Did Central Mich have any fans?  I think I saw a lineman's mother for SJSU but aside from that no fans.

LOL @ taking ku's numbers for fact. I thought it was pretty well known that ku inflated their numbers. I'll let Dax pull up the numbers or whatever the hell he does. Also, the numbers K-State releases are paid attendance.

And how many Riley soldiers were there?  Wouldn't they be free admittance?

wow...stunning numbers from a program that's never been known to misstate attendance numbers.

You can subtract at least one of those ticket counts for ku,  My boss brought her 6 month old baby and had to buy a ticket.

my ku buds (100+) keep telling me ku inflates the #.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

This is 2007... Al Bohl has been gone for a while.  Lew Perkins doesn't inflate attendance numbers, and from a person who was at the game, there was every bit of 46,000+ there.  Nice attempt at excuses though... for such great football fans, I figured K-State could get more than 45,000 on opening weekend.

Again...you're questioning our fans when you've left your game at halftime not once but twice now. Completely comical.

That corner where opposing fans sit was all that I saw that was sparse.  The student section was jam packed.

Yep.

Of course, K-state has a nice streak going of outshowing ku if they have a home game on the same day.  I don't know exactly how long the streak is, someone on GPC was talking about it this morning.  But it's not surprising at all.

This is of course why you'll notice BMW was bragging Central Michigan(Labor Day weekend) instead of their attendance against directional school #2.  When comparing attendance from KSU vs SJSU and ku vs Louisiana School for the Blind, K-state outdrew ku by a few thousand.  That doesn't include the hundreds of Ft Riley soldiers who attended the game for free.

Even more pathetic when given the amount of alumni living within a half an hour drive of Lawrence, not only due to the fact that Lew inflates the numbers severely, but also charges infants for seats.  :violin:

It's pathetic how horrible ku fans are.  I bet 50%+ didn't even know the name of the team they were playing on Saturday until they got to the game.

I do agree KSU should be selling more than 45k.  Quoting 1,000 more fans as proof of better fans is comical.  Especially when one of them finds it more important to rush home on a Saturday night and post on the opposition's message board before the game is even over.

Look at the facts- We played a team from the West coast who would have trouble bringing fans anywhere outside California. I'm sure Central Michigan could bring more than 1 row to Lawrence. Secondly, if they would've let the people on the hill outside the stadium next to the student section sit in the corner where opposing fans should've been, we would've been close, not counting the Fort Riley boys. Regardless of how many, we shouldn't even bother arguing- Plain and simple, I think we all know 45,000 purple are worth more in those stands than 100,000 blue and red.

Attended both Aggieville Riots in the 1980s.
Interesting how less people showed up in Lawrence a week later. 43,914
Maybe the fans don't like cupcakes

You can't expect the younger crowd to sit and watch some crummy HS bands at halftime.

Actual crowd against the awful FBS team:

So you're telling me that attendance INCLUDES hundreds of high school band kids?

Don't have any other shots. It wasn't empty over there though. There were definitely fewer people at the SE LA game than reported. No question. But it wasn't anything like the picture posted above. The halftime experience in Memorital is less than stellar, so almost everyone on the East side leaves their seats until the 3rd quarter.

But the CMU game was crowded. I really doubt the numbers were inflated for that game. People were expecting an exciting game against an All-MAC QB.

Half the people on this thread don't even realize that we're comparing opening weekend attendance.  Of course ku wasn't going to have as many fans show up for a D-1AA opponent.  The fact remains that ku had better attendance on opening weekend than K-State.  Make all the excuses you want.

That's a false statement.  ku hasn't inflated attendance numbers since Al Bohl was AD.  Like I said, make all the excuses you want.

I also wanna see ku take 5,000+ to their first road game. I drove to Auburn all through the night, and only slept 3 out of 28 hours just to see my team.

I can't believe you gals are arguing over 1,000 people.  Makes me laugh.  On the other hand, we just had our 283rd consecutive sellout while each of you are at a whopping 0.

Out.
