I can't believe you gals are arguing over 1,000 people.  Makes me laugh.  On the other hand, we just had our 283rd consecutive sellout while each of you are at a whopping 0.

Out.

And who is "we"

That's a false statement.  ku hasn't inflated attendance numbers since Al Bohl was AD.  Like I said, make all the excuses you want.
So, are you saying every single home basketball game has had exactly 16,300 people show up the last few years?

KSU should be able to fill our stadium, but our fans are pretty crapppy, imo.  We're another 4-8, 5-7 season away from having sub 40K attendance at games.

ku attendance vs. Central Michigan: 46,000+

K-State attendance vs. SJSU: 45,000

On to what really matters in college football:

Avg Game 1 Revenue:
ku: 46K X $40/Ticket* =  $1.84 Million
KSU: 45K X $50/Ticket* = $2.25 Million

KSU 22% Higher...Spin away ku fans.

Then why does an infant need a ticket?

The fact remains that ku had better attendance on opening weekend than K-State.  Make all the excuses you want.

We didn't have a home game opening weekend.

Half the people on this thread don't even realize that we're comparing opening weekend attendance.  Of course ku wasn't going to have as many fans show up for a D-1AA opponent.  The fact remains that ku had better attendance on opening weekend than K-State.  Make all the excuses you want.

I have a friend (KSU alum) who is now at ku Med in KC....he said that they give out free ku football tickets at the clinic in KC.  I have another friend (KSU student) who's sister goes to ku and he (the ksu student) can get free tickets through his sister, in fact his whole family was given tickets for the opening game.

KSU doesn't give tickets away to fill the stadium.

I also saw at least 30 or so babies at the KSU game that would have counted towards attendance #'s had ku been keeping track of our #'s....

Seriously, why has no ku fan responded to this while still touting your attendance #'s?

 :billypopcorn:

A couple games may only have 15,000, which is announced in actual attendance, but not in the number of tickets sold.  Every game at Allen Fieldhouse is a sellout.

The sellout # is the one printed in the stats.  To compare apples to apples the numbers either need to be tickets dispersed (sold + given free or at reduced rate + children < 2 for KSU) or the # of people that walked through gate.  KSU uses gate #'s and ku uses tickets dispersed.  You can at least add 1 to KSU's # as my 2 yr old would count in ku's #'s.  I saw 5 other children under two within 5 rows below us in the N endzone.  I guess Lew found a way to increase tickets dispersed by sticking it to young parents.

ku says there are 16,300 at every basketball game, even though there isn't.   People like Hoax make a big deal out of KSU, when KSU actually tells you how many tickets were sold and how many people showed up.

In FY 2006, KSU had $7 million more in football revenue than did ku, but KSU only averaged about 2,000 or more per game than did ku.

A couple of things to chew on.....

When the Hawks were supposedly going to become the team in the state of Kansas (1995), they got hammered by the Cats. Your team was ranked #6 in the nation and I saw many of your "fans" leaving the game after halftime. A reminder of the final - #14 KSU 41 #6 ku 7.

Therefore, as mentioned earlier in the thread, one ku fan does not equal one KSU fan in terms of loyalty and support. You are too busy worrying about how your hoops squad recently choked in (insert any NCAA tourney in the last decade).

The bottom line is, attendance figures really do not matter, we will kill you on Oct. 6th.

Prediction - Cats 28 Hawks 10

It shouldn't be surprising that ku is drawing more fans for football than K-State.

KSU is a basketball school.

Even though ku was ranked #6 in '95 and finished 10-2, the athletic department made no attempt to build on that success and promote the football program.  Basketball was king and Roy Williams practically ran the entire athletic department.

This is 2007, and ku is no longer solely focused on men's basketball.  The football program is improving each and every year, and ku has beaten K-State 2 out of the last 3 years.  Once ku's football complex is completed, it will finally be a level playing field.

After watching both teams play, K-State will not score 28 points against ku's defense, and K-State's defense will not hold ku's offense to 10 points.  You are simply delusional if you think otherwise.

So when you go to a bowl one year, but then not the next year, that is called "improving" at ku??

If it's "improving" so much, why is your coach in a position where he needs to score all kinds of style points, run through cupcakes and get 7 wins or better to keep his job??

Again, why can't ku fans seem to grasp that your previous coach played three times as many games against ranked Big 12 North (and twice as many games against ranked teams total) opponents than your current coach has??

Because he is super fat and it is extremely embarrassing to the image obsessed Jayhawk fan base.  Also, he doesn't wear nearly enough argyle patterns.

Not everything's black and white.  ku was an improved team last season, they just didn't finish games.  The secondary was the main problem most of the season.  You can deny the improvement and make arguments for Terry Allen all you want.

The improvement hasn't just been a product of Mangino.  The entire fanbase has had an active role in improving the football program.  The football facilities are just one example of how the football program is improving despite the on-field results.  The attendance has also improved.

Mangino's on the hotseat because of his inability to get ku over the hump.  We've been a competitive team that can win 6-7 games on a regular basis for the last few years, and now the fans want to see ku take the next step.  If Mangino can't win at least 7 games with this schedule, then it's time to find a coach that can.

That being said, this is Mangino's best team since he's been here at ku.  You can either take my word for it or find out for yourself on Oct. 6th when ku plays K-State.

ku has beaten K-State 2 out of the last 3 years.

This 2 out of 3 nonsense must be standard ku talking points.  Why not say 2 out or the last 4, or 2 out of the last 14?

I'm more intersted in your record in Manhattan.  How about the fact that ku has not won in it's last 8 trips to the Little Apple?

10/8/2005  W 12 3

10/25/2003  W 42 6

10/27/2001  W 40 6

10/9/1999  W 50 9

11/8/1997  W 48 16

10/28/1995  W 41 7

10/9/1993  W 10 9

10/12/1991  W 16 12

An even more compelling argument against ku winning in Manhattan this year (or any year) is Mangino's horrid road record.  Check my math, but isn't it something like 4-20 overall and 2-17 in the Big 12? (not including nuetral site games)

Congrats on beating KSU "2 out of the last 3 years".  I'm eagerly waiting to find out if you can win one at our place.  I will be the first to congratulate you if ku wins this year.

I just think it's great my alma mater was able to experience what it's like to finally be on the winning side of a 64-0 score.

Come on now, Nebraska football has a lot to compete with..

Like..
Nebraska State football (Doesn't exist)
Creighton football (Doesn't have a football team)
Pro football (No pro franchises in Nebraska..or anywhere near it.)

Err..Surely there's another football team to support somewhere in Nebraska..

Chadron State, or the Mighty Lopers or Mavericks.

FWIW UN-Omaha has a badass hockey team.

Don't Chadron, Kearny, Doane, Wayne all have football teams?  I know they all have cross-country/track as we competed against them.  Glad UNK finally got rid of their building within a building indoor facility.
