well...  Some of the head coaches in the building were Thad Matta, Frank Martin, Sean Miller, Todd Lickliter, Matt Doherty, Chris Lowery, John Beilein, Rick Pitino and Doug Wojcik.
