Offensively we are better than last year.   Defensively we are far worse.

Overall I am thinking wash.  I just hope we don't run into an "Ali Farukamensch" in the tournament.

Cole= Huge loss
Selby= no big deal they already had 5 different guys that could hit a three.
Collins= replaced adequately
Henry= ditto
Robinson= improved

overall the only diff is Cole who was tremendous on help defense, changing and blocking shots, rebounding, getting dumped down to for easy dunks, and missing teeth.
I don't know about this year, but last year I think we win 2 out of 3 against them without Cole.

Now that I reflect, we win 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 against them this year.  :comehere:
it’s not like I’m tired of WINNING, but dude, let me catch my breath.

Losing Cole and Sherron turned out to be addition by subtraction.  One was weak-willed and the other too bull-headed.  Neither could provide the leadership necessary.

While the above is way to simplistic, I haven't seen the explosive moves to the basket out of Selby that I was expecting considering his ranking and the Kylie Irving, John Wall comparos.  Granted I had to watch the USC game on my phone and only stayed up to watch the first half of the Cal game but I have seen more of X. Henry type of play out of Selby than the guys above.

Hawk fans, is Selby what you expected?

They're extremely vulnerable to post offense without Cole. Their other bigs are risk takers on defense and had Cole back there to still be a presence if someone got by them. Without him back there, they are being exposed.  This was a huge reason for the Arizona and UCLA games being so close. I didn't get to see the Cal game though.

Offensively, I think they are way better than last year.

You are not scoring more points now that you have selby.  The points have been redistributed.  This is bad for you because Marcus has seen his production go down.  I much prefer my
all-american forward to produce in and out of the lane drawing fouls, than pin my hopes on a freshman from the 3 pt. line.

nice diagram though, keep up the good work :nerd:

This ku team is better than the '08 squad

No.  That was ku's best team ever.

Chalmers, Rush, Robinson, FR. Collins >>>> Selby, Taylor, Johnson, Reed
Kaun, Jackson, Arthur, FR. Aldrich >>>> Morris x2, Robinson, Withey

Selby is the only current KU guard that even sniffs the court on the 08 team.

Also, more NBA talent?  Everyone on that team outside of Robinson and Rodrick Stewart (who didn't even play) has done time in the league.

2010-11 KU may be deeper, but they would get run by the 08 squad.  It woudln't be close 7 game series and 11 might win one game.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

definitively no.  kansas has played 2 teams that even attempt defense (zona/usc) and barely won.  kansas' offensive numbers ridiculously skewed.  they are in for a giant shock when they go to nebraska.  also, the teams kansas has played that had any decent talent had their way scoring inside and rebounded pretty good too.  kansas has a lot to prove to me.

I second this. Predicted here USC would come back at them in the 2nd half because of their inside game. Post players are good but stubby armed (McMorons) or short (Robinson).

Aldrich is a huge loss.

Marcus Mongoloid, by all accounts, is much improved at inside play, may help offset loss of Aldrich.

Morningstar has not produced an inspirational DUI arrest yet this year.

No fellating press coverage of how much Self is enjoying coaching this team.

TIA.

Overall I am thinking wash.  I just hope we don't run into an "Ali Farukamensch" in the tournament.

You guys will be better in the NCAA's this year.

How could they not? That's the problem with using the NCAA's a measuring stick for KU. 2008 was not close to their most talented team in the last decade but look what happened.

pretty close.  It had 4 nba players on roster, I don't think roys last team had that
