So when you go to a bowl one year, but then not the next year, that is called "improving" at ku??

If it's "improving" so much, why is your coach in a position where he needs to score all kinds of style points, run through cupcakes and get 7 wins or better to keep his job??

Again, why can't ku fans seem to grasp that your previous coach played three times as many games against ranked Big 12 North (and twice as many games against ranked teams total) opponents than your current coach has??

Not everything's black and white.  ku was an improved team last season, they just didn't finish games.  The secondary was the main problem most of the season.  You can deny the improvement and make arguments for Terry Allen all you want.

The improvement hasn't just been a product of Mangino.  The entire fanbase has had an active role in improving the football program.  The football facilities are just one example of how the football program is improving despite the on-field results.  The attendance has also improved.

Mangino's on the hotseat because of his inability to get ku over the hump.  We've been a competitive team that can win 6-7 games on a regular basis for the last few years, and now the fans want to see ku take the next step.  If Mangino can't win at least 7 games with this schedule, then it's time to find a coach that can.

That being said, this is Mangino's best team since he's been here at ku.  You can either take my word for it or find out for yourself on Oct. 6th when ku plays K-State.

So the improvement has been all but winning.

K-State Football . . . the standard by which ku football measures itself.

The football program is improving each and every year,

2003 (3-5 conference record...Tangerine Bowl (pisspounded by NCState) (key win....can't remember)
2004 (3-5 conference record...no bowl) (key win=beat crapty Kstate team at home)
2005 (3-5 conference record...Ft. Worth Bowl) (key win crapty Nebraska team at home)
2006 (3-5 conference record...NO BOWL LOL!!! ) (key win=beat Kstate at home in their "bowl")

Yeap..improving each an every year.

Mabye Mangino can bring five wins to Lawrence with another directional.

You keep looking at only wins and losses.  That's fine.  I'm talking about overall football program improvement.

The improvement has been all but winning games on the road.  ku has taken care of business against our rivals over the last few years and we've been pretty tough to beat at home.

ku wants to be the best Big 12 North team and that starts by beating rivals Mizzou and K-State.  ku took another step last season when they went out and dominated Iowa State on the road.  That hadn't been done in the past, even against crap teams.  Right now I don't see a big talent gap between ku and Nebraska like there was in the past.  Colorado is still recovering from a coaching change.  The Big 12 North is wide open right now and I don't see any team that has looked better than ku so far.

Yet when it was all said and done, yet another losing conference record and no bowl game . . . no signficant movement by ku over 6 years during a time frame when the Big 12 North is a shadow of is former self.  Mangino's conference record 11-29.

Oh wait, it's not about winning and losing, nobody is improving their facilities, only ku, nobody else is spending more money on football only ku.

I can handle losing a game or two to ku, but if I have to watch them in a CCG I think I might puke.

The Big 12 North is a shadow of its former self because of the drop-off by K-State and Nebraska.  ku has been consistenty bad up until '03 when we showed some signs of life and in my opinion, ku has gradually improved ever since.

While your point that all Big 12 teams are improving their facilities, that doesn't diminish the fact that ku is taking a big step in the right direction.

Again, no real significant movement by ku in the Big 12 North after 6 years under Mangino, despite how bad the North has been for the past 3 years.   But I keep forgetting, it's not about wins and losses.

Nothing in the big picture of CFB is about wins and losses.  Just ask Notre Dame and Michigan.

I liked BMW's "getting us over the hump" comment...the definition of "hump" is largely known as a loose one at best.  Pinkle would be described by most as a coach unable to get his team over the proverbial "hump".   Mangino? Not even close (except in facilities and moral victories).

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Who's to say infants and toddlers don't enjoy the game too?  They're humans they have eyes.  Besides who wouldn't want to get into Memorial?  Paying for admittance to a game is a privilege.  Oh, and I'm gay.

or ku has gotten no better, the top of the Big 12 (KSU and NU as admitted by you) just got worse than they were.  Winning road games would be a sign of getting better...not beating teams that are simply getting worse.

Does Memorial have turnstiles or scanned tickets yet?  I can't remember if they did last year....I know in the past they didn't...if not, how can you put in faith in the numbers they announce?

Is it really that slow today, that we are arguing with ku fans over attendance?  C'mon, Lawrence hasn't seen good football for years(except when KSU came to town.)  They win one worthless game against a worthless team and they come running.  All it will take is another embarressing loss, you know its coming ku, and the fans will retreat back to their homes and grumble "only a few more weeks till basketball."

They are a fickle fan-base, that had one game where attendance may have been better than KSU and they think means something.  :jerkoff:

After watching both teams play, K-State will not score 28 points against ku's defense, and K-State's defense will not hold ku's offense to 10 points.  You are simply delusional if you think otherwise.

You watched all four games played??? McFly is that you?

Central Michigan is currently the 110th rated defense in D1 college football, SEL currently 98th in total defense in FCS aka D1AA.

The ksu fans should be ashamed.  Quit making sh1tty excuses.  We have a lot of fickle fans that are used to winning and not coming to these non-con games.  Hell, we couldn't even sell out the USC game. We flat out didn't get as many people in our stadium as ku.  Get over it.  KSU fans can make excuses till their blue in the face, but we just flat out look like crap.  Give it up.  :ksu:

Is this a serious debate?  Who cares.  This is one of the stupidest threads I've read.  Both teams have bandwagon fans.  When ku was terrible no one showed up for football.  Before Ksu had huggins no one went to basketball games.  When my mom went to Ksu they went to the games for free and could bring coolers in.  The only true fans are Chiefs fans.  They continue to sell out even though they suck.

Well BMDubya' you basically said it yourself, but seem to lack comprehension skills enough to interpret your own drivel.  Mangino's "success" is a product of a KSU, Nubb and CU fall off, not some great turnaround on ku's part.  If you haved dilusions of this team (or last year's team) competing with any of the great teams that Allen had to face every year (and Mangino faced in his early years) you're fooling yourself.

Need some perspective?  The 40ish year streak vs. NU was broken over a 5-7 NU team.  Easily the worst NU team in half a century.  Congrats!  Allen had the disadvantage of matching up against a Nubb team that lost a TOTAL of 9 games in Allen's entire 5 years at ku.  Against KSU your "amazing resurgence" came against a 4-7 KSU team and an average by KSU standards 7-5 team.  In Allen's 5 years KSU lost a TOTAL of 11 games.    Mangino would have gotten POUNDED by those teams as did Allen.  Timing is everything and Mangino has been fortunate.

The chiefs have lost a LOT of fans in the last two years.  In fact, they are scraping around the bottom of the barrel to continue their 'sell-out' streak this year.  There is no 5k person wait list like there was during marty ball.  This is fact.

Actually there still is a waiting list, it's just for lower level tickets.  It's pretty impressive the Chiefs have still been able to sell out the 3rd biggest stadium in the NFL in one of the smaller markets.
