The neighbor kid had a sweet fort in his back yard.  But, he was rough ridin' around with building a fire one day and set the entire three-acre back yard a blaze.

Fire department came and the kid told them that a "black man wearing a black cape and black hood set the fire."  Fort was torn down.  True story.

Greatest book of all time?  Yep, My Side of the Mountain....about a boy who makes a fort out of a tree stump and befriends a bird and some other animals.  he made a fireplace in his tree stump fort for crying out loud.

OMFG, This was my favorite too. I also enjoyed The Other Side of the Mountain as well. Jean Craighead George was the reason I almost wanted to take up falconry.

Another classic.... Man who Loved Clowns. Talk about a tear jerker.

I didn't have a fort. Just a secluded dirt circle in the woods with some chairs and we put up some rock "walls" to make it kind of look like a fort...? Then they tore down the woods for an upper-scale neighborhood.

We had a treehouse at a creek behind the (residential) daycare I went to after school.  The treehouse kind of sucked, the real prize was the creek.  Tons of honeysuckles and wild onion shoot things.  We feasted on that stuff like it was going out of style.  Also we started collecting beer bottle caps.  Pretty apparent somebody had a bizarre obsession with Red Dog.

Not really.

A couple of months ago a guy who works with my father-in-law was looking for a deer he shot and came across a female body tied to a lawn-chair around Concordia.

My neighbors built this super awesome fort in their backyard, which kind of backs up to my backyard and my friends and I used to go smoke black and milds back there when we were 14.  Apparently it wasn't registered with the city of lenexa and they sent a crony to investigate WHILE WE WERE INSIDE!!! :surprised: We ran to millcreek and a week later our fort was rough ridin' gone.

eff you, city of lenexa cronies.
