That sentence doesn't make sense. Is the Little Apple where those teams make sense? To avoid confusion from the previous sentence's context, where (not a good preposition at any rate) probably should be although. Should there be a question mark at the end of the sentence, meaning the first four teams make sense but the last two don't. But it really reads as though the whole sentence is a introductory clause to something else, such as " . . . or a Cardinal, being a Jayhawk is just gay."
